Musicians including Pearl Jam, R.E.M. and the Roots are calling for the release of records on Guantanamo detainee treatment to find out which songs have been blasted since 2002 for hours -- or even days -- to compel cooperation from detainees.

This should be easy....

"Billy, Don't be a Hero" - Bo Donaldson and the Haywoods.

"The Night Chicago Died" - Paper Lace

"Lovin' You" - Minnie Riperton

I'm sure there are more, but these have to be the most heinous.

Do all 3 of those have Tarantino ties?

.....any rap song.......

Surely there had to be an ASCAP snitch in the mix somewhere. Aren't they terrorists, by definition?

Any Kanye West ditty.

"Do all 3 of those have Tarantino ties?"

Not that I know of, but scalping would be preferable over having to hear them.

I googled. Only 2 of 3 do.

He has a thing for the 70's I guess.

I am sure they played the song from the Rickrolled movement.

Just loop it.

Rick Astley or something like that.

Any C&W.

Do they mean 'Music to torture by' or m'usic that tortures'? Big difference.

As for the 'Music That tortures'....

I'm guessing anything by Frank Zappa, Toby Keith or ANYTHING that has come from American idol.

As for Music to Torture by....

....I take requests.

I am sure they played the song from the Rickrolled movement.

I'm not so sure.

That shit is pure 'sonic bliss' to those clowns.

Obviously I'm a Dylan fan, but Dylan doing "The Boxer" on "Self-Portrait" is hideous.

From the article:

"Played at a certain volume, she said, "it simply prevents people from thinking."

Who knew! I guess my mother was right. All those years of her yelling "I cant hear myself think" down to my friends and I in my basement band was, in fact, true.

Bush told me one of the songs: "I didn't leave my heart in San Francisco".

"American Pie" definitely

You folks must be wrong about this.

LOl. Another denial thread for the mentally challenged. Iron fist fucking music is not torture to them.

You're very right. Emenem and Dr Dre. I'd probably confess to raping my 87 year old grandmother if I had to listen to that shit for days on end.

Haha maybe some CIA guy has a "Enhanced Interrogation Mix" on his ipod.

Haha maybe some CIA guy has a "Enhanced Interrogation Mix" on his ipod.

I'm getting a subliminal message that some CIA person may have had an "Enhanced Interrogation Mix" on his M-threepio player...or something like that...

probably all this music, too
ironic, isn't it
en.wikipedia.org

It was Alvin and the Chipmunks sing Christmas songs.

Thanks Grumpy...now I'm gonna have Chipmunks songs running through my head all night.

Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Thanks.

Torturer's favorite song down there on the Gitmo seashore? Easy.

They call her Hard Hearted Hannah,
The vamp of Savannah,
The meanest gal in town;
Leather is tough, but Hannah's heart is tougher,
She's a gal who loves to see men suffer!
To tease 'em, and thrill 'em, to torture and kill 'em,
Is her delight, they say,
I saw her at the seashore with a great big pan,
There was Hannah pouring water on a drowning man!
She's Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah, GA!

As I understand the law, they can be required to pay royalties if they use the songs.

More than that, they cannot use the songs without permission. That would be "stealing." (See Windows 7 thread.) Like when they got in trouble for playing "Barracuda" at the RNC.

It is fitting to see the government caught in the web of IP law the government enacted at the behest of the media cartels.

It is fitting to see the government caught in the web of IP law

It's unlikely that those laws apply in this case.

I would like to suggest that they might have been playing "Jesus is just alright with me"

Does Branch Davidian come to mind? How about Operation Nifty Package? Step right up, get your compensation today!

'Torture'. By the Jackson 5

Technically wasn't that by The Jacksons?

What about Eddie Murphy 'Party All The Time'? That's one that is extremely catchy.

But seriously, they allegedly played a lot of jingoistic country, Korn crap and shit like that. Uninventive, predictable and obvious. Yet more reasons for the torture tapes to be "disappeared" - the "interrogators" would be seen for the idiots they actually are. How absurd do those interrogators get? They would shit themselves listening to Current 93 'I Have A Special Plan For This World', or 'Birth Canal Blues' or 'Inmost Light'. Insolent morons with no taste.

And when I saw the little children sing
Their mouths were red and sad
Their lipsticksealed smiles
And in their minds they hold and hope some sign
Some hope
The gaudy sequinned dragging banner of the inmost light
Around my eyes the sewers spew and laugh
The fallen flower gazes at me reaped
The crippled cuckoo falls brokenwing
And turns around to me and brokenbeak grins
From its head
Thus so no fear thus so it has arrived
The inmost light
And if I turn my head for shame
And see my lovers' rivers burst and folding there
I'll cross my eyes and close my heart
And whisper to her womb
Greatbloodgreatsilencemymother
themysteryofall
Nothingmaygrasptheenoonemaygra
spthee
Letmeholdtheenowohcomeohcomeat
last
The inmost light

Oh God I trail my hands up to my eyes
Up to my eyes up to my eyes up to my eyes
And say if only then my light and if only if only if
I had not despised
The inmost light
And so I kneel at bluegate blackmouthdeath
And offer as my feeble explanation
I thought so much was left and so much
Time to praise and call the inmost light

And I suppose full half and more of these are dreams
Some broken code of morals rising after i had touched
Her very pith and marrow oh her inmost light

If I could scatter children
If I could scatter children

And while I gaze and count my coins
After your godgoldglow they're dead
The head is dead and lead
I see and feel the hiding glow blaze behind you
The inmost light
And if your lips are taut
Don't move your teeth to speak
The lines will start to fall
And pull the structure of your world
Then all apart
And thus you'll see you'll call the inmost night
It wispered to me and laughed and said you
Lied and shamed the inmost light
And if you recall I bent yewlike and roared
You did not see the cloudburst wind dead towards you
Of the inmost light
Our hands tumble towards the skies
The block visions of the inmost light
And if I pointless arch
And spit white nothings at the sky
Oh bigboys check it out too fucking late
The children move through town
And skip tornskirted and roll the hoop into the arms
Of the inmost light
Sheer char shrift and sharp
Christ is risen you may creep to the cross too late
But it's much too late to welcome the inmost light
Branch sallow willow yew and tree
Not so gay no more
So falling faster and faster we fall
Nearer cataclysm
Or salvation
Or nothing how terrible
I we are snuffed out with just the momentary mark of smoke
To array our passing
So we stand milky in moonlight

Is this all there is?
Is this all there is?
Is this all there is?
Our eyes so fixed
That the darkness surrounds us
Unnoticed
And we are drowned by the loss of light
Unnoticed
Is this all there is my friends?
Is this all there is?

Goodnight goodnight the inmost light

Westron wynde when wyll thow blow?
The smalle rayne downe can rayne can rayne
Cryst yf my love were in my armys
And I yn my bed a gayne

Will you wait for me there by the dead clock?
No more dying
One red bird
Will You meet me there?
Before I sputter out?
Dragonflies and mayflies
Hovering candles
As alabaster guardians for me
If you open that door
All hell floods out
But quietly drably
The colour of
The smell of
The texture of
Dust

"Mother", by Andy Summers (The Police, Synchronicity).

I'd happily give away launch codes to stop hearing that song.

"The telephone keeps ringing, why won't she ever leave me alone.."

There's not one wrong song on Synchronicity. You must be thinking of Danzig's 'Mother'.

I'm sure there are more, but these have to be the most heinous.

Good list.

Spud would like to include "Wildfire" by America.

See also: Anything by Celine Dion, Anybody who's ever been on American Idle, The Jobros, That Hannah Montana tart and, of course, MJ.

Be Well.

My guess is something loud and/or repetitive, most likely house music or metal. Three Inches of Blood for just a little while would make me admit to anything you want.

Journey- Open Arms over and over. I would slit my wrists...

Disney is on the list, I'm sure:

"It's a small world"

Ahab, the Arab.

Being raised in Texas, Bush probably never heard anything BUT music to torture by. herm

good job to get the bash country music, bush, AND texas all in one short sentence.

so let me use just two short words to answer.

fuck you...

its a joke...relax.

its not that torture may or may have not been used that pisses them off
its that thier music is thought of as torture....

and most of it probably is.

question on red eye EARLY this morning...

so is this a 'dis' from the soldiers for picking it and is it music that they actually like but they know will offend those wonderfully compassion followers of that "PEACEFULL" RELigion of islam

You're very right. Emenem and Dr Dre. I'd probably confess to raping my 87 year old grandmother if I had to listen to that shit for days on end.

You have no idea what talent is.

On a serious note, these musicians and songwriters don't have a leg to stand on if you ask me. Anyone is free to buy their music and use it in any way they desire. They are bitching about the same free speech that they are given to write whatever they want in their songs. They would like to take the rights of others away who want to use their songs in a fashion that they do not like. Tough shit you spoiled, Hollywood type, liberal pricks.

SONGS THAT MAKE ME WANT TO END IT ALL:

www.youtube.com

REAL MUSIC NEWS..

ALL RIGHT...

previews at the movie yesterday..

"THE WEREWOLF"

would NEVER spend money to see this movie but the soundtrack caught my ear.

DANNY ELFMAN....thank you...its been TOO Long since your last work.

cant wait

rap music. play that garbage at me and I will admit to ANYTHING to make it stop. Sweet jeesbuz that shit is awefull. RAP = Retards Attempting Poetry.

Anything sung by that red dist mite Elmo would apply as being audio torture.

NO SHIT

and when was the last time you were stuck at a long red light with the rap shit going on a levels louder than a 'flock' of jets..

thats when I roll down the window and blast the 'mahlers TITAN symphoney as loud as I can get it.
they usually dont get it..lol

that disco tune 'CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES' would be the worst but, any disco, motown or christmas music. there are only so many christmas songs and by early november the repetition kills me.

I guess my mother was right. All those years of her yelling "I cant hear myself think" down to my friends and I in my basement band was, in fact, true.

Very nice....you combined my story with my disdain for Zappa lyrics.

Touche, Mr Goat, touche.......

Big deal. Bob Dylan has been torturing us for decades.

The fact that some think that playing music is torture shows how stupid this whole converstaion of torture has become. It seems that anything these interegators did some will call torture. When we start calling playing loud music torture is when the liberal pussy crybabies have taken over and the adults are no longer in control.

Good luck with any chance of getting information from any terror cell now that the we are require to tuck the terrorist in bed and give them a warm blanket and turn the lights down so they get a good night sleep before we can ask them the aloted 3 questions in our interegation tomorrow morning, but not before 9:00am after they have a good breakfast and coffe.

Go on, pretend that it's JUST music that they're using.

I guess the several people that have died during interrogations were just not music fans, right?

It is just music being talked about in this article. These people are upset that their music might be being used for, as they think, torture. That's the point. They believe that playing certain music at certain levels is torture, which is why they don't want their music used. There is no talk about other techniques being used in this article, only music.

His point is that liberals are so fucked in the head that they believe that this IS torture. Which throws into question their opposition to other techniques such as water boarding. No one has died during the use of water boarding but to libs it is torture. Just like playing music is torture.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but, I seem to remeber a incident in someplace called WACO and I think it was in Texas, where for several days they played some music at like 200+ decibles while shining flood lights all night long to make it hard to sleep or maybe wear them down mentaly..... But i mean that just crazy talk cause it was Democrat President I think so it could never have happened because ONLY republicans can torture. Right?

"Just like playing music is torture."

ever litened to a Green DAy album?

"There's not one wrong song on Synchronicity. You must be thinking of Danzig's 'Mother'."

Hehe, no, I am definitely referring to The Police. Don't get me wrong, Synchronicity is one of the best albums ever made, but Summers' "Mother" is the glaring exception for me, and is quite possibly against the Geneva Convention. Somewhere in the fine print.

"...any rap song......"
