Only then did he address the fact that 12 soldiers had been gunned down on a typical day in Central Texas.

You could tell he really didn't want to talk about it.

And one more reason to stand with and support the people who---to their dire misfortune---have to call him their "Commander in Chief".

Maybe you all can trump this into a new 9-11 for fundraising purposes for the midterms!

He had a scheduled event and he carried it out, with some time added to address the Fort Hood shootings. If the networks and White House staff had scheduled it properly, so they cut in for the president's remarks, no one would be making an issue of this.

President Obama had plenty of notice that the events were occuring and that the networks would be airing his remarks. His choice to indulge in polical glad handing prior to announcing what was happening was a poor choice. That being said, I don't think that it was that big a deal. President Obama is primarily a politician just like almost all of those folks in Washington.
