The U.S. Supreme Court denied John Allen Muhammad's last-ditch effort to save his life. Now, one of the "Beltway snipers" whose sharpshooting spree killed 10 people in the Washington, D.C., area is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Tuesday.

I don't believe in capital punishment, but I pray he has a change of heart before they kill him.

I do believe in capital punishment, and I hope they shoot this bastard in the nuts and let him bleed out real real slow...

Nice visual.

I just don't understand how anyone that calls themselves a Christian could support killing another person.

It's easy the Bible is full of wars, God never intendend for Christians to be a bunch of pacifists,
It is very important, however, to remember the distinction between church and state. The Christian fights in a war not as an ambassador of the church or on behalf of the church, but as an ambassador of his country. The church is not to use violence (John 18:36), but the government at times may (John 18:36; Romans 13:3-4; etc.). So the Christian fights not as an agent of the church, but as an agent of the government of his country. Both are ultimately under the authority of God, but each has a distinct role...

If you ever bothered reading what they believe rather then just deciding what you want to believe about them, you just might.

Indeedy so.

However Jesus taught love and foregiveness, I just find it absurd anyone who beleives they are "good" Christians while cheering and gloating the death of another human being.

you just might.

Perhaps you could reiterate the Church's stance on capital punishment.

The churches or the bibles?

Are you really going to tell me that you have no idea how many times the bible prescribes death? Have you never opened a bible up? Do you think the guy taken to the city gates and stoned were just "partaking"?

If you would like i could cite chapter and verse of the offenses that death is the prescribed punishment. Keep in mind that Jesus showed mercy but that in and of itself does not abolish the rules sent before.

I am sure the Bible prescribes death quite often for even what now seems to be trivial offenses. But I did not ask that.

I asked how do you reconcile being a good "Christian" with putting someone to death.

Christ taught compassion and foregiveness.

Keep in mind that Jesus showed mercy but that in and of itself does not abolish the rules sent before.

So by your arguement, God set the rules before Jesus was born.

Jesus is the son of God, and God himself.

So God cannot change God's rules?

"Christ taught compassion and foregiveness"

So then by your logic if a judge gave a lenient sentence the law is changed for everyone?

No where in the bible does it say that punishment is obsolete. The idea is that there is an ability to show mercy when mercy is needed. It is amusing to me to hear someone try to use the bible to make a point when it is abundantly clear that they have absolutely no idea what it actually says.

Looks like the Sniper is going to get off easy here.

By the end of today, he will have finished paying for his crime.

I would have liked to see him pay for another 50 or 60 years, but hey, you want to let him off easy, I guess you can be happy about Government sponsored killings.

I don't want my taxes paying for this.

Who do I go crying and kicking and screaming too?

So then by your logic if a judge gave a lenient sentence the law is changed for everyone?

So you are saying that judges are god?

"Christians who kill... ahh we're about out of ideas on this planet aren't we? That's why I love guys like George Bush, or this guy Pat Robertson, this televangelist from the states, these are christians for stronger nuclear armament.

Oh what a great deal of faith.

'Cos I know if Jesus were here, he'd probably have an uzi on him. Don't you think he would?

"The prince of peace is back... but he's pissed off!" *gun shots* [...] "I'm back, I didn't tell you what kinda mood I'd be coming back in DID I FUCKERS!? "

WWBD?
