Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, November 19, 2009

It would be nice to have a permanent music thread. Anyway, this week's theme: make your own theme! Pick a genre, an artist, an era, a region, whatever...and stick to it.

So What?
Bitches Brew

"So What?
Bitches Brew"

Yeah, I saw Miles Davis in LA during the "Bitches Brew" phase of his career. It was memorable, for a number of reasons.

Damn, you're old.

"It was memorable, for a number of reasons."

I'll bet.

Bill Laswell did some really beautiful work remixing the music of miles from that period.

"Damn, you're old."

Damn, you're wise and experienced.

Fixed that for you.

"I'll bet."

If I get around to it I will tell you about Nulli's excellent adventure to a Miles Davis concert.

Drudgies, especially rtards, need to relax...

www.youtube.com

This is very cool. If you focus on the center for a minute, and then move your eyes to the browser, you will get some psychedelic-like oev's.

"If I get around to it I will tell you about Nulli's excellent adventure to a Miles Davis concert."

Oh boy, will you do it in third person? Please....pretty please?

LOL.

Fixed that for you.

LOL. I didn't think the two were necessarily mutually exclusive.

Yeah, Audrey was the greatest. Amazing dancer, too. This choreography is deliberately silly in places, but it took a lot of technique to pull it off: www.youtube.com

On second thought, "hottest" has to go to this one: www.youtube.com

"and the hottest babe of all time..."

????

Damn you're old.

LOL. I bet you think Breakfast at Tiffany's is a great movie too.

"Damn you're old."

Actually, that was just a bit of hyperbole. As everyone knows, the hottest babe of all time is Scarlet Johansson.

Unwatchable due to the racist Mickey Rooney character.

See how you get to know people better on the music thread.

I never would have figured you for a good ol' boy, Badgerwest.

Hanks Sr. and Jr -- great choice.

Horree go Rightree?

Yeah, that's one of a half dozen or more reasons why that film should be seen as an embarassment to the country.

She looks a little plain to me.

I think that bai ling is hotter.

"I think that bai ling is hotter."

*pffft* Can she actually act?

www.youtube.com

"Can she actually act?"

No. But that is part of what makes her so awesome. Why would you even ask that question?

You've got some odd criteria for hotness I think.

" But that is part of what makes her so awesome. Why would you even ask that question?"

I arbitrarily changed the criteria for "hotness" to include acting ability, in order to bolster my argument. :)

No, but I would love to hear it, if you can find it.

www.youtube.com

Null..I have it in a windows media file, but I can't figure out how to upload it to a host site...like "Onetruemedia" or something..it's cool as fuck...it's actually a medley on the album...called "Mystery Train", going straight into "Away in India", then fading to "Crossroad Blues"...actually one of the greatest 'Doors' finds I've had in 20 years....

Fucking shit is pissing me the hell off. I can't get the damned file to upload anywhere...

Does this mean I'm the only one here who spent part of the weekend pondering the commodification of Audrey Hepburn?

You busted me, Phoenix. But to answer your question... probably. Part of the commodification was self-inflicted though, wouldn't you agree?

Capitalism attempts to commodify everything. Some people are more than happy to go along. Take Michael Jordan, Inc...please!

Well, I'm probably guilty too.

I don't know enough about Hepburn to guess what she chose and what she didn't. Charisse kept a remarkably low profile, and is so graceful in the interviews I've read that it seems criminal that so many people never looked past her legs.

Capitalism attempts to commodify everything.

Seems more accurate to say that under capitalism, PEOPLE attempt to commodify everything.

Some people are more than happy to go along. -- #95 | Posted by nullifidian

Very true that people have different feelings about privacy.
