Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

As an evangelical Christian living in Texas, climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe found that many conservatives had questions about climate change based on things they'd heard on talk radio. So Hayhoe and her husband, Andrew Farley, the pastor of a nondenominational church in Lubbock, Texas, decided to answer the questions in a new book, A Climate for Change: Global Warming Facts for Faith-based Decisions. When it comes to conservative Christians, I think the real question is who can we trust on this issue?" Farley said.

We do know that Al Gore exists.

The worthless weatherman can't get the day to day weather right, yet they think their weather models into the future are accurate. But, to say the end of the world is coming if the temperature rises 2 degrees celsius is just a farce, a hoax, a joke, everything the liberals get involved in, try to change, turn out to be money eaters, they have no accountability. I would be willing to bet, that if this worthless piece of shit in the White House signs away America's sovreignty through a global warming initiative, there will be more than tea partiers and picket sign carriers invading Washington.
And with this obama/pelosi care farce, I have to believe that that bitch pelosi wants to start a civil war. She's a fool, an insane fool.

Tark,

You really ought to go back to giving young inner city thugs bags of alumni cash to play basketball and chewing on towels from the sidelines. Blogging is not your thing. Your posts are just lame.

Their goal, he said, was to reach the average person with facts, "with no spin to it, no politics to it, no economic policy recommendations to it, stripped of all those and stripped of the common misconceptions as well, getting down to the core issue: Is it happening, are we causing it and how can we be sure?"

I think the problem here is that the facts are what bother conservatives so much. If your world view doesn't support it, you cover your ears and eyes or spread lies and smear the messenger. Ask Galileo.

Humans controlling the climate either way is like saying we have a switch that can turn the sun on and off whenever we want. Um, oh I forgot humans are more powerful than the sun right?

Duh

How can you convince the ignorant of anything?

Art Bell told them so. It must be true.

These guys are obviously pubbie plants. Nobody could be that cheesy looking and appeal to the liberal crowd in America. It's a laugh-a-thon. Ha,Ha!

They are Christians attempting to appeal to the very divided Evangelical community. For SHAME!

They probably claim that drilling, processing and burning "fossil" fuels is not helping plants breathe! Don't trust the science until it's well past midnight..

Libs think a ponzi scheme like "cap 'n' trade" is going to save the world of global warming emissions. You know, weak standards for cars, billions of tons of pollution allowances, all within a bull shit market scheme to move some wealth around.

No one's really serious about tackling environmental problems.

These debates are bull shit.

she was a lead author of a U.S. government report on climate change in the United States that was released in June. She also was one of some 2,000 scientists on the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which reported in 2007 that there was unequivocal evidence of warming.

what do other IPCC and/or Nobel prize-winners have to say?

"The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift Global Consciousness to a higher level."
- Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech

"We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination... So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts...
Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."
- Prof. Stephen Schneider,Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports

"Unless we announce disasters no one will listen."
- Sir John Houghton, first chairman of IPCC

where as all your posts have going for them is quantity and raving lunacy.

Congrats!

From the reviewed quotes.

"As Christians committed to the truth in both science and faith, Katharine Hayhoe and Andrew Farley present a compelling case for why addressing climate change is a part of what it means to be a Christian today."

(Larry J. Schweiger, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation and author of Last Chance 2008)

This article reminds Spud of sommat he saw on PBS last year.

An evangelical preacher who wanted to preach a pro-enviromental message was told in no uncertain terms to back off by church leadership who felt that an emphasis on equating ecology with morality would detract from the social wedge issues of abortion and denying gay folks equal rights.

Total facepalm moment really.

Now it appears their are some Christians who see no incongruity between their faith-derived morality and good enviromental science.

Hey, there might be hope fer the human race yet!

That's nice to see.

Be Well.

Those whacky religionists are at it again.

Here is what is so funny about them to me. They have almost lost all relevance in the world today, but yet they continue to try to force their pre-fabricated, situational message on every single issue.

Yea, verily I say to you, thusly, did jesus (who is played by chuck norris) kick the sodomites asses when they built a fire in the bathhouse.

As you can see from this passage, jesus hates donkeys, gays and global warming.

The worthless weatherman can't get the day to day weather right, yet they think their weather models into the future are accurate.

Climatology is not the same thing as Meterology.

Art Bell told them so. It must be true.

Art Bell has people on his radio show that blame human actions for the rise in global temperatures. Most of the people you're refering to wouldn't be listening to him.

No one's really serious about tackling environmental problems.

That's pretty much my issue.

There's two organizations that I've sent money to in the past years.

The Sierra club because they've demonstrated they give a shit about conservation.

And The Coal River Mountain group. The Coal River Mountain people are willing to put they're money where their mouth is.

Al Gore...what's his light bill this year? Where is the company that's building the Super Grid? Why wait on the government to legislate some morlity when he and a couple dozen other investors who share his same passion could fund builing many of these projects themselves.

Start here, Al.

........it must be possible.........

......Rush & Fox have made careers of it......

Sounds like the world's most boring book.

Why couldn't Rcade's summary include the point that these Evangelicals have connected human activity to global warming? Imagine that? Evangelicals that have made peace with science. It took centuries for the Catholic Church to do the same.

"The book is a look at the scientific consensus that heat-trapping gases, mostly from the use of fossil fuels, are causing an increase in the Earth's average temperature. It explains how scientists reach their conclusions and why they rule out other possible explanations, such as the sun, volcanoes and natural cycles".

The best way to address this monumental problem is to reduce the human population and increase wild forest regions. In this way we can enjoy all the fruits of our amazing technologies without deadly consequences.

Europe and Hawaii used to be mostly forest. Brazil is being deforested at an atonishing rate. The Mediterranean, North Sea and California Coast used to be a fishing haven. The planet is rapidly going to hell in a handbasket. Those of us in the USA have environmental problems, yet we are in a better position to keep and grow a sustainable economy in a beautiful environment than most other countries.

Growth is an essential part of ponzi Capitalism, delivering mind boggling wealth to a few hundred people. We should forget about sacrificing the quality of our lives to make room for more people, which is what the Oligarchy eeks, and institute policies which reward childlessness. Then over 50-100 years our wages would rise while pollution shrinks. This is happening in parts of Europe already, but being made up through immigration. The humane way to achieve this result is to provide all women a top notch education, which consistently reduces birthrates within a free society.

Yet your Fat, White ass took time out of what I'm sure is a busy Friday night to make a comment.

See, I know blogging isn't my "thing".

I have a life.

Wow. Nutcase is out there.

How can you convince the ignorant of anything?

Well, algore has convinced many so I guess it works.

I told you this would be fun. Thanks for reinforcing the notion that most reich-wingers wouldn't know science if it hit them over the head. Repeatedly.
