House Democrats were right to sacrifice abortion rights to get health care passed, opines commentator Peter Beinart, who contends that what he sees as a strategic tradeoff can save the bill - and the party's future. "The House's passage of health-care reform is the clearest sign yet that the Democratic Party is, once again, for better and for worse, a big tent."

"Once upon a time, the Democratic Party was a big tent -- a big, ugly, tent. In Congress, liberals coexisted with all manner of racists, nativists, misogynists and morons."

Downsize from bigtop to pup tent, substitute "conservatives" for "liberals" and you've got a thumbnail sketch of today's GOP.

Pardon moi on the double.

But hey, something like that needs to be stated twice anyway.......

...the Democratic Party is, once again, for better and for worse, a big tent.

Yup. A thin skin with flimsy support, filled with empty space, existing in the wilderness. Definitely a tent.

He hasn't gotten the latest memo: the abortion absolutists will have their way, courtesy of the Obama White House. The moderate Dems were played for fools, as they deserved to.

The campaign ads will write themselves. Hope and Change! Gobama!

I'll hate myself in the morning, but I'd accept Stupak to get health reforms passed. On a temporary basis. I don't think that the abortion amendment would hold up in court. Even a Clarence Thomas court. herm

By 'big tent' you mean that they have every left wing kook group in existence. And there are lots of them.

Big tent for everyone? Not for VP canidate for the Dem party one year, not a waco nut the next, so he is not welcome. Unless of course we need him for the majority, or to get 60...

Yeah, right. Had nothing to do with his endorsement and speech at the R convention, right Freechoice? What a maroon.

House Democrats were right to sacrifice Social Security for abortion rights; it is a strategic tradeoff can bankrupt the country and the Social Security system- and the Democratic party's future.

There's nothing like 50 million people sacrificed on the altar of choice that can't pay into the system to sink it for good.

The free market, future of the Republican party, nay freedom thanks you.

"Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the Democrats' chief deputy whip in the House, said that she and other pro-abortion rights lawmakers would work to strip the amendment included in the House health bill that bars federal funding from subsidizing abortions."I am confident that when it comes back from the conference committee that that language won't be there," Wasserman Schultz said during an appearance on MSNBC. "And I think we're all going to be working very hard, particularly the pro-choice members, to make sure that's the case."

So much for INTEGRITY!
I doubt this will happen, but if it does there'll be hell to pay.

Do any of you aborters out there think this is acceptable?

Sounds like raping a passed-out drunk chick who was foolish enough to go along for awhile.

Damn it, man!!!! You stole my friggin' joke!!!

Anyway, this is all crap, everyone knows that abortion will be covered & the illegals will be included in the system. The libs. have already said those amendments will be stripped before it is finalized.

Let's just hope the senate manages to kill the whole thing!!!

The senate will exempt abortion to get their 60 votes. When it comes back from conference with the abortion thing pulled out, they only need 51.

who doubts that these scumbags will do anything to get this middle class enslavery bill passed.

JIM DEMINT just came out with the possible answer

TERM LIMITS

3 terms for house
2 for senate

its time!
