The tiny state of Delaware beats Switzerland in a contest for the most secretive financial jurisdiction, a tax justice rights group said on Saturday. The United States, led by the eastern seaboard state, took in $2.6 trillion in deposits from non-resident corporations and individuals in 2007, according to the Tax Justice Network. A survey of laws, practices and size of inflows in 60 jurisdictions found Delaware coming in first, followed by Luxembourg and then Switzerland.

DELAWARE?!?!

I wonder what General Buffon, AKA Joe Biden, has to say about this.

Not a suprise if you have a credit card. They all seem to be from Delaware.

What is President Obama and the Democrat majority going to do about this?

Why call it "tax haven?" The more accurate word is "freedom," but the Keynsian/Marxists have yet to realize that.

I would give the award to the Ugland House.

time for the feds to rewrite a State's corporations code.

Health care is more dangerous than the terrorists, but tax havens are like baseball and apple pie. How odd.

Obama, with the will of the people, wants to put a stop to these tax havens. But Democrats, Republicans and the lobbyists all agree - removing tax havens is the same as raising taxes! Socialism!

An article from February:

And guess who's turned up in a new government report about tax havens?

Eleven giant recipients of your bailout tax dollars - American Express, AIG, Bank of America, Citigroup, General Motors, GMAC, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo. Together they've collected more than $227 billion.

Following Bailout Money To Tax Havens

They've stolen enough from the American people. Why aren't people upset? Why are people protesting health care reform?

Keynsian/Marxists have yet to realize that.

"trickle-down economics is conservative Keynesianism..just ask zombie Reagan"

Good point, Legio. Keynesianism, in the postwar world, took the form of stimulating the economy through tax cuts *or* government spending. The Reaganites call it supply-side, but they were nothing more than conservative Keynesians.

What did Della Wear?

Keynes was great. He was also queer.

Companies have been incorporating in Delaware for years as it has the most corporate-friendly laws in the U.S. In fact, half the companies on the NYSE are incorporated in Delaware.

This isn't new news.

Delaware is attractive because it does not tax profits realized outside the state and does not require companies to be physically present, according to the Tax Justice Network.

No shit.

Delaware has long been a haven to corporations that want a business friendly legal and tax climate to incorporate in. Any wonder why so many banks incorporate there?
