The reason they live in shipping containers is because they havene't seen this commercial.

For about 50 Years My Great Aunt lived in 2 boxcars in the shape of an L with Her Husband and 2 kids. That's all they could afford and were quite happy about it too.

The Market has decided: Let them eat their cake in shipping containers.

I've seen some of those cargo container homes. They can be done very nicely and are reasonably economical.

I wouldn't mind living in one.

They are still fucking ugly.

I could see having one set up as a hunting cabin. Maybe on a high knoll in the woods, with a wood-burning stove and a hammock, or somethin'. I have a friend who's a telegrapger for CSX, and he's told me about folks actually yanking boxcars off the tracks and dragging them out into the desert to live in out west. Musta been some of Larry's folks...

~(:^)

Nahhhhhhh My Grandfather My Great Grandfather 3 Uncles and a host of others used to work for the ATSF Railroad Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe so She got the two from one of them. I can't remember who. Oh and they moved them into town. I think they are still there not sure.

I was razzin' ya, Larry. He mentioned West Texas and New Mexico.

I'd like to have an early 20th century passenger coach to turn into a cabin. Like one of these

I know

Now that would rock. Someplace quiet and out in the sticks with that passanger coach. Peace and Quiet.

Oh, I know, you puling hypocrites on the Left (so far out on the left you'd make Vladimir I. Ulyanov, a.k.a. your buddy Lenin squirm) and the dog saliva eating enablers on the so-called Right (you tools would wet yourselves if you knew just how far right the iron fist can be extended) value your creature comforts. But, hey, you scarfer downers of regurigated tiger bait, look how easy it is for me to relocate my modular domicile -- the Kaczynski Model #A-O 1776) when subpoena servers and federal authorities start closing in: www.umt.edu So, be like me: stop whining and learn how to crap in the woods.

A bear and a rabbit were squatted down taking a shit when the bear turns to the rabbit and asks, "Do you have trouble with shit sticking to your fur?" "Not at all",replied the rabbit. "Good!" sez the bear, whereupon he grabs the rabbit and wipes his ass with him....

Tad's the bear.

What's up, Doc_?

hehehe..

Living in a shipping container.
Amazing Homes and Offices Built from Shipping Containers

Great! Looks like just the remedy for a couple weeks of temporary housing I'll need until I find an apt. I really like.

I wonder if they have 2-bedroom, 2 bath Bekin's containers with hardwood floors equipped with a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, a/c and a garage?

(j/k in case any new posters on here don't get my weird sense of humor)

This is soooooooooo cool! We have a friend who purchases shipping containers and the like and uses them for storage and garages for projects - great ideas in the slide show.

Saw one yesterday where the guy converted a garbage truck and is Origami King!

The aluminum ones are nice. I think you can get the 20' for under 2 grand.

An enterprising person would buy a few and sink them in the ground and make grow rooms, just saying.

Not a bad ideam Dxlinger...maybe a few coats of waterproofing beforehand. Make a nice extreme weather shelter, too. Or a cellar...plus you'd have a lot of weed to smoke while holed up....

ideam? haha!

I shared one of these with 2 dudes in Afghanistan, that was the housing at HQ ISAF. It wasn't too bad.
