Was thinking about this as I walked my dog a little while ago.
This really bothers me:
Pinkney Sr. began by pistol whipping his son in the living room where the teen lived with his mother before taking him outside, despite Cherry's pleas to stop.
The father marched the naked boy into the lot and made him kneel down. As the boy pleaded for his life and his distraught mother looked on, Pinkney Sr. allegedly executed the boy with a shot in the head.

Other than verbal pleas, the mother did nothing to stop it. No indication that the police were contacted or even involved until after the fact, and I'm sorry, but come hell or high water, I'd give my life to protect the life of my kids.
While what the kid did (or didnt) do is pretty reprehensible, killing him only fucks the family up worse.
Kind of negates the moral high ground the father may have had.
I mean, what's worse, having something happen that, disgusting as it is, probably wont ever be remembered,
or
living a life with the stigma of having a brother killed by his father and probably spending the rest of his life in prison for it.
Couple that with the knowledge that "Mommy" would rather watch you die than actually intervene, even if it was her step son?
Be interesting to see, after this kind of burden, what kind of person she becomes in about 15 years.
Then again, maybe the mother knew the outcome and was pissed off enough to let it happen because the boy was only her stepson and the daught was flesh and blood....dunno..
Crazy fucking world.
