Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Yesterday I heard on the local news that Michigan lottery officials were concerned about people playing the number 1111 in the state's Daily 4 lottery game. Apparently, if that number won, they would have had to pay out $40 million.

Call me naive, but I wasn't aware that the lottery comission keeps track of what numbers people buy or don't buy. I think this is disturbing. When people go to a casino they are kicked out if they are found to be counting cards. Yet the sate can keep statistics on how many people buy which numbers?

.......from a WC Fields movie.......

.....a man approaches a group of card players, interested in joining, he says:

"I say gentlemen, is this a game of chance ?"

"Not the way I play it" answers WC.

.....The only people gambling are the ones buying tickets, as for the lottery corporation, it's not gambling, it's just a tax on stupidity that they are collecting.......

I would bet there are many people who play 1111, 2222, 3333, etc. on a daily basis. IMO 1111 would be the most popular and is still the same odds as any other random four numbers. Much ado about nothing.
