President Barack Obama's choice for a top job in the Treasury Department did not disclose all of her late tax payments until she was repeatedly prodded by Senate investigators, a congressional report issued Wednesday said. Obama's nominee for undersecretary of the Treasury for international affairs, Lael Brainard, is the fifth presidential nominee to reveal tax issues during the congressional vetting process.

I'm starting to see why Democrats don't mind raising taxes. They never bother to pay them anyway, so why not?

I wonder how big the deficits would be, if the douchebags who voted for Obama would have bothered to pay what they owe.

deja vu.

deja vu.

NO SHIT!!!! I'm shocked.

The dems don't pay their taxes and they employ groups to find a way to implement voter fraud---what a pathetic bunch of crooks.

And they keep buying votes to get re-elected.

How much did the vote today on the healthcare bill by the dem senator from LA cost us?

"How much did the vote today on the healthcare bill by the dem senator from LA cost us?"

About 32 cents apiece.

Late tax payments are not the issue...failing to disclose them in a vetting process is the issue. Lack of integrity.

Reid cut the gal from Louisiana 100,000,000 for her vote-- people think we're in trouble now, wait until they pass the taxcare reform. I watched the gal from Arkansas try to jusify her procedural vote---she was stammering all over the place and trying to do the usual "tough guy" act about how she would vote against the final bill if it had a public option-- what these folks don't realize is the voters are really into this for the first time in years and the snowjob no longer will work-- she'll be toast in her re-election bid next year.

Bingo---and, folks, that's why this once great nation is on the verge of collapse---congress is trying to drive the final nail in the coffin.

I am so goddamned sick of these lying, cheating bastards! Every freaking one of this guy's nominees is either a tax cheat, an avowed socialist or both.

I realize that Obama et al couldn't give a crap less about what tax paying voters' wishes are. Hell, he doesn't even seem to care that his support among Independents has taken on the aerodynamics of an anvil dropped out a window. The agenda is a socialized Obamerica and political careers be damned!

At any rate - I still advise every concerned patriot on the board to memorize the White House Comment Line... 202-456-1111. Call and give them a piece of your mind!!

JM

"she'll be toast in her re-election bid next year."

Why? Poll after poll has shown the majority of the people in her state favor a public option.

You are right on that Dan--she must get contributions from the industry or something?

So Obama puts another tax cheat into his administration.

And she wants to lie or hide it during the process?

Great integrity from the WH.

Geez they suck.

Why? Poll after poll has shown the majority of the people in her state favor a public option.

Wrong, the most recent poll in the state of Arkansas reveals only 39% support a public option-- as I said she is toast no matter how she spins it --people are finally paying attention.

Well, Landrieu's from Lousiana, which is an extremely welfare-dependent state.

Won't matter though. Landrieu won't win next year, whatever she does this weekend.

"Wrong, the most recent poll in the state of Arkansas reveals only 39% support a public option"

Yeah...like there's only one poll:

Obama's financial team is on the wrong side. When they leave, there's a high paying cushy job at G-Sax waiting for them. But Summers can't wait that long he's making millions giving talks to his banksters.

MOST RECENT---november 17 versus October 30.

However the difference shows how little poll numbers about elections really matter. 18 days and some people want to call elections now?

I posted this two days ago, shows how much more ahead of the game than RightisAlwaysWrong:

Beats your shitty state of Alabama.

Landrieu has proven that she's a whore. A high priced one I'll grant you but she has shown that she can be bought :)

I live here in Louisiana since Labor Day, have registered and have already emailed her the above statement - cannot wait till election day.

Not my state, and if it were, it would still be false. Louisiana is just a big stinking pile of mud. It's ass.

Sure I have. I've spent a lot of time in LA, and thought it is the most horrible place to live I could imagine. I'd rather live in Buffalo. The food is good, considering it all crawled out of the swamp just a few hours before it got on your plate.

What "is" the meaning of taxes? Or, is the meaning of taxes what "is". Or "is" the meaning of your meaning of "is"?

You'd think late payment would be considered a good thing... what with the penalties and interest...

Dingdisaster, rich depends on a comparative and in comparison to others, I probably am more fortunate---I have an amount of sympathy for you since you seem to think that anyone that has obtained some amount of wealth has obtained it nefariously and by cheating on their taxes (that's a pretty broad generalization)---often, individuals that generalize do so because of their own personal situations and experiences and then project that onto others--I truely feel sorry that you have cheated on your taxes in the past and hope you're successful in the future in your application to be a part of the Obama "tax others but cheat on our taxes" team.

Dingdisaster, for most of us the statement "tax problems" wouldn't be an oxymoron but for you it should be since you delight in cap/tax and all other kind of government involvement and taxes--- for you it should be "tax opportunities". Dingdisaster, just a suggestion, give up your riposting (look up the definition) with me ---you're out of your league; go back to the minors; tuck your tail between your legs and run; fall on your sword; do a mea culpa; do whatever it takes.

Nothing but a bunch of fucking thieves makes Bush look like competent.

Wait the right is pissed because she didn't pay her taxes on time? But did pay them.

Wtf. Are you guys really that stupid?

I payed late payments on mt taxes because I just didn't have enough money to pay my taxes on time.

Got screwed due to divorce and water heater explosion.

What? I'm a crook cause I had financial problems and couldn't pay on time?

Unbelievable the right is. Get real issues! Cause yer all looking like the same idiots that voted bush and ruined the country.

And they think the steep drop in Federal tax receipts is all from the weak econony...

...when will they realize that, more and more, regular American citizens are breaking the tax laws.

Why not? They see lawmakers cheating with impunity, so why not them?

It appears the more money lawmakers have access to, the more corrupt they become...

...so, paying taxes only encourages more criminal behavior (and gets us deeper in debt).

Someday soon, I predict tax collectors will need to start wearing body armor. Knocking on doors isn't safe in this environment.

What? I'm a crook cause I had financial problems and couldn't pay on time?

No, but if you covered it up by lying under oath you would be.

#34 Klifferd,

As you well know - the point is NOT that the taxes FINALLY got paid (by her and the other cheating bastards appointed by this guy). It's that they were coincidentally taken care of AFTER the scams were revealed!!

BTW - This is hardly a Dem-only issue (...although it sure seems that way doesn't it?). It's crooked politicians left, right and center, and it disgusts me!

Washington and state politics is by-and-large, a freaking cesspool of corruption... a whole lot of slime in every corner. Special interest groups run the show.

So she didn't pay until after congressional "prodding"

??

C'mon klifferd. You know that if this had been a Bush appointee, the left would be all over it like a chicken on a June bug.

It's about as stupid as this comment upthread, wouldn't you agree, kilfferd:

A non-story for Brainard, but not for Geithner. He ought to be shown the door.

$100,0000,000 to sell this nation down the river!

If you are Obama or a friend you don't need to tell the truth! It will be glossed over and spun as just an oversight!

Apparently it was much more than that.

And so it came to pass that Landrieu walked onto the Senate floor midafternoon Saturday to announce her aye vote -- and to trumpet the financial "fix" she had arranged for Louisiana. "I am not going to be defensive," she declared. "And it's not a $100 million fix. It's a $300 million fix."

Vernon, it's nice to see some educated individuals on this thread to set things staight.

rich which is an acronym for a tax cheat.

I have yet to meet a rich person that does not cheat on their taxes. Everyone I ever worked for that has their own business writes off expenses that none of his employees can and he calls that paying his or her fair share. It's total crap and we all know it. Nobody could get rich if they paid all the money the state, county and federal government wants. Anybody that thinks otherwise is a God damned fool and a liar. Just take a look around at all the trucks and cars on the road with a business logo on the side and nothing in them but the wife and kids. How many people take a trip these days without setting up some bullshit meeting with a 'prospective client' or visiting a trade show just to write it off?

Don't try to bullshit and old bullshiter like me.

Every black person I know steals.

Ding, sorry to disappoint you but I'm part owner of a small business and my partner and I decided a long time ago to be ethical in all of our business practices---also, my accountant has been instructed to do what's absolutely right and not to cut any corners. A number of years ago I was audited (IRS) 3 out of 5 years and came up completely clean. After the third one, I asked the auditor why the frequency since it was getting tiresome and took up a lot of valuable time. She told me I was an outlier on the information that kept coming up on their computers---my charitable giving was extremely out of the ordinary--- I don't know what the heck environment you live in but where I come from there are others who live the same lifestyle and practices--if you didn't cheat on your taxes you might be much more content and less bitter as a person and also, less condemnatory.

cynical!

Probably more appropriate description then condemnatory.

Goat. I agree. And I would call them stupid as well.

And yes the rich equals tax cheat comment is equally stupid.

Yea, well I don't believe anyone who claims they are rich on a public forum anyway. If you really were rich, you would know exactly what I am talking about.

BTW...Middle class ain't rich, but nice try though.

Yes, I know.

I thought you were a religious zealot for global warming...

Do you really want me to believe you are smart enough to make money running a business without writing off every penny you spent with a piss poor understanding of the world such as that? You haven't even figured out yet that selling green technology is a profitable and legal venture too. You think Al Gore is a tax ripoff, but you aren't?

I know tax write offs are legal as long as the IRS doesn't look too deep, but I'll call it whatever I like. Is that OK with you or would you just prefer the usual name calling routine you are so good at?

Oher then mispelling your moniker, dingdisaster, I can't think of any other name calling---I wouldn't insult people like that---I respect you too much as a humanoid to do that-- please enlightment me as to any invective, abusive, insulting or adverse other language in reference to your person.

After 11 months of this administration, that some reprobate in the Obama Administration has not paid their taxes is about as surprising as the idea that there is gambling in Vegas. Such corruption in an administration and Congress has never been seen in this country. Our government has become a criminal enterprise.

Our government has become a criminal enterprise.

#64 | Posted by Kissntell

Valid point---we may be getting closer.

Our government has become a criminal enterprise.

Has become? Where the hell have you been since Nixon was elected? The neo-cons have made it an art. Before them we actually had a few patriots in office.

14,700 wealthy tax cheats turned themselves in just this year alone and the rest will just shuffle the bucks around, and some of the fools here think rich isn't an acronym for tax cheat. There is only 35,000 in the country holding 90% of the money. That means at least half are trying to avoid prosecution. The other half figure they have political protection. Go figure.

This is just unbelievable. What I don't understand is why this doesn't disqualify them for the position. Hell, I didn't get a job once because of my bad credit. And it wasn't a job working at a bank or anything financial, it was for a damn health insurance company. Yet these tax cheats are getting confirmed left and right. Just goes to show, the more power and money and connections you have, the less difficult the road to success is. It is truly pathetic.

Bingo---Making money in the good old U.S.A. is more about those who can B.S. then competence and production--it's never been worse---has become a giant Bernie Madoff con game.
