According to a new study, poor fear conditioning at the tender age of 3 can predispose that person to break the law as an adult. "There's no 100 percent correspondence between conditioning deficits and crime: Not all poor conditioners will become criminals and not all criminals have the early fear conditioning deficits," explained study author Yu Gao, a research associate in the department of criminology at the University of Pennsylvania. His findings are published in the Nov. 16 online issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry.

sounds like an ACLU legal defense maneuver...

#1 - Yeah, or the law-'n'-order folks' excuse to start locking them all up.

Lets face it. We are too soft on kids. Maybe a little Sharia law would help . . .

Sorry, I can't even look at the photos, Boojiboy. That's beyond sick.

For someone who admits there's no concrete connection between them, they sure are selling this shit like its a bonafide fact, especially with the articles title.

Sad truth is that, like those in the global warming arena, these people will say anything that furthers their agenda....which is making money hand over fist.

Loh

Remember who made the famous statement, "It takes a village"???

That kind of twisted thinking is what's wrong with this world today, too much twisted government schooling, and interferance in families lives. Children having children.
Sex education, homosexuality, promiscuity, immorality, taught in schools today.

Parents are threatened with loss of their children and jail time, if they properly discipline their children for disobediance, or evil acts...

As our evil greedy government continues to forcfully grow in dictatorial power, the more criminals at earilier ages develop, and most all seem to love it that way, so it will continue to get worse and worse, you can bank on it...

A belt to his behind!

Send that 3 year old into the back yard to get a switch!

Maybe a couple days locked in a dark basement!

Ray Davies, 1974 (very much before his time)

Could be the Sarah Palin fight song:

Down with sex and sin,
Down with pot, heroin.
Down with pornography,
Down with lust.
Down with vice lechery and debauchery.
We are the new centurians.
Shepherds of the Nations.
We'll keep on our guard
For sin and degradation.
We are the national guard
Against filth and depravity,
Perversion and vulgarity,
Homosexuality.
Keep it clean.
Down with nudity,
Breasts that are bare and pubic hair.
We are here to cleanse humanity
From the man in the raincoat's
Pale faced glare.
So sodomites beware.
We are the new centurians,
Shepherds of the Nation.
We'll keep on our guard
For sin and degradation.
We are the national, guard
Against filth and depravity,
Perversion and vulgarity,
Homosexuality.
Keep it clean.
I visualise a day when people will be free
From evils like perversion and pornography.
We'll cast out Satan and we'll set the sinners free,
So people of the nation unite.
Put all the pervs in jail,
Bring back the birch, and the cat of nine tails.
Bring back corporal punishment
Bring back the stocks
And the axeman's block.
Let righteousness prevail.
Down with nudity and hard core magazines.
We'll bring religion back
And keep our country clean.
Keep it clean.
We are the new centurians
Shepherds of the Nation.
We'll keep on our guard
For sin and degradation.
We are the national guard
Against filth and depravity.
Perversion and vulgarity,
Homosexuality.
Keep it clean.

So 3yr olds are Sociopaths?..Doesn't anyone who has had kids.

Correction: Doesn't SURPRISE anyone who has had kids.

Lets face it. We are too soft on kids. Maybe a little Sharia law would help . . .

The funny part of it is when Sharia Law was written Iran didn't have many cars...

"their agenda" actually goes much furthrer. Have you seen the nanny state of GB? Parents are assumed criminals and must get registered to be in a public place with their children.

Remember the story about the Principals in Philly getting reprimanded for not getting their morning breakfast childrens' program participation high enough?

See where they're going with this BS propaganda? Parents should not be raising children!

Parents should not be raising children!

Only parents as delusional as LR Contrarian should not be raising children. The vertical transmission of batfuck insanity is a big problem. Fortunately the majority of the population isn't at risk of spawning a brood of paranoid morons.

The funny part of it is when Sharia Law was written Iran didn't have many cars...

Hey you know the saudis got it right... they don't let their women drive. Now the only people you have to watch out for on the road are these guys. And maybe these guys, too.

go blow somewhere else.

Zombie, What's wrong, did you lose your college science textbook, EcoScience?

go blow somewhere else

Sorry to disappoint you, sugar tits. I don't swing that way.

maybe you should go check out your namesakes' website to see what the book has to say about children [in case you forgot your college training].

Zombietime

maybe you should go check out your namesakes' website

My namesake? You mean that guy from the Evil Dead movies?

in case you forgot your college training

I've forgotten more than you have ever bothered to learn.

So, what should we do... put these 3 year olds in jail now? What crap! I know a lot of people who were abused, neglected and maligned by parents who were total losers but who managed to pull their lives together and become wonderful, self-sufficient adults.

According to the left, we are all destined to be victims. That is so UnAmerican. In fact, my Dad was an orphan at 9, his brother at 12 and his sister at 7, thrown out in the street after relatives took all the property left to them by their deceased parents. They -- each of them -- managed to live very good, productive lives and managed to educate themselves in history, the Constitution, math, spoke and wrote beautifully. You don't have to be a loser in this country just because you have loser parents.

WE MUST GET OVER THIS VICTIM MENTALITY PUSHED ON US BY THE LEFT. WE ARE AMERICANS! WE WON THE LOTTERY JUST BY BEING BORN IN THIS COUNTRY! MAKE THE MOST OF IT!!!!!

Lol. How to de-fang a zombie.

Say EcoScience 3 times.

Ecoscience. Ecoscience. Ecoscience.

It's just like turning on the lights on a vampire
(the light of the truth in this case).

Children are a product of their environment. When educated people put together studies on the causative nature of criminality they often times are selective in their data when it involves the potential of a child to become a criminal. They also mostly perform their work in a grant environment and are looking to prove a theory. A study is not necessary...what is necessary is for children to be guided with love, a consistent and positive doctrine of belief and most important, follow through by their parents to let them know that when they break the rules a consequence appropriate to the act of disobedience will be forthcoming. The same applies to when a child behaves. Positive reinforcement and praise are paramount to growing a happy, secure little person. We are not too far removed from the animal kingdom as far as cause and effect are concerned. Children are born perfect...and unless there is a physiological deficiency that impedes the normal processing of information, they will remain, perfect, and subject to their environment.

None of you read the article, then? All it's saying is children who aren't functioning properly at age 3 still won't be functioning properly when they grow up without making changes to the way they are raised. Feeding them good food and having them exercise, learn to function socially, and study harder in school isn't handing them over to the government.

Children are a product of their environment. When educated people put together studies on the causative nature of criminality they often times are selective in their data when it involves the potential of a child to become a criminal. They also mostly perform their work in a grant environment and are looking to prove a theory..

They made no assessment of the "causative nature of criminality" as you put it. Only pointed out that a misbehaving 3yo is more likely to be a misbehaving grown-up.

It's pretty obvious if you ask me, but it's nice to know the "obvious" withstands at least a degree of statistical rigor.

Even if they just did it for the grant money, it seems to me like it was money well spent. We are starting to learn that sometimes by the time kids get to Kindergarten it's "too late." Or more properly, we should intervene earlier. As is the case with autism for example.

The biggest factor toward a child becoming a criminal?

An absence of being raised with a dad.

Children are born perfect...

The old nature versus nurture thang.

Obviously, you are on the side that only bad nurturing can screw a person up.

I disagree.

I need only look to my neighbor and her two boys.

One, good kid, nice, polite, Eagle Scout, learning a trade, no drugs or alcohol problems.

The other, a fucking little psychopath with major drug and alcohol problems, tendancy towards violence, foul-mouth, rude, ended up in the pen for beating up people, has "Fuck You" tatooed across his throat.

Same mom, same upbringing, same "nurturing," but two different fathers.

Revision: Some children are born perfect assholes.

Some people are simply born flawed.

Some people are simply born flawed.

Agreed.

Sad seeds, indeed.

Tabula Rasa hasn't been seriously considered a valid concept by behavioural scientist fer a while now but some folks do like to over simplify their world.

Be Well.

"Obviously, you are on the side that only bad nurturing can screw a person up."

Absolutely not. You excluded the rest of my comment...

"...unless there is a physiological deficiency that impedes the normal processing of information, they will remain, perfect, and subject to their environment."

Kinda like what happens to children who are well-behaved and then, after a traumatic blow to the forehead resulting in damage to the frontal lobe where personality traits are stored and cognitive reason is processed, that same child becomes a belligerent, angry and often times violent child.

That's unfortunate about your neighbor's kid...if the son with the tat on his neck lives at home I'd have to question the mother's nurturing...as I would never let a son of mine live with me if he had FU tattooed on his neck. I'd still love him...but just not in my home...just sayin' :o)

You raise a good question.

I have a problem with the underlying assumption as displayed in the article: Addressing parental concerns, Benedek added: "Don't be discouraged if your child has early brain dysfunction. It doesn't mean that he or she is going to grow up and be a criminal. The brain can change and grow."

It is a bogus message to tell parents their 3 YO has brain dysfunction. Another paragraph makes a link to ADD. ADD is among the most over-diagnosed BS quackery that ever existed. Interestingly, who are the beneficiaries of this hyper-diagnosis? Big pharma.

Take a broad look and research child psychology objectivity conflict of interest issues in general.

Futher, why have they studied for 20 yrs and producing talking points about fear conditioning of 3 YO's? while no sweat meant the child lacked fear

Anyone had 3 yo's? You don't teach 3 YO's fear? Why is there an assumption of traumatic experiences associated with 3 yo's?

Also, I have a huge problem with the other conclusions made poor fear conditioning at the tender age of 3 can predispose that person to break the law as an adult. Yet other factors, such as education of the parents, large family size, nutrition, physical activity, configuration of the household and other elements also play a role, the researchers concluded.

LARGE FAMILY SIZE??? Does that sound familar? You hear the BS about having kids is injurying the earth and your individual carbon footprint? To hell with the propaganda! 'Configuration of the household'. What the he** does that mean?

Ecoscience. Ecoscience. Ecoscience.

You summoned me? Wait, you're not the Hiereus of the Order... you shouldn't do shit like that. Ecoscience just happens to be an anagram for "Ecce Cosine," and merely writing any anagram of that phrase three times sends ripples through the Force perceptible only to the Enlightened. Behold the Cosine! It is the Cosine of the Light Bearer. Do not call needlessly upon its Periodically Oscillating Glory, but instead let its Illumination permeate the World as you go about the Great Work.

Okay let's get this over with, dickweed. What the hell do you want me to tell you about ecoscience?

Forget it now. You had your chance. I wouldn't want to give you a platform to distract from the importance of the current conversation.

You had your chance.

To do what, exactly?

I wouldn't want to give you a platform to distract from the importance of the current conversation.

Those delusions of grandiosity are shining through again... when was the last time you had your lithium levels checked?

www.youtube.com

What I want I take what I don't I break

And I don't want you!

Cause I'm a problem child!!

Yes a problem child!!!
