An offensive image of First Lady Michelle Obama photo-edited to resemble a monkey has turned up first on Google Image searches for her name, prompting the search engine giant to take out an ad distancing itself from the racist depiction. "Sometimes Google search results from the Internet can include disturbing content, even from innocuous queries," the company stated. "We assure you that the views expressed by such sites are not in any way endorsed by Google."

What's the big deal? George Bush was depicted as a monkey several times over and no one had a problem with it.

Bush doesn't belong to a race that has been depicted as monkeys and apes for centuries.

Wonder who that is in the drawing. Oh wait, it is a REPUBLICAN president....wait a minute...I think I know him....invaded a country that did not attack him in a war of aggression to free an oppressed people....but wait, that was a century and a half a go?

This is definitely more important than the possibility that some scientists have been faking global warming data to advance a political agenda.

The first link clearly depicts a higher form of intelligence.

Disgusting. George was president. Michelle is just a mom. The picture is not comical, it's terrible.

"This is definitely more important than the possibility that some scientists have been faking global warming data to advance a political agenda."

Rtards are as excited about this alleged scandal as they were about the Michelle Obama "whitey" tape.

Bruce,

where were you when every dem on the site was calling the Bush twins "the Bush Skanks" or something equally derogatory? What about when comments were mad about Laura? What about comments made about Barbara? Where those comments equally terrible to you?

I wasn't on the site then, but yes. I don't support attacking families of politicians or any public figures. I say the same thing about Palin. Her kids should be off the table, but since they decided to campain as a family then they've decided to be public figures. She seems to be learning that's the way it works, and has kept them in the background where they belong for a while now.

A good joke is always appreciated, but this is just a lazy application of racist stereotypes.

Citizen we all know partisans will be partisan, but will never notice it in themselves. The best thing we can do is ignore cheap shots and let morons on the fringe continue sniping.

Bush was a monkey. His human face was makeup and a good mask.

"Sticks and stones can break my bones..."

I think I'll be using another search engine from now on...not because I see anything wrong with the altered photo of a chimp but because Google is actually making apologies for it.

There's a business opportunity around every corner...

I think I'll be using another search engine from now on..

If we are all descended from monkeys and apes...

...why all the hyper-sensitivity when making comparisons based on body features?

I mean, I look like a fox.

pickin'on women and children has always been unacceptable, 'ceptin for Hitler, Idi Amin, Taliban and their ilk.

just as horrible as the attacks on Ms Palin and her children.

Bush doesn't belong to a race that has been depicted as monkeys and apes for centuries.

my HS biology teacher who was a strong advocate of evolution caused people tend to believe in evolution as he looked very much like an ape-man. He is white.

We are not descended from apes and monkeys, we share a common ancestor.

That Ultimate Evil Known as...Human!

Considering that the human species has had no problem resorting to weapons like nerve gas, white phosporous and nuclear bombs (to name just a few) to settle its petty arguments and disagreements, then its not that heinous in comparison to depict someone as a lower primate!

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country"

Maybe not a monkey, but certainly a bitch.

Not nice in any form to anyone.

I had been a republican for most of the decade and I must say, I am ashamed that I ever was. I took an enormous amount of flack for being a republican, poeple asking me how I could be part of a party that was so racist or had so many racist in it. Like an idiot I used to defend it. I am so ashamed of that now (my eyes nearly teared up as I wrote this), I wish I could take all those votes back. It was not easy being a black republican for most of the decade, I had to close my eyes about so many abuses and defend so many time the indefensible. This type of thing now truly make me sick. I do feel for Micheal Steel, I bet he has trouble sleeping at night with some of the stuff he must stay quiet about.

Don't let Darwin hear that.

aren't we all apes? aren't human and chimpanzees something like 99% genetically the same?

get over it.

"race" and "racism" are vestiges of bad science. refuse them and all their empty rhetoric.

The Evolutionist tell us that all of the Human Race came from Apes and Monkeys ! G.W. Bush was depicted as a monkey several times. What is the big deal !

Yea ! Darwin said we all came from Apes and Monkeys

comments about "Laura" should have included that she killed an innocent person by running a stop sign.. coments about George should have included that he had received two (2) DWI's but they didn't.

I'm speechless... well, not quite.

If you think that depiction of the first lady is acceptable or funny.... chinga te, racist pedazo de mierda.

That's the end of my speech.

sorry this just does not work, there is a meaning imply and the meaning is meant to degrade and dehumanize. This is racist, and not amount of justifying is going to hide it. The right and republican have lost their ways, actually no, I take that back, they have lost their facade.

That's pretty disgusting but that google bombing has been going on for years.

Why did google suddenly find some moral ground?

heheheheheheheh I remember googling Miserable Failure and ressing I'm Feeling Lucky and up popped the website of Dubya. That was freaking kewl dude. We had a blast with THAT one.

Well,I have to say:
Michelle's picture,23k
Bush's monkey pictures,from #40
15,000 to 500,000k.
I don't know what that means, just an observation.

Free speech...

As utterly distasteful as it is: free speech...

I have frequently posted photos that put "The Chimpster" in a bad light... Never his wife though...

However, I think that our First Lady will shrug off anything the Right can throw at her...

But, good luck shaking that tree...

So who is fair game?

John Edwards - his affair was ignored.

Al Gore III - driving 100 mph in a hybrid and busted with marijuana Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Yawn.

Alexandra Forbes Kerry - was recently arrested for driving under the influence. Not news?

Monica Conyers - pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bribery. Not news.

Christopher Barry - assaulting a police officer.

Austin Deeds - underage drinking.

Ashley Biden - arrested for marijuana possession.

Barely a chirp. But if it is a conservative, the lame stream media rules runs with it. The LSM even protects there own like Richard Quest.

The closet is a frustrating place to be.

So what. It still doesn't mean that every time someone depicts a black person as a monkey that it is racist. Hell, I honestly believe that Michelle looks like a gorilla but not because she's black. It's her face.

Now you belong to a party that is perceived as non racist but is full of racists. I don't know why people automatically give the dems a pass when it comes to race issues. There are closet racists in the democrat party, which may even be worse than being open about it. The right has no more racists in its party than does the left.

Klifferd, please tell me of any racist law that has been enacted by the republicans. And not 100 years ago. Laws that have been enacted within the past 50 years. Besides, it was the democrats who were passing all of the racist laws such as Jim Crow back in the day.

Michelle clearly resembles a silver back gorilla. Wouldn't want to offend any monkeys or apes out here.

I guess Google wasn't too upset about this depcition. Which is still up on their site....

The text of the blog post reads:

Apparently the Black community in Maryland (and the rest of Black America) doesn't like Michael "Oreo's fell like Locusts" Steele very much.

So the RNC would prefer to be known as the party of "Uncle Tom" instead of the Party of Racists. Way to broaden the base guys! Good luck with that in 2012.

Bush was depicted as a monkey many times and called things like chimpy all of the time. Just because someone is black should not disqualify them from being depicted as a monkey. I understand that people used to compare them to monkeys in a racist way, but that doesn't mean that when someone does it today that it is racist. There was no outrage when Bush was called one and no matter what, he was still being likened to a monkey. Is that not also insulting and racist? After all, if the comparisons are being made because he resembles one that is due to his genetic make up. Same thing goes for a black person.

Edward James Olmos nails it completely and if you watch this you either get it, or you don't.

There is but one race

Yes they certainly should.....

Kinda begs the question of just how many on left left were 'disgusted' with the relentless bashing that President Bush and his family were subjected to.

Hardly any?

In all honesty, if you believe in evolution, you believe we all evolved from apes. If this is true, then it would it would be like looking at old family pictures. Then again if, if someone said you look like your great aunt and your great aunt looks like a gorilla, that might be offencive....

Michelle is a public figure, and as such is going to be subjected to some unfortunate scrutiny and caricatures. I think she's shown banana she can not only caged luggage take it but can dish it out to her critics. So what's the harm in a ook little joke that hurl feces gives us all a little chuckle and brightens our day? Is anyone THAT hurt?

How can you paint the republican party with such a broad stroke over a picture of the First Lady? Do you have proof it was a republican? My guess it was some Paintshop hacking, basement dweller over at the Daily KOS. How quick we jump to conclusions around here.

#64...
It is rather telling that the picture "must" be associated with not only and individual republican, but the entire party.

BTW... WTF is buzzoverm.blogspot.com and why does a spoof by them garner enough attention for Google to censure?

Looks like a blue-eyed ape to me.

Agreed, it wasn't a republican who did the Obama Joker. for all we know, it's a progressive who thinks things aren't changing quick enough, or who wants to marginalize conservative groups by framing them (a favorite Alinski trick) -- see, also, census worker who killed himself

I'll have to admit that the "smirking" chimp photo array was probably over the top, though it certainly captured aWol's smirks, which, unlike this smear were not photoshopped, It did compare his expressions to chimpazees similar expressions....

www.bushorchimp.com

Considering, two ladies wiped those smirks off his face forever, (Sheehan and Katrina), it is not so funny now either, eh?

Regardless, the racist component to the Obama photoshopped photo, again unlike the chimp comparison, is pretty transparent for anyone knowing or caring about the oppression of black folk in the history of the USA.

I used Google to find the source of the image and they do this for everybody.

But, yet it is OK to call Pres Bush a chimp. What part of that is so good?

You can call me a domesticated house ape but I don't you dare call you anything. SHIT!!!!!!!

I think we should all send a bunch of bananas to the whitehouse to show them how upset we are. NOT!

It's just that some of us evolved quicker than other races, thus we have outgrown our ape like appearance. We should still treat each other as equals, but lets face it, if the ears, eyes, lips and jaws fit, don't blame the messenger.

The ignorance of those who believe themselves somehow superior, belies that superiority every time....eh?

While I find the depiction of President Bush as a monkey distasteful, I have to agree that a similar depiction of Mrs. Obama is worse.

Blacks have had to deal with the comparison to monkeys for generations. I can understand and sympathize with a certain sensitivity.

This was crude and unacceptable behavior.

I do remember reading an article 20 or more years ago that did a feature by feature comparison or Gorillas, Caucasians, and Africans. The author found more similarities between Caucasians and Gorillas than between Africans and Gorillas.

Does anyone else remember seeing this?

The ignorance of those who believe themselves somehow superior, belies that superiority every time....eh?

Like your fellow lefty herm who appears to speak for all lefties including you woke, eh?

The reason we call Republicans stupid is because they ARE stupid.

nazi moron.

While I find the depiction of President Bush as a monkey distasteful, I have to agree that a similar depiction of Mrs. Obama is worse.

I didn't think it was bad to call a white politician a chimp because you think he's stupid. If there was no racial baggage associated with calling blacks monkeys and apes, calling Barack Obama a chimp because you think he is stupid wouldn't be a big deal.

But it is what it is. I can't imagine many people would call a black person a chimp or a money to his or her face. Or if they did, they'd expect to have a fight on their hands.

I like both the Bush and Michelle chimps. I also like the Mohammed with a bomb on his head. Lighten up, people. Tasteless jokes are pretty damn funny!

Tasteless jokes are pretty damn funny!

Don Rickles made a living off of tasteless jokes. Jews, Hispanics, Pols, Italians, Blondes, Canadians, Negros, Russians, Rednecks, Muslims, etc...everyone is a target for JOKES.

I marvel at those on the left (Rcade) that voice their outrage over demeaning pictures of the First Lady. Cry me a fucking river...

what a fucking cock sucking hypocrite, you would be the first to slam sarah palens's daughter you ass hole

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. He's not an asshole, that's just where he would slam her.

Some people aim higher than the airport bathroom when they're lookin' for love, you know.

Hahahahahaahah, now first broad catches a little of what Palin had to go through.
Tough shit.

Would Michelle peel a bannana before she eats it?

Would Michelle peel a bannana before she eats it?

That depends on whose nauseating rightwing sex fantasy you're talking about.

But, yet it is OK to call Pres Bush a chimp. What part of that is so good?

#70 | Posted by Sniper at 2009-11-25 01:34 PM | Reply | Flag:

Bush was likened to a chimp because he was deemed intellectually akin to one. (and by some theories, he played that one up in his favor)

Obama is likened to an ape because of her race.

It is fair to criticize a person because of thier accomplishments (or lack thereof) and deeds, but not race or religion. That is the whole point from my perspective.

Photoshop the President and any political, leader you want. The wife and kids are off limits. Tasteless.

So my current Photoshop photo of the Chosen O*e and kids playing on tombstones at Auschwitz proly won't fly?

So, just so I understand the left...

Attacks on Bush and his family are OK... calling him a chimp or degrading comments about his daughters are a real knee-slapper. Same goes for Palin and her children... all fair targets (including the infant and her 14 yr old daughter)...

But a comment comparing the Clinton's child to a dog (and GOD did she have a horrible face) or anything about the current pres and family are not funny and must always be considered racist, because they are black.

So how, exactly, is it appropriate for those who think this current pres is a socialist and should go suck shit thru a straw and wants to make fun of his stupidity supposed to do it without the knee-jerk racist comments?

Better yet, fuck that. Call me a racist for not bowing to that piece of shit. I don't like him or his policies. Doesn't make me a racist in my book, and I'm the only one who knows what's in my heart.

I didn't think the photoshopped picture was very original or very funny. I don't know if it was any more racist than attacks on Bush was racist. I have heard LOTS of things about Mr Steele that I believed sounded racist [including the oreo tossing]. I never noticed the left get their panties in a wad over that.

So, just so I understand the left...

oh lighten up everybody,I take more shit from my friends

79

Feel free to post any Don Rickles jokes about Nancy Reagan.....or Barbara Bush......

86

You obviously are either ignoring the racist past in the usa or totally ignorant of it.

Another repug/aWol voter turned "libertarian", eh?

"I never noticed the left get their panties in a wad over that."

Can't wait for the adult film industry to spoof a porn about Michelle, ala "Nailin Palin". That should drive the same whining lefties here crazy. Of course they will still play the race card....

It does seem rather strange Google defending themselves about a blogs photo, when they allow racy or naked photos depicting underage children.

Let's see now Crispy,

In one post on this thread you have told us all about how you "Can't wait" for a porn movie about Michelle Obama AND that google has pictures of child porn.

Anything else you'd like to share about your focus in life on Thanksgiving Day?

First Lady Michelle Obama is a public figure, not some random house mom, and like any public figure we have the right to make fun of her.

Some will say it's racist because she is black. But when the comic artist makes 5 white people into monkeys and a black person into a monkey that is not racist intent.

If anything, the people who are racist are the people who insist that this is racist. If you look out the window and see a dirty world, trying cleaning the window!

All of this said, I support Barack Obama. I voted for the man, and donated a fair sum of money towards his campaign. I've no opinion either way regarding the first lady. I don't feel that this art was particularly clever, but it wasn't illegal.

And if someone wanted to publish inflammatory art that puts me down, I surely wouldn't like it; however, I'd die for the creator's right to publish it.
