Forty-nine percent (49%) of U.S. voters now say it is at least somewhat likely that Republicans will win control of Congress next year. But only 18% say it is very likely.

Ehh...I'll believe it when I see it.

Poll: 49% See GOP Takeover of Congress Next Year As Possible

Wow. That's the kind of confidence you can stake your life on.

Especially since it's a Rasmussen poll.

Rasmussen always nails it.

I think he was the only polster to exactly predict the outcome of the NY election on Tuesday.

In related news, 49% are seriously math-and-reality challenged.

"I think he was the only polster to exactly predict the outcome of the NY election on Tuesday."

You do realize, don't you, this has a lot to do with sentiment, and nothing to do with who's running, who's at risk, the demographics of those particular districts and...how should I put it...reality?

I would agree with that.

It is not uncommon for the 1st House elections after the Presidential election to result in a shift.

The question will be: will this be the time that goes against tradition and, if so, are we talking the normal dozen seats or a lot more?

IMO, those in control of the House and Senate and the WH are arguing internally over passing issues with a majority control.

Heck, Bush got all he wanted when the repub's didn't even control the House.

That makes no sense.

I would say it's possible, but not likely. Although, it's PROBABLE that the republicans will gain seats in the Senate AND the House.

Do you know what you've done by mentioning Rasmussen, Mysterytoy? Just wait until Corky, ManyPaths and SanAntonioRogue see your post. Danforth probably ain't likin' it much either.

I would be dumb founded if they took control. I just don't see the forces heading in their direction, especially if a bunch of right wingers are looking to unseat incumbants in the primary. Otherwise I would expect them to gain a few seats.
