AP Article - go to link. Basically, the article states that you may have to give some of it back next year - Seniors will have the $250.00 deducted from their tax credit. Just another in the long line of faux pas this administration is racking up.

Awesome.

Fuck France!

Did you even read the article nanc? Because your synopsis is not even "basically" correct.

Nanc, you might want to take a reading comprehension class because there is nothing in that article that says anyone has to give back any of their tax credit.

You get a $400 tax credit if you are single and married couples get $800. It does not say anywhere in the article that anyone has to give that back.

What it does say is that people should make sure their payroll deduction matches up with their expected tax bill if they want to avoid having to send the government a check to make up the difference between what they owe and what they've already paid in.

Do you not believe people should be responsible for their own finances Nanc? Do you believe if you don't pay in enough through the year then you shouldn't be expected to pay the difference? That would be great for me because I know I underpay. I'd rather have that money in my account making money for me until April 15th when it is due.

Don't be so hard on nanc.

She's just being "Fox-y".

I'd rather have that money in my account making money for me until April 15th when it is due.

I do the same thing. Earning a whopping 1.7%. Wooo hooo high finance.

'Because certain minutiae of the new Making Work Pay credit weren't factored in to withholding tables, more than 10% of taxpayers who file individual returns have been underpaying and will see a smaller refund than expected or actually owe money.'

Once again the govt has screwed up - the same govt so many fo you want to handle your health care. - Simply amazing. Can this administration get anything right?

Whether nanc hit the gist perfectly or not, you can't really deny that this is less than ideal. Perception is everything, and when the way the stimulus was enacted causes you to receive a bill from the IRS... The end result is unhappy people, and folks paying a bill they didn't necessarily see coming, putting a drain on the cash on hand people have to be spending in the economy.

end of the day, not a "win" for the administration.

I get the gist and feel sorry for those who were happy to get a measly $16 a week "extra" on their checks and may have to pay taxes on it.

p.s. - nothing is truly free when it comes to the government.

I'll probably owe a couple of grand in Taxes after I do my turbo taxes. I love paying taxes.

"Individuals with more than one job and married couples in which both spouses work may have to repay the government $400"

So? Just don't pay it.

-Tim Geithner, Treasury head

The tax credit, which is supposed to pay individuals up to $400 and couples up to $800, was Obama's signature tax break in the massive stimulus package enacted in February.

Never saw it.

Hope and change and slight of hand.

SUCKERS

bush sent me a lump sum check and didn't want any of it back.
