I rarely support capitol punishment, but there is something about "convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert" that just screams nothing is bad enough for this guy. I am human and emotion does block reason sometimes, but I think this is a rare time where the punishment is still not as bad as the crime. When a child is the victim, no punishment is bad enough IMHO.

Spud is pro-choice morally because a woman deserves autonomy of her own body and practically because making abortion illegal doesn't work any better than prohibition or the war on drugs.

Spud is anti-death penalty because the state demonstrably makes too many mistakes to allow them the right to kill anyone and Spud finds the killing of innocent folks morally unjustifiable.

The argument that abortion is also killing an innocent person holds no water with Spud. A foetus is a potential person with only the rights a woman chooses to give it.

I am against the death penalty for several reasons.

1. We don't really know what happens after death, so how can it be considered as much a punishment as being incarcerated for life? And i believe this kind of heinous crime deserves life in isolation.

2. It costs MORE for capital punishment (appeals, etc) than to incarcerate them for the rest of their lives.

3. Although usually a slim, some convicted and put to death have been found to be innocent.

4. How do you tell someone, don't kill, it's wrong or I'll kill you, with a straight face?

Actually, with our justice system, the child rapist who raped a kid and served his time, gets out of prison and goes on to more horrific crimes against kids. The first time he lets his victim live, after that he kills them and dumps their bodies in the same spirit someone takes out their garbage.
