As House Democrats prepare to vote Saturday on a sweeping bill to overhaul the nation's healthcare system, they have picked up an important endorsement today from the 40-million-member AARP, the nation's largest senior citizens group.

But it's turrible fer 'Merica!

And AARP loses members in wholesale fashion.

Good strategy to go against your entire reason for being in business.

LOL.

Another Dukakis helmet moment.

All a bunch of whores.

Funny things....

Liberals want to end life before it begins and if you make it through the birth canal they want to end life well before it's time.

So to live in a liberal world is tough tough tough.

They try to get you on both ends.

The American Seniors Association (ASA) invites any American Association of Retired Persons member to mail us your torn AARP card and receive a 2 year- for- 1 year membership with ASA. Our organization representing hundreds of thousands of members believes we need health care reform, but we want what is best for seniors. ASA wants to cut wasteful spending in Medicare.

"ASA wants to cut wasteful spending in Medicare, but we forget what that means. It's 4:30pm, is dinner ready?"

"Beats the hell out of a Bushie flight-suit "Mission Accomplished"."

"The hell"

has now been defined as less than an Angstrom.

Damn I'm sorry I didn't vote for Paris.

Gloating would be so much fun.

AARP wants to increase sales of their Medicare Supplemental Insurance.

Liberals want to end life before it begins and if you make it through the birth canal they want to end life well before it's time.

Nobody "wants" abortion although it is good to note that you've acknowleged that life doesn't begin until after yer born.

/Small blessings, all that.

As to the other part, how the fuck is extending healthcare benefits to those who don't have it and ensuring benefits to those who do gonna shorten life?

Actually it will do the opposite of wot yer trying to assert.

You sir, are either the biggest moron this site has ever seen or a disingenuous, fatuous, obvious, odious, malodorous, lying sack of shit.

Smart money's on you being a moron, btw.

Be Well.

"end life before it begins"

Yeah, rationing and government deciding who and what to treat in later life while giving you options on the end is all about adding to those golden years.

Douche two. In 3-D.

While, so called "prolifers" only care about life BEFORE birth and AFTER brain death, and don't want to help care, (food, clothe, shelter, healthcare, education) for those children born into abject poverty or with special needs, or the old/infirmed.

Yeah, that's really prolife.

wow, giving all americans a chance to get heath insurance.....priceless

"And AARP loses members in wholesale fashion."

Any member of AARP who didn't desert that organization when Medicare Part D was passed with the prohibition against price negotiations with drug companies is hardly in a postion to criticize now.

-Yeah, rationing and government deciding

Prefers current rationing and greedy insurance execs who get bonuses based on how many people they can not pay out to deciding.

This support by the these two major organizations should help some BDs get over their fear of doing the right thing.

No it won't, shilly boy. They're afraid of this weeks election trends, showing independent voters running from Obama and his policies faster that you do from logic. The 10.2% unemployment figure released today (how 'bout that stimulus?) just sealed this crappy bill's fate.

17

election trends?

nationally?

are you ignoring dems winning a congressional seat held by republicans for a century?

uh, yes you are, eh?

and try to understand that the stimulus is designed to and has helped ameliorate the unemployment caused by 8 years of republican policies.....

no?

are you saying the stimulus bill created unemployment?

btw, what is/was the republican plan/bill to fix the unemployment problems?

(crickets chirping)

I guess we can add SENIORS and aarp to the long list of enemies of the right wing neoconservatives.

Along with well over half of Americans who don't vote repug or don't vote at all.

And any Americans who value the rule of law, US constitution or geneva conventions.

And all the republicans who have stood up and denounced the very political party/ideology they were part of....(paul o'neill, a shitload of retired generals, etc)

The 911 vicitm's families.

Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman's families.

Any returning vets who no longer subscribe to the inane neocon policy failures

Working Americans now unemployed due to failed rw economic policies (nafta, outsourcing, off shore tax offices, bankruptcy and welfare reform for individuals but not corporations) etc, etc....

Our own potus, but only if a dem (carter, clinton, obama)

And the list grows more every day.

And the people claiming to be republicans continue to dwindle.

GOP=party and political ideology over country

Working Americans now unemployed due to failed rw economic policies (nafta, outsourcing, off shore tax offices, bankruptcy and welfare reform for individuals but not corporations) etc, etc....

I believe you're retarded. No jokes, I seriously think you're a retard.

Clinton=NAFTA
Clinton=Welfare Reform

How do you blame off shore tax offices on the right? What has any Dem President EVER done to shut them down?

What has any Dem done to change bankruptcy and welfare reform for Corporations?

In other words, STFU, stupid.

Outsourcing became vogue under Clinton. And Sen. Clinton was one of the biggest proponents of expanding the H1 programs....

liar, choke on this...

"Yesterday [Saturday], [Clinton] said NAFTA was 'negotiated' by the first President Bush, not by her husband," Obama said today. "But let's be clear: It was her husband who got NAFTA passed. In her own book, Sen. Clinton called NAFTA one of Bill's successes."

How We Ended Welfare, Together

By BILL CLINTON
Published: August 22, 2006
TEN years ago today I signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act. By then I had long been committed to welfare reform. As a governor, I oversaw a workfare experiment in Arkansas in 1980 and represented the National Governors Association in working with Congress and the Reagan administration to draft the welfare reform bill enacted in 1988.

Talk about a bunch or whores!! They get big bucks from the supplemental insurance they endorse. The less medicare covers, the more important supplemental insurance is.

Clinton=NAFTA
Clinton=Welfare Reform

That's right, Clinton was a DINO who signed every piece of Contract ON Americans legislation proposed.

And was still impeached by them for lying about a bj that was nobody's business.

Thanks for helping to make my point.

You are a fucking retard that is incapable of realizing you're wrong (and a liar).

Did you think bringing up a BJ out of the clear blue would hide the fact I just slapped the tatse out of your mouth?

Really? Maybe you should do a little research.

nation's best interest over the long term without respect to partisanship. "

Sorry for the double-click.

Don't be sorry for the double click, be sorry for being a fucking retard, like woke.

Read Clinton's own words, stupid.

Or are you stupidly calling Clinton a right winger as well?

In other words, clarify your stupidity.

You are SO FULL OF IT you reek. It is really a waste of time trying to engage you in ANYTHING approaching a dialog.

In your screwed up fantasy world you are predicting the end of AARP! This is obviously because they oppose your political positions.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! LET ME KNOW HOW THAT WORKS OUT FOR YOU!!

Muh ha ha ha ha ha hah. I laugh in your general direction and ridicule you immensely.

AARP is about THE MOST teflon proofed organization out there! Better stick to the battle to end abortions - you will get to that sooner than you will cause the end of AARP ha ha ha ha ha ha hah!!!

Anyone care to breakdown which idiots in here think they know more about healthcare than the AARP?

I know I could read through the posts and spot them, but if you could just give me a quick summary of the most audacious arm-chair bloggers on this subject, that would be great.

Thanks.

Universal health care lowers abortion rates. The lowest abortion rates in the world are in Western Europe where health care is available to all, according to Guttmacher Policy Review, an organization frequently quoted by both sides of the abortion debate. In the U.S., women aged 15-44 have abortions at the rate of 21 per 1,000 while in Europe that rate is 10 per 1,000.

This explains the AARP's endorsement better than anything else:

"AARP's Nancy LeaMond dismiss a half-trillion in Medicare cuts as mere "scalpel" wielding. LeaMond, AARP Exec. VP, made her blithe statement while defending her organization's endorsement of ObamaCare"

"She began her career as the Chief of Staff to U.S. Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar. On March 18, 1993 she was nominated by President Clinton to serve as Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) for Congressional Affairs. She served as Chief of Staff to [Clinton admin] U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky."

The "D's" tend to stick together regardless of what the people want or need, right ManyPaths? "OnePath" would be a better name.

Cutting Medicare by close to a trillion dollars is NOT in the interest of retired people!

You have stated the obvious verry well.

What the government gives, the government can take. They have robbed your SS and Medicare funds to pay for their own re-elections. Watch out, your 401K is up for grabs.

I would be more worried about the wall street fatcats stealing my 401k than big government.

"AARP stabs senior citizens in the back, endorses $400 billion of cuts in Medicare, so it can make more money selling insurance!"

"AARP is not a membership organization in any sense. It's a self-appointed service entity -- sort of like AAA -- that peddles products with coupons and discounts for its "members." The "members" did not vote on AARP's endorsement of massive cuts in Medicare"

"In fact, you can spend all day navigating AARP's elaborate website and you won't even find a mechanism to send the group an email to protest! (On the other hand, you can easily sign up for "action" to back the group's stand on health care.)"

AARP, run by Democrats for Democrats.

-endorses $400 billion of cuts in Medicare

That's cutting $400 billion in giveaways to the insurance industry courtesy of the Bush admin, thank you ever so much.

AARP wants to increase sales of their Medicare Supplemental Insurance.

BINGO BABY

reports are that aarp made ONE BILLION last year off of supplemental insurance.

if I had not done so already, me card would be ripped instead of me....

SO where are all you anticapitalist, anti corporation classwarfare mongers on this one

a corportation rips off and DEALS Away thier own customers they are supposed to be advocates for and selling them out in the name of the dollar.

DANNI>..geeesh...I thought you would be convulsing over this one...LOL

There are plenty of Dems who are upset at AARP.

But the organization is like teflon - no one can make any mud stick to them.

Your concerns are well noted and I find much agreement there. Do not trust AARP and will not join.

Lost faith in them over the Prescription drug plan. They approved the deal even thought it did not help seniors. It DID help AARP make more money.

"That's cutting $400 billion in giveaways to the insurance industry courtesy of the Bush admin"

We can assume that you are talking about Part C, a plan that provides more benefits to recipients and charges them little to no premium. You say - "that's because the government pays them 15% more than regular medicare"... Yes, you are correct little one, but Medicare Advantage pays doctors the insurance company rates (which average medicare +20% and growing - see failure to pass $250 billion doctor fix).

Doctors getting paid a reasonable amount, better benefits, costs consumers less... no wonder people are flocking in droves to Med. Advantage.

Oh, wait, this is about choice! I almost forgot, lets take away that choice too. That way they can pay their medicare premiums plus an AARP premium! Sweet, no wonder the evil profit mongers over at AARP are drooling!

Soon, they will be at 15%, then 10% if they keep demonizing all Americans as the enemy....especially as the largest generation becomes seniors.

Ask your hero bush how good the aarp are at making politicians accountable, insuring senior's best interests are met.

AARP Leads With Wallet In Fight Over Social Security
Bush's Plan Faces Formidable Foe

By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 30, 2005;

AARP's 35 million membership base is 10 times the size of the National Rifle Association's, and its $800 million budget is five times that of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the country's biggest business association. In number of members, AARP is surpassed only by the Roman Catholic Church.

Some polls show that a majority of voters reject Bush's plan to make investment accounts part of the retirement program, a result that can be attributed in part to AARP's persuasiveness.

If I wasn't already opposed the national healthcare reform programme the AARP's endorsement alone of that guaranteed quagmire would be enough to merit my opposition to it

"DANNI>..geeesh...I thought you would be convulsing over this one...LOL"

I notice you suddenly find a reason to dislike the AARP, didn't notice any complaints out of you when they supported the give away to the drug companies by Delay and Frist with the Medicare Drug Bill, on and I ask you too to remember the way that was passed at 2 or 3 oclock in the morning with Delay blatantly twisting arms. I've telling y'all about the AARP for years, however this time they are on my side and the one thing I about them is that they are a powerful campaigner with the elderly. Right or wrong the elderly to listen to the AARP.

I have never been a fan of aarp. period.....

and this endorsement is as bogus as the AMA endorsement.

no matter what you read..the AMA endorsement is only from thier BOARD...not the general membership whioh AGAIN is not a majority of doctors around the country.

"not the general membership whioh AGAIN is not a majority of doctors around the country."

I should take your word for that????
Link please or I will understand it is just another b.s. talking point.

#51 | Posted by afkabl2: no matter what you read..the AMA endorsement is only from thier BOARD...not the general membership whioh AGAIN is not a majority of doctors around the country.

That's an unrealistic statement. An organization would not go against it's members. There would be no gain.

"Compromise is a necessity in the legislative process, but we, as physicians, will never compromise our principles or the public trust. That is why we are supporting H.R. 3962 and H.R. 3961 two bills that passed together will go a long way toward making health system reform a reality in 2009," Dr. Rohack said.

well if the media were doing its job I could point you to them to see but since they kiss the royal black ass rather than be journalists, its harder to do.

but JUST FOR YOU>..I will look for that info or someone else may have it
was published at the time of the DRS IN the rose garden..that FAKE meeting with only drs who CONTRIBUTED TO OBAMA were invited...we read then just how low per centage of all drs are actually in the ama...and even if all of them were...fact remains..there was no vote fo drs for this endorsement.......

AND HOPE>...
tell that to aarp members where they are being used so that aarp can surpass thier BILLION DOLLAR BOOTY from last year.

while looking for link on ama I came across this

another goddamn fuckin liar with a 'd' after his name

NY-23's Owens Backs Gov't Option, Breaks Campaign Promise
Congressman-elect Bill Owens was sworn in at noon today.

Owens indicated in a press release released shortly afterwards that he was now in favor of the the "Affordable Healthcare for America Act" bill in direct contrast to his earlier position during the election campaign.

According to Politico.com, Mr. Owens assured voters that he felt the public option had no place in the health care reform bill. Contrary to that position, Mr. Owens now indicates that he intends to vote in favor of the bill even though it now contains a public option.

PARTY OVER COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!

Republicans never lie.

Mm mm mm.

did I say that...lol

I can tell you one thing...when we take congress back or at least neutralize the radicalism.

the GOP better DAMN SURe do it right this time..
or else this country just might see that viable third party its been flirting with so many times.

Yeah, cause they sure didn't do it right for the last 40 years, from the crook nixon to the liars reagan/bush41 to the war profiteers lilaWol/hallichainy.......

If historical reference helps you, should the repug party survive the neocon implosion, it will be another 36-40 years. By then, white folks will no longer be in the majority (2042).....so perhaps you should think about purging the racists, fundies and extremists.

the liars reagan/bush41 ...

???

You've repeated over and over you don't denigrate war veterans. 41 was a war vet. You also said you would apologize if anyone put up a post of yours where you denigrated a war vet. I did. You didn't apologize at all.

What a liar you are.

STFU goofball, you fail to have the ability to understand the difference between someone saying war vets can do no wrong, vs. questioning their war service with lies/misinformation and smears for political purposes.

Since you refuse to acknowledge that it was Kerry and Cleland we are talking about, and both had their war record smeared by pukes that never served or never completed their service themselves for pure partisan politics, it makes little sense for me to engage you further on any subject.
