They look more like penalties to me.
Notice the word IF.
Boy, you guys sure are easy to scare. Don't you ever get tired of being so fucking scared of everything? Go hide under your bed and leave the important issues to those who can deal with them without pissing their own pants.
Jesus Christ, what a bunch of pussies you all are.........

There are a lot of new taxes in this.
What concerns me are the loopholes that are inevitably available.
For instance.... (and if this is addressed in the bill then point it out...I haven't seen it yet)
If I have a business with a payroll over $500K then I could split up my business into multiple businesses to keep all my businesses under the $550K threshold.
just a thought.
Posted by eberly at 2009-10-30 01:56 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
sorry $500K threshold.
There appear to be penalties for an employer for not contributing enough to a health plan.
I thought there would be penalties for contributing too much. Is that still in there?

Are these guys morons? They're counting simply reporting payments as a tax hike. Same with limiting a tax giveaway to make the playing field more equal: folks with FSAs get to deduct the first dollar they spend on Health Care, others have to beat 7.5% of their AGI, AND itemize deductions.
WARNING: Authors With Agendas.

How much extra taxes you going to pay? Pretty simple question.
With a name like ATaxpayer, you ought to know exactly what this is going to cost you. Go back to the link. Go line by line and tell us just how much this will cost you since it pisses you off so fucking much.
If you want to create something to be angry at, that is your fucking problem. I'm just pointing that fact out. Your crying over nothing.

Here is the real cost and before you get your panties all twisted yes it most likely will cost me more money as I am considered rich under Obama. That being said the real cost is what this plan will do to the small buisness man...

What a dumbass.
Most, if not all taxes, contain the word "if." "If" you earn money, it will be taxed. That doesn't mean that the income tax isn't a tax just because you have the option of not earning the amounts in each bracket.

How much extra taxes you going to pay?
I can't see anything at this point yet
but I have an employer who pays 87% of my premium (more than 65%). my employer might to pay an excise tax if he didn't (and he would share that cost with me I'm sure)
I don't have any non-prescription medications being paid for out of my flex spending account but apparently that benefit is going away too.
I'll wait till I know more.

WASHINGTON The average U.S. family and their employers paid an extra $1,017 in health care premiums last year to compensate for the uninsured, according to a study to be released Thursday by an advocacy group for health care consumers. Families USA, which supports expanded health care coverage, found that about 37% of health care costs for people without insurance or a total of $42.7 billion went unpaid last year. That cost eventually was shifted to the insured through higher premiums, according to the group.
"I don't think anybody has any idea about how much they are paying because of the need to cover the health care costs of the uninsured,"
Why doesn't THAT piss you off? Would be nice to end that practice huh?

No Joe, their employers will.
Please try to read the attatched link.

Do you really not understand this?

Payroll expense is payroll expense. If you really believe that you can force up the costs of hiring someone, without also adversely affecting hiring and pay packages, you're out of your mind. If the law instead were to require every employer to give $500 a year to help out with fuel costs, do you really believe that employers would sit there, and not take out $500 from their pay elsewhere?
Carry on. Obama lies are multiplying, and so are the libbies' frustration in explaining them away.

"so are the libbies' frustration in explaining them away."
Just to see where you stand, RiR: do you agree with the author, that requiring reporting of a payment made is a "tax"?
Posted by Danforth at 2009-10-30 03:33 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
RiR,
How much is the Insurance Lobby paying you to shill for them. You obviously are not bothering to read any of the posts here and can only parrot the party line.
Just tell them you posted lots of their lies here today and we won't contradict you. Honest. You can rob them blind as far as we are concerned but please just stop posting your bullshit.
Posted by axe at 2009-10-30 03:36 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
So Joe, some of those penalties mentioned in the link apply to you? You claim to work for a law firm right? They don't have good coverage for you?
Which one applies to you and your wallet?
Posted by Manypaths at 2009-10-30 03:36 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
How much is the Insurance Lobby paying you to shill for them.
Do you even understand his point? seriously.
Posted by eberly at 2009-10-30 03:38 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Seriously his point is bullshit. The moron hasn't read the article and has no clue what his is talking about. He just blindly repeats whatever lie he has been emailed in today's insurance company talking points bulletin.
He is a paid shill wasting our time.
Posted by axe at 2009-10-30 03:42 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
This dishonest fuckwad is incapable of listing one single 'tax' the article lists that might possibly affect him.
He hasn't even taken the time to read beyond the first paragraph (if that far).
Like usual, RiR is a fraud and a sad waste of bandwidth.
Posted by axe at 2009-10-30 03:44 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
So Joe, some of those penalties mentioned in the link apply to you?
When did I say that?
I said that in the end, the taxes legislators claim will pay for their new programs never bring in the sort of revenue they claim it will, and even if it does, the program is paid for out of the general fund. They aren't going to separate the money they take from all the rich people and set it aside to pay for health insurance.
Posted by JOE at 2009-10-30 03:45 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
And why should it matter which of the provisions apply to me? If Congress wanted to raise taxes on anyone making over a million to 90%, would I not be allowed to object?
Posted by JOE at 2009-10-30 03:46 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
You are free to worry how things affect other people. Don't be a socialist about it though. Why not let the people who it does affect speak for themselves?
Posted by Manypaths at 2009-10-30 03:51 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
My main point?
Democrat's Health Care Bill: Tax after Tax after Tax
That's a lie. Don't fall for it. That the Right needs to lie is telling too.
Enjoy your HC reform folks. It's been a long time coming.
Posted by Manypaths at 2009-10-30 03:53 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Why not let the people who it does affect speak for themselves?
In that case, STFU about people who don't have health insurance, unless you're without it yourself.
Posted by JOE at 2009-10-30 03:55 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Doesn't work that way Joe. The uninsured are my problem currently. Yours too.

I am.
Posted by Manypaths at 2009-10-30 04:00 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Joe you ignorant slut,
We have the right to talk about the uninsured because as taxpayers, WE PAY THEIR TAB every time they show up at an emergency room and run up a $2,500.00 tab for something that a $25.00 office visit at a doctor's office could have cleared up.
Posted by axe at 2009-10-30 04:00 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive

Oh. Well in that case, I look forward to seeing my premiums go down as a result of this bill. When should we schedule the thread where we can compare whether that actually ever happened?

Money comes out of my check every pay period for it. I don't know where you work, but I've never had an employer that pays for all of it.
Posted by JOE at 2009-10-30 04:22 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Yeah, I am lucky in that I have no idea what my premiums are. I have great Medical and Dental and the company pays 100% of it.
I guess my last job, started this one in 2001 had some deductions from my check, but was only 50 bucks or something, but I don't remember.

I pay around $40 every 2 weeks but it covers health, dental and vision. I don't think this comes close to covering the actual premiums though.

Businesses will be taxed for not providing insurance; individuals will be taxed for not buying it for themselves.

Well, if you want an entitlement program you need to raise revenue to pay for it. At least Dems are being responsible and trying to collect now rather than steal from our future like Republicans did when they passed tax cuts while we were running deficits.
