Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, October 25, 2009

A group of rich Germans has launched a petition calling for the government to make wealthy people pay higher taxes. The group say they have more money than they need, and the extra revenue could fund economic and social programs to aid Germany's economic recovery. Germany could raise $91 billion if the richest people paid a 5% wealth tax for two years, they say. The group say the financial crisis is leading to an increase in unemployment, poverty and social inequality.

Well the government won't turn down a check.

Lead by example!

These Germans understand that wealth won't replace a prosperous society. In a prosperous world the wealthy can travel about freely, unafraid of their neighbors, they can indulge in activities along side their fellow countryment. In a society divided by too much disparity of wealth the rich become somewhat imprisoned within their own little world. There are many rich Americans who feel the same way.

Do you feel violent towards the rich, Danni? I sure don't.

When I had a painting business in college rich clients were the best, big tips, nice people. Just generally happy. Not any different than other clients I had, just bigger houses.

I'd be "generally happy and give big tips" too if I were rich and lived in a nice, big, newly-painted house. I'd be nice and smiling all day long. LOL

Usually we call them the liberal whack jobs. They are the ones on some stupid comission that prevents or limits progress. Like here they don't even live in the state.

BTW... Could have sworn Germany is committed to tax cuts in order to get the economy rolling. Heard this on BBC this morning.

The petition has 44 signatories so far

Alllllrighty then!

Me too fresh paint gives you a nice buzz

This would fall very short in our Country. The real 'wealth' in our country his held by the same people who mandate what 'wealth' is. How can you tax the people who make the money? Those who are payed taxes.

Taxes aren't the real problem. Our 'revolution' is in our monetary policy.

I hope it's more than 44.

I agree: tax rich Germans more.
Leave Americans alone.

I'm waiting for rays head to explode.

Don't worry about it, Diablow. No one is talking about raising taxes on poor people like you.

This line of thinking is too progressive to work in America yet. It'll get ugly here, already pretty nasty right now. We need a general progressive shift.

Then why don't they STFU and just sent the government a check? Why make a publicity stunt out of it? This whole thing stinks of people with an agenda.

Nobody in their right mind asks the government to make them do anything. If they want it done they just do it.

Danni is a fucking commie. She has a shitty job, has not done what it takes to get ahead in life and blames everyone but herself.

Typical fucking libtard loser.

Step right up and write that check. Don't let me get in your way.

I think in general the difference between the European mind set and the American mind set is that the typical European tends to be less greedy and feel less entitled than the typical American. Obviously there are lots of exceptions to that rule. But be they millionairres or people on welfare, Americans tend to feel more entitled to wealth.

damn right..the uber wealthy understand a stable prosperous society creates an environment where you can RETAIN wealth. An unstable, poor society creates the means to make wealthy people poor people again.

Money is only worth something because the rest of us say it is worth something..

and what will the government do with it?

I think it's because our population is less homogenous and thus we distrust one another more. The price we pay for opening our doors to everyone. Canadians generally seem to be a little better in terms of treating each other well (ex. 1: free health care), but I've met a few bigoted homophobic Canadians, too.

I can't help but feel that our younger generations, because of the prevalence of the Internet and social networks that allow them to communicate with people different from them, will open their minds up more to acceptance.

Hell, I've seen posters on the Retort change for the better. Tosser's posts are a bit less inflammatory and educational (especially regarding Pakistani and Islamic cultures and their complexities). There used to be a lot more anti-Islamic rhetoric, even hatred directed at anything Muslim, from posters.

between that and any enter city in america i would take the little world of the rich.

Work for it instead of bemoaning someone who has achieved it and you might one day be able to.

Rich Germans Demand higher taxes.
The group say the financial crisis is leading to an increase in unemployment, poverty, and social inequality.

Now that sounds very, very familiar, like it's coming from right here in obama land, in fact obama may have a clone running around Germany indoctrinating the Germans...

#21----Scrnmplet, just curious, have your posts changed?

This is awesome--a self-identified group of people who WANT to have their taxes go up?

Send 'em bills.

Money is only worth something because the rest of us say it is worth something..

Not only that, "old money" people understand the concept of giving back, that their riches provided them with a better life than the rest of us.

The Nouveau Rich of today would sooner drink that last bucket of water than prime the pump with it.

Apparently Germans aren't that stupid.

You have obviously never been to Europe.

Bill Gates sure seems to fit your idea of the "Nouveau Rich".

Spoken like a true underachiever. You do not have a fucking clue as to what you are talking about. Now go back to your fry machine.

Have my posts changed? Hmmm. I was a bit more of a staunch Liberal supporter before, would side with them on any issue as a knee-jerk reflex against Bush.
Bush-bashing got to a point where posters were grasping for any reason to lambaste the poor bastard, and I began to check myself. Now, I see it reversed, but I do see valid criticism of Obama as well (e.g., his being wrong for singling out a news organization).

I guess I'm more careful to moderate myself and think critically before I post. Not always the case, but I try.

Don't forget, she had a printing business once but it didn't make much of a profit.

Looks like you are taking lessons from dok.

44 of the Krauts want to pay more in taxes, they had a protest and threw fake money and they were SURPRISED that so few people showed up!?!

Well, duh!!

Moder8 - Danni - califaggotchris, MOVE the fuck to Germany. Don't for get to take Larry with you. It amazes me that you guys can't figure out that you are just as big a "bigot/racist/hater" as the "rtards" you preach your hate about. The difference is, you hate wealth, especially if someone else has it; you hate the wealthy, because they have it and you don't; you hate a free country where you are able to go from squalor to the White House (literally) or sit on your ass and accomplish nothing in your lifetime and the gov't will take care of you; you hate the fact that we have freedom of choice, I choose not to depend on the gov't for everything and you guys... well read some of your own posts.

How can you people (this country) have so much awe for our president and not realize why he is where he is? Is he the prez. because of welfare? because of free health care? because of entitlement programs?

I bet not, I have never heard ANYONE who made it big in life give credit to the fact they got food stamps or welfare or any other entitlement as a kid.
They credit hard work, supportive family life, studying, a mentor, etc..

Obama is a classic case of being successful because of practicing CONSERVATIVE values, not in spite of them. But, the power he craves comes from enslaving our country by "giving" us the entitlements we so richly deserve. All in all, he really should be ashamed of himself.

Let's see, 44 out of 1,000,000 rich Germand signed the petition.

That's about the same percentage as the percentage of rich Germans that are criminally insane. But on DR the percentage is much higher.
