This makes for one of the best arguments for his (current) stance. His constituents have theirs, why would the Senator from Conn. want his wealthier citizens to pay for the public option of other states, when his state's poor are already taken care of?

He ended up as an independent because he got his ass handed to him (or so I understand from a CT pal) in the primary. But in the general election, his name recognition and the makeup of the entire state, the entire voting electorate rather than just the Dems whut voted in the primary, allowed him to win. (To be fair, his record may have played a role.) In some ways, observers has noted, it'd be more honest of him to be a Republican. Other observers have noted that on many issues, he really does live in the world of Democrats.

Just like blacks in California who voted against Same Sex Marriage. They have their equal rights so why should some other minority have theirs. It's sad it really is about Joe Lieberman.

Apples to apples little mind. Blacks were barred from marrying whites in many States until the sixties. There was even a Justice of the Peace in Louisiana that refused to marry a black and white couple just last month.
