Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In a speech in Dallas Thursday, former President George W. Bush described his new think tank, the George W. Bush Public Policy Institute as "a vibrant hub of principled thought and practical action" and discussed the center at Southern Methodist University devoted to his term in office. "I came home to Texas with my values intact," he said.

Maybe Bush is launching a fish tank. Staring at an aquarium can be very relaxing.

George W. Bush Public Policy Institute

He should really have opened this thing in New Orleans. Right next to the Superdome.

But only if they let a little patch of brush grow next to the well-manicured golf course abutting the pretzel factory.

The headline that launched a thousand one liners.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOO!!!

He had to create a think tank to field all of the questions that his inexperienced successor is throwing to him.

Yeah, I notice Obama has Bush over at least once, maybe two or three times a week to discuss the issues of the day.

LOL!

This may surprise some of you, but I think Mr. Bush's presidency is not a fair reflection of who the man really is. I don't think he's stupid, and I think he has serious concerns about serious issues. He was destroyed by Cheney. Do I share Mr. Bush's politics? No. Do I think he's an utter moron? No.

Do I think a former president putting his stamp on such important issues is bad, even though it's this guy? Hell, no. I think some good could be done. Let's see who he invites.

"He had to create a think tank to field all of the questions..."

It'll have to be an awfully big tank. I don't recall the the brush-cutting boob being able to respond coherently to many questions when he was the diciderer in his misadministration.

"George W. Bush Launches Think Tank"

This is an Onion story, right?

Says he's gonna focus on education. That's pretty funny considering his ONE domestic policy, NCLB-(teaching to a test his relatives just happen to making millions selling to schools), was based on FLAWED data from a Houston City Schools program, which failed to document the students who DROPPED OUT as a result of the program.

Should have been named, MANY CHILDREN LEFT BEHIND

The Bush Crime Family Springs into action.

Translation: New methods of propagandizing countries are required in order to keep the proletariat in their place (i.e quietly working hard for little or no pay....)

The militarized fraudsters have lost ten countries in South America that are now booming because they kicked the fraudsters and their CIA assassins out. This presents a serious problem for the ruling class, especially if Americans wise up.

Just release photo of the think tank....

if you want a real think tank read John Farmers The Ground Truth.

After the Bushies deregulated America into a near depression, they want to spread that "philosophy" to the world?

What's it called, the Crony Corporatist Capitalists Criminals Club?

"I came home to Texas with my values intact," he said.

So it'll be built by halliburton, funded by the bin laden family and guarded by Xe. The only documents in it will be WH press releases and transcripts from FOX.

But the hot and cold running Wild Turkey sounds good.

"It'll have to be an awfully big tank. I don't recall the the brush-cutting boob being able to respond coherently to many questions when he was the diciderer in his misadministration."

Doc,

Ever hear your boy without a teleprompter? You have to be bilingual to follow him through the ibah's and the uhm and the ghetto speak. But hey, I am sure he is the first occupant of the big crib to ever give a shout out during a major speech.

How long did it take him to go to Ft. Hood anyway? Do you realise Bush was in New Orleans faster? Do you realise Bush was at Ft. Hood sooner (and with no photo op)? You can't learn class like that in duh hood!

W thought he was opening a Honky Tonk not a think tank. I wonder if he'll show up in a bathing suit.

What a great headline. Oh, the irony.

Doc,

Let me remind you of your boy's successes...

rapid decrease unemployment ugh, ugh, ugh

decisive action in Afghanistan ugh, ugh, ugh

Cap and trade ugh, ugh, ugh

cutting the deficits ugh, ugh, ugh

Success in preventing a nuclear Iran ugh, ugh, ugh

showing his keen diplomatic skills with the Queen of England ugh, ugh, ugh

George Bush continues to haunt you limpwristed pantpissers.

The reactions would be the exact same if he launched a rock from a slingshot.

While impugning Bush's smarts...

Ooohh.

Do a "mom's basement" crack, now.

George W. Bush Launches Think Tank

It'll use copies of all the speaches he mangled...Policy papers that dickless wrote for him.....

And a copy of my Pet Goat.
I wonder if they'll use a copy of the PDB on Osama Been Forgotten?
The Love Letters between him and the Saudi Princes?
How about the ones from Jeff Gannon? They gonna use those?
We should probably forget about him donating his TANG papers........

C'mon 101 you have to admit that there's a lot of humor potential in the Bush Think Tank concept.

Frank,

"How about the ones from Jeff Gannon? They gonna use those?"

You aren't a homophobe are you? What difference would it make if he were a bisexual? Does it trouble you that the same allegations have been made about the cocaine hoover from Chicago? Are there any "love letters" or are you being as accurate as the dems usually are when smearing George Bush?

Reagan,
There's humor potential in every thread!

That headline made my day: wow, a new oxymoron!!!!

Bush's Think Tank

You just can't make this stuff up. George W. Bush reportedly wants to start a think tank once he leaves office, dedicated to "the spread of democracy and Alexis de Tocqueville's vision of America as a nation made better by its "associations," or community groups." Sigh. Truth is, I think I'd rather bowl alone than bowl with Bush.

Tocqueville, of course, was concerned about the atomization of American society. Our individualistic strain, while good in moderation, could tear us apart, and associations and community groups were one way to retain protective social links. It's the exact opposite of the vision pushed by Bush's "ownership society," what with its fetishism of individualism and its inherent tendency towards yawning inequality.

Additionally, Tocqueville was writing for a French audience, attempting to explain that the aristocracy would crumble, and hierarchies would weaken, a process that was advancing in the United States.

"In an aristocratic family," he wrote, "as in aristocratic society generally, every place is marked. Not only does the father occupy a distinct rank and enjoy immense privileges, but children are not equal to one another. Age and sex irrevocably fix the rank and determine the prerogatives of each child. Democracy overturns or lowers most of these barriers."

Well, Bush sure proved that wrong. And he certainly would've threatened Tocqueville's conception of nobles, who he thought "despite the vast distance that separated them from the people, took a benevolent and tranquil interest in their fate, much as the shepherd concerns himself with the fate of his flock. Without regarding the poor as equals, they watched over the destiny of those whose welfare had been entrusted to them by Providence."

That or fleeced them for tax breaks.

www.prospect.org

"The reactions would be the exact same if he launched a rock from a slingshot."

Not really, we would be laughing even harder because he would have hit himself with the rock!!

LM

The four initial areas of focus, he said, will be education, global health, human freedom and economic growth.

.......the man clearly lacks a sense of irony......

Oh, that's just cringe worthy.

I supported Bush over both Gore and Kerry, but even I can't read that headline without doing the head-desk thing.

A Bush think tank? I wonder if it will work anything like water boarding? Liberals will be taken in, rung out for their intelligence and Bush will then take credit for it saying, see I told you so, torture can offer real intelligence to the RNC.

For some reason, a post that accuses another person of being unable to think, while at the same time using terms like "Whazza whozit now?," just seems funny to me.

"Ever hear your boy without a teleprompter? You have to be bilingual to follow him through the ibah's and the uhm and the ghetto speak. But hey, I am sure he is the first occupant of the big crib to ever give a shout out during a major speech."

Like any politician, when it comes to unprepared appearances, he does well when he's facile with the material and not so well when he is not. Have you ever tried public speaking? It's my job, and I am not consistent. The ums I hear, but ghetto speak? What an odd assessment of public speaking skill.

"How long did it take him to go to Ft. Hood anyway? Do you realise Bush was in New Orleans faster? Do you realise Bush was at Ft. Hood sooner (and with no photo op)? You can't learn class like that in duh hood!"

You do realize that Obama going there would have been a bad idea right away, right? Security details, accusations of publicity-seeking, etc. His class is much higher than you seem to think. He had the class not to fuck with the grieving process. But then, unless you (or I) are a member of that community or family of the murdered, we don't have a right to say fuck-all.

Gump has a think tank, imagine that....

No offense, but your head should have already been down on your desk.

Woke would make a fine voice of dissention as part of Bush's think tank. He's at about the same level of intelligence. I'm doubtful that the Bush think tank will be asking for varied opinions however.

What's obviously screwed up with these three phrases in one sentence: GWB, think-tank, "I came home to Texas with my values intact"

Maybe Bush should simply find a cause that will lead to a Nobel, Oscar and millions of dollars. Hell, if the dumb ass Gore can do it....

just seems funny to me.

Sorry Larry, but you are still not qualified to work there. But thanks for caring.

don't misunderestimate him.

The first issue they will 'think' about is just how long should a President sit there and do nothing after being told "The Nation Is Under Attack".

W got the idea from the internets. This will earn him enough money so he can still put food on his family. It would be worth forming the think tank
if he would just tell us what he was thinking while
reading, "My Pet Goat" and what thought crossed his mind when those shoes wizzed by his noggin.

Would you rather have "Obama" and "Think"

What a disaster that is!!!

Our economy is fucked up because of all that thinking!

"Ever hear your boy (Obama) without a teleprompter....?"

Indeed. Many times. Never heard him lapse into "ghetto speak"; think people who report that lie, frankly.

Foreign reporters following Obama around during the campaign were mystified at Republican allegations he couldn't speak well without a prompter. They thought he leaned towards the elloquent in off-the-cuff presentations. Which is my observation.

Bush will be great for this. Remember, fool him once but he cant't be fooled again.

"His class (Obama's) was not to fuck with the greiving process (Ft. Hood)...."

Many times I heard George Bush state he couldn't do this or that because he would be in the way or cause distractions. This included military funerals. It even included his daughter's own graduation ceremonies.

This was swallowed without chewing by Republicans for eight years. Now they have a problem with it.

Hypocrites and, yes, liars.

Yet he was a two term president and you are an anonymously posting on a liberal hate site.

It's quite obvious if you read the article carefully. Someone said think tank and bush thought tanks. More than likely he thinks he will be a tank commander (he probably sees himself as a conservative Odd Job from Kelly's Hero's), or possibly ceo of a tank manufacturer.
Maybe that is the reason for the 2 wars, so bush could sell tanks?

Flagged for abusive language

Midnight Cowboy, I remember that movie. What did he do for a living? I forget?

AKA Barney & friends.

Nah, he can use the newly raided ACORN headquarters building.

"And I'm not claiming intellectual superiority over anyone, like most of the egotistical libs on this site."

No? Your comments on this exact topic are not dissing the egotistical libs in any way? Hm.

FWIW, I think this is exactly the place to vent and assert whatever superiority over whatever public figures you want to assert said superiority over.

Granted, I'd rather have honest, civil, intellectual debate on the issues, but venting can be beneficial. I suppose.

So seriously, what does it matter to the veracity of one's argument that one is posting anonymously on this site rather than any other? Or rather than speaking to friends at a party? Or? I sort of wonder, when people say things like what you said, why they come to such a site where people post such things.

And whether said people (who post things similar to what you just posted) point out the failings of conservatives who post similar comments, but about, say, Obama, on conservative-leaning sites. If you do that, too, then I'll shut up. If you don't, then you're just picking on people you don't agree with. And what does that say about you?

(Remember, I just gave Mr. Bush credit for possibly being not as awful as he seems. : ) )

Venting is fine, but portraying W as a dummy and Kerry as a intellectual is a lie. Their test scores and GPA's at the same school say otherwise.

Seriously nobody thought the bush thought tanks bit was funny?

Oh and Prag your assessment of bush is pretty much my view, not quite so nice but pretty much the same. Why continue to bother hating the guy, move on for fuck sake.

Bush as a guy to hang out with is probably pretty decent and I would say the same about Obama...I just don't think either one of them is even remotely qualified to run/have run this Country.

I can think of 7,000 reasons why.

Larry

Where does hating bush get us moving forward though, that was my point. I mean even if some lib gets to "rip all of his fingers off with plyers" or whatever, how does that help the country? Hate all you want, but remember young padawan, hate is the dark side of the force.

Bush isn't hated. He's mocked and derided.

"even if some lib gets to "rip all of his fingers off with plyers" or whatever, how does that help the country?"

Education is important. If we learn nothing else, other than not to go down that path again, it's worth it.

What does Rush Limbaugh have to do with this?

First of all, let's not confuse GWB's think tank with the GWB library.

A think tank (like Project For a New American Century), for example, is a resting place for out of work politicians to plot and scheme against an administration that just beat them to a bloody stump.

I doubt that a GWB think tank will ever reach the status of PNAC but it will at least provide a paycheck for the GOP losers who have not found another means of making a living.

Rumsfeld has his own think tank at Stanford, BTW.

It will be interesting to see who joins this group. JEB, for sure, but I don't think we'll see the likes of Dick Cheney or Bill Kristol camping out on their doorstep. These are two people who happen to think GWB is the dumbest person on the face of the planet.

Funding is crucial to a think tank. I want to see who wants to waste their money on this one.

Like everything else GWB touches, I predict a very quiet FAIL.

Skull and Bones for one.

I'll assume you mean the only _living_ ex-president. : )

And I believe you hate Carter, but really? You think he has neither integrity nor class? I think he's one of the truest men ever to have held public office. (Not commenting on his presidency, mind.)

How about this George Bush the Elder? I, for one, think he's got buckets more class than his son.

its a very shallow tank....tee hee...get it? cause he's stupid....oh man I'm hilarious

Integrity= the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, moral uprightness.

"We don't torture"
"I honor his service"
"I completed my service"
"When we talk about war, we are really talking about peace"

That is just a few of many, many lies lilaWol told....not even counting the ones that placed our troops in harm's way in a country that did not attack us.

These were lies and he knew it.

While ghwb41 might have more class than his son, (think who the mother is and her lack of class), that ain't sayin' much, maybe a little pail, eh? (read my lips, no new taxes)

Carter is the most decent man to hold the office since IKE.

"While ghwb41 might have more class than his son, (think who the mother is and her lack of class), that ain't sayin' much, maybe a little pail, eh? (read my lips, no new taxes)"

Realistically, I can't hold that one against him, given my stance on campaign promises: that they aren't promises so much as declarations of intent. (If the stars align, here is what I'll do.)

"Carter is the most decent man to hold the office since IKE."

That I can agree with. Again, not saying whether he was a great president or effective, but Carter strikes me as a man of great integrity. (Maybe there's something I don't know that would change my mind? The alleged quotes from decades before he was president do not change my mind. I read those here, and I found that interesting, but didn't see that they proved that there couldn't have been an evolution of thought.)

ghwb41, former Ambassador to Vietnam, former CIA director, former VP to reagan during iran/contra, helped create most of the bad actors who turned on the usa eventually....from Noriega to Saddam to OBL, money was funneled thru the agency, the latter 2 thru a Pakistan bank, BCCI. I'm guessing he was connected to Air America in nam too.

Then, there is the little thingy of not only being in business with the saudis for years, including OBL's father/brothers, but actually meeting with them on 91101. An incredible coincidence, eh?

So much for integrity.

And the class thingy reminds me of when he got sloshed on SAKI in Japan and puked at a public event.

"Sorry, not gon' do it, wouldn''t be prudent at this juncture"
Dana Carvey as ghwb41

Hope you are having a nice weekend. We are smelling the roses here in Buckeyeland.

LOL

I'm having fine weekend, though being alone with the lads is always stressful. They're sleeping now. : )

I hear you on the larger issues and influences of GWHB. I just feel that he gets a raw deal in some respects. But I waffle : ) on this one. Admittedly. Did he really get sloshed on sake, or did something not agree with him? I thought it was the latter. (I tend to give the benefit of the doubt.)

(Btw, it's sake. Getting sloshed on Saki would be hard--I mean, the stories were funny, but not enough to make one drunk. : ) Oof--literary/spelling joke. I hope someone enjoys it.)

Our economy is fucked up because of all that thinking!
