Okay, I came in REALLY late to this discussion, I admit, but let me make a few observations:
The only one who seemed to keep an even keel in this was Zombiehunter (great name, mate.) and I'm fairly certain it was because he didn't have skin in the game, so to speak.
I know nothing about Tosser's history here. He may very well be a flag-happy, shit-stirring asswipe on a level rarely seen outside of third grade. For my purposes here, that's unimportant.
Yes, he was clearly out to antagonize, whether this game is real or not, and thanks to Lisa and Nanc, he succeded.
However...
Lisa, you know I like you. I don't agree with you on the religious thing, but I like you. That said, you set up a false dichotomy for Tosser.
You repetedly say that either Jesus was the son of God or he was lying, and ask which he believed. You say that Jesus, himself, made the claim, to which Tosser said he did not. You response was he was changing Jesus' words.
Not to sound like a complete asshat, but...
How fluent are you in Greek, Latin, Hebrew and Aramaic, and what is your diet that has allowed you to live nearly 2000 years?
The simple fact is that you are getting your idea of what Jesus said based on an english translation of texts written in latin by blokes who weren't even alive when Jesus was supposed to have lived (bear in mind, I am not arguing the historicity of Jesus, which IS, actually, in doubt)
The fact that Tosser stated the words he believes Jesus said were different than what you believe he said whould answer your initial question: Tosser neither believes Jesus was the son of God, nor that he was a liar, since the quote he believes Jesus said (which, given the passage of time between when it was supposedly said and when it was written down in a language that it was then translated out of, makes it as valid a possibility of being correct as any other translation), you should take him at his word on that.
The fact is, Zombiehunter is right: a religious debate CANNOT be settled rationally. So everyone...
PLEASE...
Sit down, relax and have a muffin.
