Dutch Embassy Staff were caught in Pakistan's capital carrying illegal weapons and arrested. Pakistan is bordered on its East by a large rival with an active military and intelligence set-up and is thus very careful about foreigners carrying weapons in its Eastern provinces. The Dutch men were arrested, booked and released, and the Dutch ambassador has been called to the Foreign Office.

Kick them out, we will.

This is a message to the US. Please don't think we are stupid.

A few days ago, we squished a private company that was providing security to the Americans. Many weapons recovered there too.

"Illegal US Supplied Weapons"

I guess i missed that part in the article. Either that or i was unaware that only the us produces 9mm handguns or smoke and flash grenades and protective vests.

There is some background you have missed, that has been going on around here in Pak since a few months now.

Illegal weapons are American supplied.

Odd, i would think requesting a license to what, act as a Courier? Methinks the whole "reportedly" American arms thing smacks of propaganda.

Methinks the whole "reportedly" American arms thing smacks of propaganda.

"When we intercepted the Dutch vehicle the driver of a car behind them, identified himself as US Embassy employee named Sunny Christopher, having US Embassy's official card (16570)," the sources said.
Christopher interfered in the police matter, but after an exchange of harsh words the police sent him on his way. But before he left he had harassed the police to the extent that they were forced to make a misstatement in the report to the effect that he came after the release of the two Dutch men. The fact, as this scribe witnessed himself, later corroborated by the SHO, was that Christopher was present throughout the process of search and arrest.

Doesn't sound like propaganda to me.

Americans were behind this. We are well aware of how they work through others.

Only now, we are not going be give them a free pass.

"Americans were behind this."

Big bad plot to smuggle a couple little guns to where they are allowed to be.

Uh huh, i also like the part where the cops said "he made us lie but now we are telling the truth."

No ping on the fishy-ness meter with the whole "as this scribe witnessed himself" thing?

For your consideration

"On this, the American Deputy Head of Mission in Pakistan categorically denied having any connection with Dutch officials who were carrying unlicensed weapons. He made it clear that Christopher had no link with Dutch officials and termed his involvement as baseless and unfounded."

No mention of Christopher really being there even though the reporter had claimed to see it. You would probably have to work far harder to make a truth sound this fishy then to just make it up. So i think i'll stick to Occam's razor and call bullshit.

On this, the American Deputy Head of Mission in Pakistan categorically denied

Of course he would.

And it's not just a few guns.... there have been other incidents.

Anyway point is, the Americans are going to be put under the microscope and rightly so.
