Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, November 17, 2009

President Barack Obama said on Monday that al Qaeda remained the biggest threat to U.S. security, as his aides stepped up pressure on Afghanistan and Pakistan to cooperate with Washington's strategy in the troubled region. He has faced criticism at home for "dithering" on the Afghan war strategy, and the political pressure has been rising to make a decision soon. "I continue to believe that the greatest threat to the United States' security are the terrorist networks like al Qaeda," Obama told Chinese students at a town hall meeting in Shanghai.

Chinese students are very intelligent. Recall back in June Chinese students laughed at Tim Geitner when he tried to convince them their investment in dollars is safe.

Now, they must be smart enough to see through Obama's contradictory message to China:

Dismantling Pakistan, A Quagmire

While the Pakistan Army was busy in dealing with the Indian threat after Mumbai terrorist attacks, the TTP under the leadership of Baitullah Mehsud was regrouping and gaining control of Swat Valley and its adjoining areas. Musharraf had given a wild card to CIA which resulted in the CIA's penetration of Tribal Areas of Pakistan, their buying loyalties of rogue elements and militants better known as freelance terrorists (e.g. Chechens and Uzbeks, who have no home to which to return).

At stake for the CIA in Tribal areas and Pakistan's North. "It's admitted by the CIA that these attacks serve to provoke more attacks by forces in Pakistan. Michael Hayden for example said: 'We use military operations to excite the enemy, prompting him to respond. In that response we learn so much'. These attacks will just continue because they hasten the larger US plan for the region: To destroy Pakistan to aid the main opposition to China in the region, India."

Another stake the CIA has is the huge quantities of minerals and resources lie beneath the soil of Tribal Areas and Swat. Swat contains massive quantities of emeralds and gold. Their abundance was the reason the TTP tried to control as much NWFP turf as possible. Bajaur, where a long battle was fought between Pakistan Army and TTP, has huge quantities of magnesium. Elsewhere in the tribal areas are deposits of coal, chromium, and other minerals. The TTP had taken control of three shuttered emerald mines in northwest Swat and used emeralds to fund their insurgency. But the Pakistan Army has now taken over the mines from TTP.

"God has given us enormous wealth in terms of emeralds from Swat, rubies, pink topaz, beautiful tourmaline," said Ilyas Ali Shah, a gemologist with the government-run Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company.

"They would collect the emeralds and there would be an open tender every Sunday," said Azhar ul Islam, a 44-year-old gem trader from Swat. "The profits were divided up - two-thirds for the miner and one-third for the Taliban." (reminder: the Pakistan Taliban referred to here has nothing to do with the Afghan Taliban)

Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan are believed to hold up to 30-40 per cent of the world's emerald deposits, Shah says, with the precious stone fetching up to 2,000 dollars per carat depending on quality.

Where is the left anti-war crowd? Why silent? There isn't anything here you should disagree with. Are the same warmongering policies ok now or are you too partisan to speak against the big-O? Anyone who is not a blind partisan could see the clear contradictions between Obama and McChrystal.

Where are the non-neocon right, independents and third-party followers? You all should agree with this as well.

Either way the history is mainstream record, so that portion is not in dispute either. Everyone should also be able to see the contradiction in his message for China: to destroy Pakistan is to aid the main opposition to China in the region, India

Further details were not forthcoming because Milosevic died mysteriously soon thereafter.

Mysteriously? The guy was sicker than shit the whole trial

Bruce, first of all how is that relevant to anything?

Second, the fact is he did die suddenly under mysterious circumstances, just as was stated:

Mystery Deepens Over Milosevic Death

The controversy surrounding the sudden death of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic in his jail cell at the Hague has only deepened with the autopsy performed in the Netherlands and the vague, self-serving statements made by officials of the UN war crimes tribunal.

After a Dutch toxicologist confirmed that the drug rifampicinused to treat leprosy and tuberculosishad been found in the 64-year-old Milosevic's blood, the UN authorities suggested he may have committed suicide or deliberately sought to injure his health in order to press his demand to receive treatment in Russia, where his wife and children now live.

Rifampicin counteracts the effects of medications Milosevic was taking to treat high blood pressure and heart disease. The autopsy concluded that the former Yugoslav president died of a heart attack.

Milosevic's lawyer insisted that his client did not self-administer the drug. "Mr. Milosevic said he never used any medicine against leprosy or tuberculosis," the lawyer, Zdenko Tomanovic, said Monday.

He also cited a letter Milosevic had sent to the Russian government the day before he was found dead in his cell, charging that he was being poisoned. "I am writing to you and asking you for help in protecting me from the criminal activities being perpetrated in the institution operating under the sign of the United Nations organization," the letter stated.

Mystery Deepens Over Milosevic Death

Well that appears to be a whole different article than the one posted.

He was sick though

Where is the left anti-war crowd? Why silent?

You post the first two fucking posts and one of is asking where the left is?

The biggest threat to America isn't al queda, its rightwing domestic terrorists and their "conservative" puppet masters. 9-11 was 9-11 only because of the meat puppet in the White House who refused to listen to 52 warnings. The right wing America haters will do worse if they aren't rounded up and sent to Gitmo, which they will tell you is a holiday camp with college pranks.

2 guys in a cave are going to bring the United States down????????????????

Meanwhile three guys in finance are getting the job done in broad daylight, with lotsa superfulous support.

"superfulous(sic)"

Whatever that is.

oops......superfluous......

oops......superfluous......

"superfluous"

Double posting, for example.

Exactly. We'll fight the terrorists on their turf so we can ignore the banksters bringing us down on our turf. Or something like that. Thanks for the change Barack.

Ooooooooops, does anybody have the right CHANGE?

I believe the talking points are pre4paring us for the decisions.

To be fair, I did write this after 10 hours, so do take a breath.

North, neo-cons might take issue with the "American haters" label. Even greater error yet is your broad stereotype of right wing domestic terrorists or conservatives. You very obviously foolishly play right into the hands of the surreptitiousness on the left unjustly started by the DHS MAIC report and the following Domestic Extremism Lexicon documents [the timing of which was to falsely label any political dissidents to Obama which very broadly labeled veterans, second amendment advocates, constitutionalists, pro-life movement, Bob Barr bumper sticker holders, etc].

When the story moved to Front, much of the posting was 'lost':

In May, Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari, told NBC News that the CIA and the U.S.-Funded Pakistani ISI intelligence service "has created the Taliban."

The Pentagon's DIA was well aware of ISI assistance and continuing support of al-Qaeda and the Taliban during the Bush years. Declassified documents dated September 24, 2001, reveal that the Bush administration turned a blind eye to Pakistan's ongoing support for the supposedly nefarious terrorist organizations.

In 2007, it was revealed that the U.S. has allowed al-Qaeda to operate freely in Pakistan. "It's not that we lack the ability to go into that space," Tom Fingar of the office of the Director of National Intelligence told Congress. "But we have chosen not to do so without the permission of the Pakistani government."

In October, reports surfaced indicating Taliban forces were ferried around Afghanistan in U.S. helicopters. "This story, in one form or another, is being repeated throughout northern Afghanistan. Dozens of people claim to have seen Taliban fighters disembark from foreign helicopters in several provinces. The local talk is of the insurgency being consciously moved north, with international troops ferrying fighters in from the volatile south, to create mayhem in a new location," writes Ahmad Kawoosh in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Around the same time it was reported that the brother of Afghan president Hamid Karzai has been receiving regular payments from the CIA. "Ahmed Wali Karzai is a suspected player in Afghanistan's opium trade and has been paid by the CIA over the past eight years for services that included helping to recruit an Afghan paramilitary force that operates at the CIA's direction in and around the southern city of Kandahar," The New York Times reported.

In July, Qari Zainuddin, a tribal leader of the South Waziristan region in Pakistan, was assassinated after he revealed that Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud is connected to Indian and Israeli intelligence. Zainuddin also said Mehsud's group was working with U.S. intelligence to destabilize the country.

According to sources close to investigative journalist Wayne Madsen, the U.S. imported Taliban soldiers from Afghanistan to Iraq and they were used to attack civilians and coalition forces in that country. "We know that the U.S. has a long history with the Taliban, which goes back to the Afghan War (1979-1989), the Soviet Union tried to conquer the country," Madsen told Russia Today in July.

It should be obvious by now that both the Taliban and al-Qaeda are being used to push for an escalation in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Obama is merely continuing a policy initiated under Bush and the hostilities will increase and expand significantly into Pakistan in order to destabilize and destroy that country the same way Iraq and Afghanistan were destroyed.

Really the biggest threat to America is "Obama"...

Quote from Obama: We need to win, "Obama said, A changing the culture in Washington will take time and sustained effort.
He spoke more personally about the NEW CIVIL Rights protection. "I wonder what RACE only have CIVIL RIGHTS???

The Clobal Warming is to be discussed at Copenhagen
and if not delayed by unforseen events it will lesd to the New-World-Order, one world government under the control of the U.N. which will bring on to the U.S. a massive wealth transfer from the U.S. to pay reparations for climate debt to third world Countries, the new government will enforce the treaty's provisions.

That is the major threat America faces today, and Obama is whole-heartly for it.

The biggest threat are the MUSLIM RADICALS inside this country. I know that if we have another huge attack on this country we will invade some Asscrackistan country, instead of looking within to make our country secure.

I will say this again. We need to find/deport all of the illegal alien muslims in this country, this is the biggest threat. Unfortunately this will never happen.

Will we ever tame Pakistan or Afganistan? No way! But, can we do things such as have an entry/exit tracking program for visitors to this country? Yes! Will it ever happen? No way!

The Clobal Warming is to be discussed at Copenhagen and if not delayed by unforseen events it will lesd to the New-World-Order, one world government under the control of the U.N. which will bring on to the U.S. a massive wealth transfer from the U.S. to pay reparations for climate debt to third world Countries

Joseph McCarthy couldn't be any prouder.

#19 Zombie Strange how some people think that they know after downing a few bottles of cheap malt liquor.

It sure is, now we all know what Zombies drink...

But I thought universal healthcare is the greatest threat to America.

Out of all the verbose nonsense, I can only pick up the main theme... "US is out to get Pakistan".

Dude... we know that. LOL

Second point... President Zardari said something...."bla bla bla"...

Are you aware he has been diagnosed with dementia? He spends hours looking at a blank wall.... an activity he is said to enjoy.

Don't take anything HE said, too seriously. LOL

Out of all the verbose nonsense, I can only pick up the main theme... "US is out to get Pakistan".

Ah, yes, now we're out to fuck over our allies. Or, maybe... just maybe Obama is trying to placate critics at home and acknowledge the root cause behind the madness of the last 8 years. A single terrorist organization is the reason that the US came to your country for assistance. Al qaida has been decimated but the process of doing so has created quite a mess. That mess may lie only a few kilometers from your doorstep, and it is in the interests of both Pakistan and the US to clean it up. Our governments may not agree on how to do it, but it must be done.

The occupation of Afghanistan cannot be sustained indefinitely. When the US withdraws, it can do so and leave Pakistan with a nest of vipers in it's back yard, or it can leave you with a slightly less-dysfunctional neighbor. Your choice.

Don't take anything HE said, too seriously.

I stopped taking the Pakistani government seriously around the same time I first met Pakistanis. Much like I stopped taking the American government at its word... well... now that I think of it I never really did. Whatever. Aside from bin Ladin's head in a basket, the US has gotten what it wanted out of the invasion of Afghanistan. How do you suggest we repair the damage caused in the process and leave the area with fewer problems than it had when we arrived?

It sure is, now we all know what Zombies drink...

6 oz fresh brains
1.5 oz ground spinal cord (de-boned)
3 oz Patron tequila
1.5 oz Triple Sec
1.5 oz Bacardi 151
1.5 oz mammalian cerebrospinal fluid
1.5 oz orange juice

Blend with ice and serve in a large, frosted glass.

When the US withdraws, it can do so and leave Pakistan with a nest of vipers in it's back yard, or it can leave you with a slightly less-dysfunctional neighbor. Your choice.

Pakistan made it's choice in 2003-2004 when it decimated "al-qaeda" and broke it's back forever.

Now the only "al-qaeda" that exists, is in the imaginations of Americans who believe the crap their Govt. tells them.

Now Pakistan's second choice is basically to help the US remain in Afghanistan for as long as it wants. It doesn't matter to us if Afghanistan is full of American vipers or Taliban vipers... we have shown more ability than most to deal with either.

the US has gotten what it wanted out of the invasion of Afghanistan.

Nope. Not by a long shot.

How do you suggest we repair the damage caused in the process and leave the area with fewer problems than it had when we arrived?

I have no suggestions. Only observations.

America has more to fear from local gangs than al qaeda. Al qaeda is nothing more than thugs--criminals--less ordered, and less of a theat than organized crime.

More Americans have died through the orders of Bush than have died through the orders of al qaeda.

Pakistan made it's choice in 2003-2004 when it decimated "al-qaeda" and broke it's back forever.

Forever? The main concern in the US is that a hasty withdrawal will allow al qaida to regroup. The al qaida of 9/10/2001 lies in shambles - that is widely known. Extremists who want to stage attacks on the US are still scattered around the world, though, and nobody here wants to create an environment where a successor to al qaida can flourish.

It doesn't matter to us if Afghanistan is full of American vipers or Taliban vipers... we have shown more ability than most to deal with either.

The only problem that the US has with your methods of dealing with these vipers is that some in your government are perfectly content to live with a snake pit next door. The US cannot withdraw from Afghanistan prematurely. Not only will we bear the guilt of allowing a yet another country that we "liberated" to fall into anarchy, but we will also have to deal with the consequences of allowing militants another safe haven.

Yes, militants already have safe haven in Afghanistan despite our presence there. At least now they know they need to keep their heads down. What happens when that responsibility is shifted entirely to Pakistan? Can the US depend on your country for its own safety?

The US cannot withdraw from Afghanistan prematurely.

Then don't. Stay as loooonnngggg as you like. LOL

Can the US depend on your country for its own safety?

The US will make Hillary say that the US can depend on Pakistan to keep the US safe forever. LOL

Not a problem.

Remember, the impossible becomes possible in the Age of The Messiah.

Perhaps you do not realize this, tosser, but there are many in the US who are acutely aware of our country's history of conveniently forgetting about countries that we have "liberated" once the going gets tough. No one wants to repeat that mistake again in Afghanistan. The US invaded because it was attacked by terrorists who found shelter there, but there is no justice if our safety comes at the expense of others.

My country has inflicted a lot of damage in the process of ensuring its own security. If we fail to leave Afghanistan and its neighbors with more than they had when we arrived, we are ultimately no better than the Taliban. Both our honor and untold human lives are at stake. You may not give a damn about the former, but you should definitely be concerned about the latter.

The US invaded because it was attacked by terrorists who found shelter there,

The US invaded to get itself a base from where it can do harm to Pakistan, Iran and China.

Period.

Now enjoy the Afghan vacation. LOL

we are ultimately no better than the Taliban.

You never were.

Then don't. Stay as loooonnngggg as you like. LOL

Nobody in the US wants to be there a second longer than is necessary. How long is necessary? That depends on who you ask. We don't want to be attacked, and we don't want to desert a bunch of people who have been caught in the crossfire for decades simply because we got what we came for. We also want our soldiers to come home.

I understand that the Pakistani military is benefiting from continued US involvement in Afghanistan. I don't care if your army drives around in buses adorned with chickens and tassels or the latest Abrams tanks. I want the terrorist organization that attacked my country to be annihilated, and I want my country to repair the damage it has done along the way. Is this an unrealistic expectation?

The US will make Hillary say that the US can depend on Pakistan to keep the US safe forever. LOL

LOL indeed. I don't care what some dingbat government official says. Reality has a way of shining through the bullshit in the end.

Not a problem.

Is that so?

The US invaded to get itself a base from where it can do harm to Pakistan, Iran and China.

Hardly. The US has no rational basis for doing harm to any of these countries, especially Pakistan. Even with Iran, the US has far more to gain by pursuing diplomacy.

It is politically advantageous for some to talk shit about Iran and China. The US will have no involvement in any attack on Iran. At the very worst, it will turn a blind eye to an Israeli attack and then revile the Israelis for launching it. Our forces in Afghanistan are irrelevant. As far as china is concerned, well... you don't pull a gun on your banker if you want a loan from him in the future. Once again, our forces in Afghanistan are irrelevant.

You never were.

For someone who has been fucked over by the US in the past, perhaps that is true. One more reason not to do the same in Afghanistan.

It's all about controlling the Natural Resources in the middle east and subsequently controlling or better yet fucking over the China and Iran.

Larry

I don't care if your army drives around in buses adorned with chickens and tassels or the latest Abrams tanks.

Pakistan rejected the Abrams long long ago when it failed it's tests in the Pak environment.

I want the terrorist organization that attacked my country to be annihilated

We did that in 2003-2004.

Say "thank you".

The US has no rational basis for doing harm to any of these countries, especially Pakistan.

The US wants to do maximum harm to Pakistan.

That is the MAIN REASON it is in Afghanistan.

But again, that is not a problem.

As far as china is concerned, well... you don't pull a gun on your banker if you want a loan from him in the future. Once again, our forces in Afghanistan are irrelevant.

How do you break out of jail? By working a tiny spot over and over until the weakness can be made weaker and exploited further.

Not a big force needed for that.

Understand one thing.

We are on to you.

American planning isn't based on smarts. It's based on sheer bullheadedness.

Everybody knows what is going on... except the American public... LOL

You are sick of your countrymen taking bullets for a country that you view as an adversary. I'm sick of seeing caskets unloaded from airplanes. I'm sick of reading about people setting off bombs in your country because of its support for the US. Nobody wants this.

Unfortunately, Pakistanis will continue to die as long as the US is in Afghanistan, and Afghanistan will descend into anarchy if the US pulls out now. The chances of "victory" as I've defined it are slim. It's a Catch-22. Either way, someone is screwed. I don't blame you for not wanting Pakistan to get fucked. The US wants to minimize the amount of damage done in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Our goals may not be in on this, and it will cause problems in the future if we stay in Afghanistan.

When you know that human suffering is inevitable, but you have the power to decide who will suffer, there are no good decisions. There is only a lesser evil. That may be the way of the world, but it is not something to be accepted lightly or without making an effort to change it. Who knows what decision the US government will make. I don't know what to say other than that I wish you and your countrymen the best.

How do you break out of jail? By working a tiny spot over and over until the weakness can be made weaker and exploited further.

When the US antagonizes China, it is generally not through military means.

Understand one thing.

We are on to you.

Huh?

American planning isn't based on smarts. It's based on sheer bullheadedness.

Of course the US does that. When you have the military might of a superpower at your command, it does not encourage long-term strategic planning. You have the world's biggest hammer, and every problem is reduced to a nail begging to be pounded in without a moment's thought. Less "powerful" nations are forced to exhaustively plan their actions. We are not.

But what does that have to do with the current situation? We are where we are. Our government has just changed, and the incoming administration must make the most of the situation that it inherited. As I've said earlier, "making the most of it" can be reduced to a choice between the lesser of two evils with a slim hope of success in the background.

The US wants to do maximum harm to Pakistan.

Why? How?

The US wants to do maximum harm to Pakistan.

Why? How?

Well, for one thing; it would be really simple for your world view if we did not have nuclear weapons or a nuclear complex.

And if Balochistan was an independent country (as some have wished) you could bypass the power/opinion of Sindh, Punjab and NWFP to enter or leave Central Asia at your whim and fancy. Of course because these four units are one complex country with its own strategic objectives, it makes it difficult for your guys to enter Central Asia.

Two things at Tosser:

1) Whats our strategic final objective in FATA?

Integration of the tribal areas with NWFP?

I hope so...

2) I found by accident who the man is who wrote and drew the "Blood Borders" map. He's 40% mad, 45% Drudge-Tard conservative and 15% Goatman.

15% is better than none!

Who knows what decision the US government will make.

We know.

You have lost the game. Now you can only save some face.

I hope so...

So do I.

The concept of "ghair ilaqa" is a romantic one, but as you have seen, it can be exploited by our enemy.

I found by accident who the man is who wrote and drew the "Blood Borders" map. He's 40% mad, 45% Drudge-Tard conservative and 15% Goatman.

I would call him a 100% tool.

He only did that as a probe for someone else higher up.

When the US antagonizes China, it is generally not through military means.

Though that is what it stupidly keeps doing.

From ships spying too close to their waters, to spy-planes that fly too close to their borders, to the childish propaganda campaign the US orchestrated against China before the Olympics....

You are trying to scratch at China.. trying to see how they might react.... you are trying to get to China through Pakistan as well, trying to be our "friend"....

Pakistan may be 60 years old. But Sapta-Sindhu is over 5,000 years old. LOL

We are the masters of the East and we will still be around when all others are dead. We always prevail.

My own family has been here since the last 800 years... and I am regarded as a baby.

The people who keep an eye on our "friends"... have far older heritages. They are the secret power who control Pakistan. The keys to our control are not just given to any Tom Dick or Harry. They come from heritage and family.

We are old. Older than you can imagine. And we have more tricks up our sleeves than you can ever imagine.

Hope and pray we do not have to bring our power to bear on your people. The last time we used our power to shatter the Soviet Union.

How many pieces will you shatter into? 50? or 500? LOL

Still wanna be our "friend"?

Anyway.. fuck it...

Hey YS!

Want to blow your mind?

Watch THIS!

WHO IS THE KID???

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

He only did that as a probe for someone else higher up.

I've gone through his writings.

And since you bring up "deep" connections this brute force "tool" person once in a throwaway paragraph said thank you to "a select group of career US Army NCO's and Officers who stayed after Vietnam to Re-Build the United States Army".

Was Indo-China That bad?

So yeah - deep connections.

They come from heritage and family

Its about 10,000 families isn't it?

Nahhhhhhhhhhh it's not a force from outside that is the greatest threat to the United States Obama. It is Greed within the United States that is the BIGGEST threat to the United States. We either stop being so greedy or that greed is gonna kill us all. Mark My Words.

Larry

Its about 10,000 families isn't it?

Not necessarily, when it comes to real power. The ones with the most pull aren't the richest and nobody really knows them.

Point is, if the Americans take care of the Pakistani leadership... buy/bribe/kill them off..., and they think they have "won", ... LOL... no mates, there is "someone" who will always be around to sort you out.

Anyway, YS, see the video!

I wanted to bang my head against my computer! LOL

see the video

Bloody Hell!!!

If its true; then my God its Crazy! Our President as a child star! And that too Zardari! Now we know where he gets all his skillz from.

And I mean skillz...that kid was Karachi sarcastic!

Damn; thanks tosser.

Bloody Hell!!!

Yeah!

If its true

LOL... it's true. It's really really true. hahahahahahaha

And the Punjabi dude was right. I know quite a few kids who are pretty good at acting. But they're all becoming actuaries or doctors because they're good at that too.

And if Zardari had stuck to acting...well Amitabh Bhachan bye-bye. Maybe Amir Khan would be a challenge.

If Zaradri had stuck to acting, he might be a far happier man than the former jail-bird we know today.

Yo, its a 1969 movie and if it really is Zardari he was one scrawny 13 year old.

I'm going through the credits and my God, I recognised all the six names of the playback players!

If Zaradri had stuck to acting

My friend told me that during the eighties - he made this his One Simple Goal; to marry Benazir Bhutto.

His father, Hakim Ali Zardari, owned Bambino Cinema. I am guessing that might have somehow worked into getting our Zardari into the movies.

No way!

Then the Government brings this on themselves.

Because if the U.S. is struck again in any significant way, I don't think it will be the "government" rounding all of them up either.

Am watching - its fascinating.

Am 3 minutes into it

Sigh...You just don't hear the names Qadri or Qamar, spelt that way anymore.

And no more Begums.

Everybody's surname and first name are now both araboc or both Persian

No more Persian Arabic mixing. Sad :'-(

Obama: Al Qaeda Greatest Threat to US

I hope he takes this threat with the utmost seriousness.

I am still in wait-and-see mode, but I am not thrilled with the direction he seems to be heading in regards to dealing with this threat.

Its not him in Salgiraa. Too bad.

Don't be too sure. The info might be incomplete. Everyone on PDF sez, it's him in Salgira.

The original link was removed from YouTube (I gave you a back-up link). Mr.President appears quite sensitive about it. LOL

Yeah...right...al Qaeda is such a serious threat, we've got to bring them to NYC and bestow Constitutional rights on them!! That'll teach 'em!

The last time an attack on the World Trade Center was treated as a matter of domestic criminal justice was after a bomb was exploded there in 1993. Under the rules of American criminal law, the prosecution had to turn over all sorts of information to the defense information that told Al Qaeda what we knew about them and how we knew it.

This was nothing more and nothing less than giving away military secrets to an enemy in wartime!

I can't think of a better way to deal with such a grave threat!

This guy is an unmitigated train wreck of a President!

"Yeah...right...al Qaeda is such a serious threat, we've got to bring them to NYC and bestow Constitutional rights on them!! That'll teach 'em!"

What, you don't think the American legal system can try these guys (who are accused of conspirig to commit mass murder on American soil)? Why?

The greatest threat to American security remains America itself.

America essentially built Al Quaeda and the Taliban from the ground up from spare parts lying around like Doctor Frankenstein.

And now Obama points at the monster without acknowledging it's creator.

A bunch of fundie fuckwits inna cave are not capable of bringing America down.

If America FAILs it will be from internal stresses not external ones.

Be Well.

"What, you don't think the American legal system can try these guys (who are accused of conspirig to commit mass murder on American soil)? Why?"

Doc,
This question is a joke, right? Here are just a few reasons why "the American legal system" is the wrong place for him.

The trial can only be considered fair if there is a presumption of innocence and the possibility of acquittal. The defense team will use every avenue available to see to it that he walks. KSM has now been granted a bevy of rights that the defense will claim have already been violated.

The defense can argue that the entire process leading up to the trial has been illegal and everything derived from it is inadmissable. The Sheikh was picked up in Pakistan, by a combined team of Pakistan Military Intelligence and CIA operatives. The legality of his transfer to U.S. custody is probably murky. He reportedly was not read Miranda rights at that time and was refused a lawyer when he asked for one.

The chain of custody for physical evidence probably does not meet federal standards, and even that which does hold up could be found to be illegally seized or transferred.

The circumstances of KSM's detention will also be an important focus of the trial. He was famously waterboarded 183 times, which the Obama administration quickly declared to be torture. This not only makes any statements he made in custody inadmissible but could be grounds for immediate release. He also could claim that his right to a speedy trial has been violated because he has been in custody for six years; a ruling in his favor would dismiss the indictment.

Perhaps you consider all this a "fair trial"...and you'll feel better about your country when KSM leaves New York a free man.

I agree the biggest threat to America is from within... Health Care Reform that is more of a give away than any type of fix of the current problems. Large coperate bailouts and control of the free market by government officals. Let free markets be free to fail or profit. Let government restrict and regulate only enough to protect not to control. Massive debt left by the last and current POTUS. Illegal Immigration unchecked and unrestricted including give aways of health care, education, welfare, and jobs. These are the things that are an immenent treat and will have far more impact on our daily lives than what al queda can muster at this point. While I agree that we must keep a close watch and have the right to preemtive defense agaisnt anyone who threats us with mass distruction the real devil is within our own government and includes the administration, and congress. Term Limits are the best option at this time.

The Sheikh was picked up in Pakistan, by a combined team of Pakistan Military Intelligence and CIA operatives. The legality of his transfer to U.S. custody is probably murky.

1. He isn't "the Shaikh" or "a Shaikh". "Shaikh" is part of his name.

2. He was picked up by Pakistani cops. No military intelligence or CIA were involved.

3. Prisoners were handed over to the US under a an old treaty between Britain and the US. Since Pakistan was part of the British Empire before 1947, both India and Pakistan can have prisoners extradited to the US and brought back from there, using that document. It is all very legal.

America essentially built Al Quaeda and the Taliban from the ground up from spare parts lying around like Doctor Frankenstein.

Correction... America built al-Qaeda. Pakistan built the taliban.

Which is why al-Qaeda is deader than dead. American stuff just doesn't seem to last, does it?

Taliban, however, will keep going strong. LOL

The only graceful way for America to end this is to bring the taliban to the table and offer them Karsick's job.

The best way for the US to end this would be to turn both Afganistan and Pakistan into molten piles of manure (although no one may notice the difference).

From a Recon Marine in Afghanistan
This is good... (Pasted in two parts due to length)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~
From the Sand Pit. It's freezing here. I'm sitting on hard, cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains , along the Dar 'yoi Pomir River , watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.

I also glance at the area around my ass every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting. I've actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but them scorpions give a jolt like a cattle prod. Hurts like a bastard. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid, but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.

The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water. That requires couriers and that's where an old bounty hunter like me comes in handy. I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances & storage facilities, type the info into the handheld, and shoot the coordinates up to the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the hardware. We bash some heads for a while, and then I track and record the new movement.
It's all about intelligence. We haven't even brought in the snipers yet. These scurrying rats have no idea what they're in for. We are but days away from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.

I dream of bin Laden waking up to find me standing over him with my boot on his throat as I spit into his face and plunge my K-Bar through his frontal lobe. But you know me, I'm a romantic. I've said it before and I'll say it again: This country blows, man. It's not even a country. There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit shit hole ruled by eleventh century warring tribes. There are no jobs here like we know jobs.
Afghanistan offers two ways for a man to support his family: join the opium trade or join the army. That's it. Those are your options. Oh, I forgot, you can also live in a refugee camp and eat plum-sweetened, crushed beetle paste, and squirt mud like a goose with stomach flu, if that's your idea of a party. But the smell alone of those 'tent cities of the walking dead' is enough to hurl you into the poppy fields to cheerfully scrape bulbs for eighteen hours a day.
I've been living with these Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmen, and even a couple of Pushtuns, for over a month-and-a-half now, and this much I can say for sure: These guys, all of 'em, are Huns... actual, living Huns... They LIVE to fight. It's what they do. It's ALL they do! They have no respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor. Huns, roaming packs of savage, heartless beasts who feed on each other's barbarism. Cavemen with AK-47's. Then again, maybe I'm just cranky.
I'm freezing my ass off on this stupid hill because my lap warmer is running out of juice, and I can't recharge it until the sun comes up in a few hours. Oh yeah! You like to write letters, right? Do me a favor, Bizarre. Write a letter to CNN and tell Wolf and Anderson and that awful, sneering, pompous Aaron Brown to stop calling the Taliban 'smart...' They are not smart. I suggest CNN invest in a dictionary because the word they are looking for is 'cunning.' The Taliban are cunning, like jackals, hyenas, and wolverines. They are sneaky and ruthless, but when confronted, cowardly. They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and destroy everything else. Smart... Pfft. Yeah, they're real smart.
They've spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They're still trying to figure out how to work a Bic lighter. Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.
OK, enough. Snuffle will be up soon, so I have to get back to my hole. Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I'm good at it.
Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter bullshit and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials. We've got this one under control. The worst thing you guys can do right now is sit around analyzing what we're doing over here, because you have no idea what we're doing, and really, you don't want to know. We are your military, and we are doing what you sent us here to do.
You wanna help? Buy Bonds America .

There are more flies in that bowl of soup than there is broth. No need to make a scene or send it back to the kitchen. That's how you get spit and flies in your soup. Just walk away. Without paying.

I hope he takes this threat with the utmost seriousness.

I am still in wait-and-see mode, but I am not thrilled with the direction he seems to be heading in regards to dealing with this threat.

I believe Al Queda is a threat, but isn't the biggest threat to the usa. That would be the likes of the last regime, who created preemptive wars out of whole cloth, placed political ideology over our govt, our constitution and rules of law, AND their unhinged supporters, who cannot seem to accept the failure of their neocon heroes and the results of the election last November. Instead, they are spending inordinate amounts of time and money to denigrate our potus BEFORE he fails......unlike the 90% who rallied behind aWol, even after he allowed 911 to occur on his watch.....

Poor Foshaffer isn't intelligent enough to know that it's illegal to post something without offering a link to it's source, in this case, a far right extremist neocon site, "the new republic". Perhaps Fo wants everyone to think he wrote it?

Of course, it is possible he wrote it......

the idea that you would prefer to read propaganda from a far right extremist source, that matches your mindset, instead of a valid, credible NEWS JOURNALISM source, pretty much says it all about you, eh?

Dumbasses such as you expose yourself and don't even realize it.

Who are you directing that at?

I don't remember. Probably some bumbling rightwing loon.

Everyone knows which race is sterotyped with " malt liquor ".

Not the angle I was going for. Malt liquor is the preferred poison of any alcoholic because you get quite a bit of bang for your buck. Sorry if anyone took it as a racial comment. I'm insinuating that someone's mind has been pickled by decades of alcohol abuse.

Zombie you racist pig!

Oh, man, I missed out on the glory that is apparently Schlitz. Pabst is my shitty beer of choice, but I'd much rather go without the buzz and enjoy a lone bottle of something brewed by Dogfish Head.

***Bombshell: Bin Laden worked for US till 9/11

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds dropped a bombshell on the Mike Malloy radio show, guest-hosted by Brad Friedman (audio, partial transcript).

In the interview, Sibel says that the US maintained 'intimate relations' with Bin Laden, and the Taliban, "all the way until that day of September 11."

These 'intimate relations' included using Bin Laden for 'operations' in Central Asia, including Xinjiang, China. These 'operations' involved using al Qaeda and the Taliban in the same manner "as we did during the Afghan and Soviet conflict," that is, fighting 'enemies' via proxies.

As Sibel has previously described, and as she reiterates in this latest interview, this process involved using Turkey (with assistance from 'actors from Pakistan, and Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia') as a proxy, which in turn used Bin Laden and the Taliban and others as a proxy terrorist army.

Control of Central Asia
The goals of the American 'statesmen' directing these activities included control of Central Asia's vast energy supplies and new markets for military products.

I wonder if Obama backs what the FBI said about CAIR?

#105 - Oh sure - but only if he bends over far enough!

Vets' Caregiver Bill Stalled
Week of November 16, 2009
More than a month after the new fiscal year began, the House and Senate are working to pass a group of bills to improve veterans' benefits and health programs. However, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), is stalling the bill's process because he believes his colleagues are too willing to pass or spend whatever is necessary to assure their reelection. The $3.7 billion packet of health care initiatives, called an omnibus bill, includes the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2009 (S. 1963).

Those damned libs, eh? (snark)

"Those damned libs, eh?"

Coburn's got nothing to worry about. He said that he doesn't vote for a single bill that doesn't have a corresponding cut in spending somewhere else. At least that's what he said, which is all his constituents will probably think about.

which is all his constituents will probably think about.

Unless their family is one of the 5% who actually have a veteran, eh?

Ok, then.

Uh, remind me, did this Coburn pos vote to place our military in harm's way?

How about it Hag?

Did Coburn vote to place our troops in harm's way, and in doing so spend a couple trillion and counting?

Tell me, where did he cut the budget for that?

(crickets chirping, eh?)

"Unless their family is one of the 5% who actually have a veteran, eh?"

I think OK has a few more than the average, but not enough to swing that red state blue.

"Did Coburn vote to place our troops in harm's way, and in doing so spend a couple trillion and counting?"

Yep.

"Tell me, where did he cut the budget for that?"

He didn't. I heard him write that off recently as one of his initial votes as Senator.

I've no interest in defending the guy, I'm just telling you how I think it will play out.

Ok, I see, you were pointing out what a fkn liar he is.......it wasn't that clear by your first post.

Thanks for the clarification.

"it wasn't that clear by your first post."

Maybe I could see that by my lead statement, "Coburn's got nothing to worry about," but by the time I got to "At least that's what he said, which is all his constituents will probably think about," I would have thought my intent was obvious.

Maybe I could have italicized said I guess.

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good?

Ugh.

Sometimes people are just used to seeing muggers around every corner and they attack before being sure. Lisa had a particularly contentious evening and Woke is... well, woke. I don't hold it against them.

#6 | Posted by northguy3

Oh, man, who's been sniffing the glue? If you really believe what you posted you are paranoid and delusional. Are the right wing crazies trying to acquire nuclear material to use against America? I haven't heard a single report of the right attempting this, yet you say that they are the biggest threat to America.

This is only one example I am using to show why Al Qaeda is more dangerous than any right wing group. I could go on and on as to why you are full of it. I'll leave thta to you though. Show us how any right wing group is more dangerous than Al Qaeda?

None so blind as those who WILL not see, eh?

The people who have repeatedly denied Americans the rights in our constitution and rules of law are not a handful of well financed Saudis.

Although, if you mean that the neocons in the last admin tried to make America MORE like our enemies, then perhaps you have a point.

America will not be taken down from without, but if it occurs, God forbid, it will be done from within.

Now, tell us why you aren't as scared shitless by the right wing crazies like Tim McVeigh as you are a few Saudis?

And we won every battle in Vietnam, as well.

No conventional foreign occupying army has ever defeated a homegrown guerilla insurgency.

Perhaps you might want think about WHY lilaWol/hallichainy put our troops in harm's way in a no win senario?

Again, no Iraqis or Afghanis were among those who attacked the USA on 911, so why should their countries be destroyed and hundreds of thousands of their people killed, maimed, incarcerated and displaced.

Do tell us.

Verbatim quotes from when Clinton was committing troops to Bosnia:
"You can support the troops but not the president."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years."
---Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"
---Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
---Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain the y have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy."
---Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."
---Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
-Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
-Governor George W Bush (R-TX)

Now, imagine if Clinton had killed the man who's father and brother were in business with GHWBush41 before he was actually certified as being involved in any terrorist attacks on Americans...

See if you can find the date OBL was certified as being part of terror plots against the USA.

IT'S THE PIPELINE, STUPID

British Ambassador Murray asserts that the primary motivation for US and British military involvement in central Asia has to do with large natural gas deposits in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. As evidence, he points to the plans to build a natural gas pipeline through Afghanistan that would allow Western oil companies to avoid Russia and Iran when transporting natural gas out of the region.

Murray alleged that in the late 1990s the Uzbek ambassador to the US met with then-Texas Governor George W. Bush to discuss a pipeline for the region, and out of that meeting came agreements that would see Texas-based Enron gain the rights to Uzbekistan's natural gas deposits, while oil company Unocal worked on developing the Trans-Afghanistan pipeline.

"The consultant who was organizing this for Unocal was a certain Mr. Karzai, who is now president of Afghanistan," Murray noted who went on to say,
"I'm talking of people being raped with broken bottles," he said at a lecture late last month that was re-broadcast by the Real News Network. "I'm talking of people having their children tortured in front of them until they sign a confession. I'm talking of people being boiled alive. And the intelligence from these torture sessions was being received by the CIA, and was being passed on."

For blowing the whistle on these crimes, Murray was fired from his Ambassadorship in 2004.

This is so funny as there is no amount of damage Al Queda could do to this country that could come close to the destruction of our way of life that this administration is doing.

Oh, yeah?

Has Obama ignored the rule of law and geneva conventions?
No?
How about ignoring the US constitution and spying on Americans with no probable cause?
No?
How about pre emptively invading/occupying countries that didn't attack the usa?
No?
How about deregulating giant global corporations and banking and allowing them to skip paying taxes via offshore offices?
No?

Just wtf are you talking about "sarge"?

woke has never heard of Bagram or Gitmo.
He's also unaware that the Obama Admin invokes Government Secrecy while defending the Bush wiretaps.
He's also unaware of our strikes and incursions in to Pakistan.
He must not know that the Obama admin doesn't give a shit about skipping out on taxes and they cater to global corporations.

You make Max Cleland happy he cut off his own legs. Otherwise he'd have to march over to your place and kick you in the ass.

Max Cleland lost both legs and an arm, when a cherryboy like 101, who jumped out of a chopper in front of him, had not secured his grenades (by bending the pin) and Max bent down to pick it up, thinking it was his when he jumped out....and was a secured grenade.....

This occurred as he was part of a force trying to secure about 5k US troops from 20k plus NVA in the battle of Khe Sahn....one of the toughest battles of the VN war.

101 on the otherhand, if he served at all, which is pretty doubtful considering his denigration of war veterans, probably had some serious issues scrubbing those pots and pans......

eh cherryboy 101airhead?

Now that the neocon curse has been defeated, the greatest threat the US govt faces is from within......the remaining tiny minority who are still cheering for the neocon failures ......

See if you can find the date OBL was certified as being part of terror plots against the USA.

Certified?

What the fuck, they put a stamp on his forehead??

The 9 11 report makes it pretty fucking clear we knew who he was and what he did.

And it also makes clear that Clinton did not approve of the first planned attack, which would have consisted of a cruise missile taking OBL out, or the second attacke for which $7M was spent in preparation for, including an entire mock drill. It was ready to go and he pulled the plug.

What the fuck does Bosnia have to do with that??

And I believe those 2 incidents were before Bosnia was ever bombed.

Bosnia was a distraction from Sick Willy's domestic woes.

Boo,

Well, by certified, I meant that some/any US agency charged with doing such things, "certified" he was a perp.

Uh, you think Clinton should have killed/captured OBL after 911?

WTF? How does that make any sense son?

Why aren't you railing at bush for not capturing/killing him?

The point I was making is that the repugs put politics above our country.....

The usa was attacked in Feb 93, barely a month after Clinton took office. The repug congress spent $70 million on 11 bogus investigations of Clinton which yielded zero indictments so they impeached him anyhow for something that was nobody else's business....basically ignoring our true enemies and making clinton their #1 enemy.

Based on what they spewed about his Bosnia action, (funny how NONE of them said any of that shit about iraqnam, eh?) had Clinton went after OBL, whose daddy and brother was in business with GHWBush41 and who had a long history with the CIA, the repugs would have likely crucified him instead of impeaching him.

Now, despite the complete and utter failures of the repug/neocon admin, they have now designated Obama as America's greatest enemy. Are you following me here buddy?
GOP=party politics over country.

Now, do some research on how the balkans might have involved him.

One of the former State Department officials has described Bosnia and Herzegovina of that time as a safe haven for terrorists, after it was revealed that militant elements of the former Sarajevo government were protecting extremists, some with ties to Osama bin Laden.[50

Scroll down to Balkan wars and word up....

Later

The point I was making is that the repugs put politics above our country.....

and oh, yeah, if you got nuthin new to say, stfu...eh?

Good advice. Take it, hypocrite, eh? LOL

"The repug congress spent $70 million on 11 bogus investigations of Clinton which yielded zero indictments so they impeached him anyhow for something that was nobody else's business....basically ignoring our true enemies and making clinton their #1 enemy."

Kenneth Starr was appointed by Clinton to do an investigation. He was closing the book on Whitewater when the sexual harassment shit reared its ugly head.

The sexual harassment allegations had to be investigated. It was just a couple of short years earlier that sexual harassment laws were enacted, and Bill quite frankly couldn't care less.

He could have called off his special investigator at any time. It would have probably gone over as well as when Bushy fired all of those attorneys though.

I hear a teeny tiny little mosquito buzzing around in a circle like little stalker....LOL

Anyhow, I misspoke.

OBL was indicted in June 98 as a perp who had something to do with attacking Americans in Africa....however, right wing reports that Clinton did nothing to take him into custody are false.

Shortly after the September 11 attacks it was revealed that President Clinton had signed a directive authorizing the CIA (and specifically their elite Special Activities Division) to apprehend bin Laden and bring him to the United States to stand trial after the 1998 United States embassy bombings in Africa; if taking bin Laden alive was deemed impossible, then deadly force was authorized.[101] On August 20, 1998, 66 cruise missiles launched by United States Navy ships in the Arabian Sea struck bin Laden's training camps near Khost in Afghanistan, narrowly missing him by a few hours.[102] In 1999 the CIA, together with Pakistani military intelligence, had prepared a team of approximately 60 Pakistani commandos to infiltrate Afghanistan to capture or kill bin Laden, but the plan was aborted by the 1999 Pakistani coup d'tat;[102] in 2000, foreign operatives working on behalf of the CIA had fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a convoy of vehicles in which bin Laden was traveling through the mountains of Afghanistan, hitting one of the vehicles but not the one bin Laden was in.[101]
In 2000, prior to the September 11 attacks, Paul Bremer characterized the Clinton administration as "correctly focused on bin Laden", while Robert Oakley criticized their "obsession with Osama".[76]

I guess (after the fact of 911) the repugs felt Clinton should have hunted him down and took him all by himself, with the entire repug congress draped around him, dragging him into court for lying about a marital infidelity, eh?

Yet, I still never hear any repug supporters wonder why bush didn't get him....

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"
- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI

"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don't know...."
- Bush, in remarks in a Press Availablity with the Press Travel Pool,
The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on
official White House site

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)
