The King James version of the Bible runs more than 600 pages and is crammed with celestial regulations. Newton's Principia Mathematica distilled many of the rules of physics in a mere 974 pages.

Neither have anything on Nancy Pelosi's new fiendishly entertaining health-care opus, which tops 1,900 pages.

So curl up by a fire with a fifth of whiskey and just dive in.

But drink quickly. In the new world, your insurance choices will be tethered to decisions made by people with Orwellian titles ("1984" was only 268 pages!) like the "Health Choices Commissioner" or "Inspector General for the Health Choices Administration."

OMG, you got this off Real Clear Politics???? That is a wingnut, fascist site.

Real competition, as far as anyone can tell, is antithetical to the authors of this bill. Remember, you can purchase oranges from Florida and whiskey from Kentucky, yet you're prohibited from buying health insurance from anywhere outside your state . . . so sayeth Nancy Pelosi.

Instead of creating a new market with interstate trade, what we get is the institution of the pleasant-sounding "Health Insurance Exchange," which exists, it seems, only to accommodate a non-competitive, government-run insurance option.

Now, finding a name for a state-run program without offending the lingering capitalistic sensibilities of bourgeoisie has been problematic. So Pelosi went with the innocuous "consumer option" - known for a fleeting moment as the "competitive option" and popularly as the "public option." Whatever your preference is, it's the option that leads to a single-payer insurance program.

Democrats say we can save billions by funding a plan that uses billions of wasted tax dollars from another public plan that we already supplement with billions. Make sense?

In actuality, we pay for all this by "cost sharing," or "sharing the cost" of insuring everyone through higher prices and taxes. But no fear. The legislation taxes "the rich." The bill doesn't index the tax to inflation so more of you will be on the hook as inflation rises due to the tragically irresponsible behavior of Congress and the White House. The rich - many of them small-business owners - are already set to see their rates go up in 2010.

Hey, who needs those jerks to create real jobs when we have Washington pretending to do it?

What is scary is ones political acceptance can be punished by lack of healthcare.

There are far cheaper ways to do this as the Repubs have suggested. Allow insurance to be sold across state lines. Tort reform, etc.

But this isn't about health care, it is about control. Once they are supplying health care they can tell us what to eat, drink, how to live, etc. all in the name of the common good... To save money. You have a job that requires that you are out in the sun, you have to pay more for insurance because you have a greater risk of skin cancer. Overweight? Pay more. Eat bacon? Pay more, etc. In the end it is all about control.

The liberal elites think they know better than everyone else and out of their insecurity they want to force it on everyone.

It would be cheaper to do some of these other things and send the liberal elites to counseling.

Tort reform....LOL.

Stupid by any rational thought but then again what can anyone expect from a corporate whore.

Bill Gates is in a hurry, thank goodness for tort reform, so he runs you ever because it only cost a limited amount.

the repubs havent suggested shit.. now that the new reality is here, the rethugs have to chime in because health insurance just might be a problem. where were they before? the party of lies, hate and fear

The three Republican bills total almost 400 pages and have been on the table since May and June.

In May, Republicans in the House and the Senate formed a bicameral coalition to produce the130-page "Patients Choice Act of 2009."

In June, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced the "Health Care Freedom Plan," a 41-page proposal.

And in July, the Republican Study Committee, under the leadership of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), unveiled the "Empowering Patients First Act," a 130-page plan.

Some of the provisions included in one or more of the bills include: investing in preventive medicine, an overhaul of Medicaid, reduction of abuse and fraud in the Medicare program, supplemental health insurance for low-income families, tax credits for health insurance, and a ban on federal funds being used for abortions.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.)However, supporters of the Democratic plans have accused Republicans of trying to derail attempts at reforming health care without having a plan of their own.

Yet the Osheep keep on baaaaiinnnngg out their talking points.

Apparently "the Chappelle" would prefer some millionaire to control his/her healthcare. "Happy Extinction!"

Some useless trivia.

Normal Bible pages are just 1 thousandth of an inch thick while most copy paper is usually around 3 to 4 thousandths thick.

Bible .001
Copy paper .003" to .004"

Try and turn those pages fast when trying to keep up with your Pastor giving his sermon!!

They're hard to seperate when that thin!

Here's some trivia I actually find fascinating.

Leonardo da Vinci could write with one hand and draw with the other at the same time.

I have a hard enough time talking to someone when typing or writing.

I always write what I'm saying instead of what I should be writing!

I like the bibles that Catholics have. Their pages are thicker.

Same here Lisa. I am not a Multitaskerer.

#9 | Posted by LarryMohr - ever wonder why bible pages seem indestructible? Because they're made of 25% cotton - yeah, you can sew the pages together and make a covering. Just another bit of trivia - let's have a game of trivial pursuit thread one night - someone asks a question and another has less than one minute to answer!

It can be like Rex' firday night music thread only on saturday night! I must warn you - my husband and son use me as the go-to answer person when neither can answer the question - no, I do not get to play with them...you put the first one up - I'll be there!

Nanc - If Larry likes it, it must rock!

Down girl...get it going and stuff...

No help from me, cause I am......not cool and stuff.

Leonardo da Vinci could write with one hand and draw with the other at the same time.

I'm no Leonardo, but I think I can match the man on another set of rules...The hand is an amazing digit holder I must agree.

And I can't find anything sexual about that!

Ha ha, you're still scared!

Halloween is over dude. Go soak your pussy and stop being afraid all the time. You look so silly.

BOO!!!

When Johnny falls in a well, and Rex runs home to get help, if Johnny does not have health insurance because his dad lost his job, then he can be covered by the Public Option.
