Opposition to Obama's health care remake has dropped dramatically in just a matter of weeks, according to the latest Associated Press-GfK poll. Opposition among older Americans fell from 59 percent to 43 percent and support from Democrats rose from 57 percent to 68 percent.

Oops!

Who let the Blue Dawgs out?

Most likely a result of a knee-jerk to the scare tactics used by the far right. As more people become educated about the goals of healthcare reform they will tend to sign on.

So then we should be getting a health bill passed when, would you estimate?

Progressives will sign off if we get mandates but no public option, which option the CBO estimates would cut over 100 billion off the total bill.

But it's good to see the facts about this reform are finally filtering thru the manufactured lies and partisan political posturing of the GNOP.

I mean, the truth is hard enough without the purposeful bastardization by the "loyal" opposition.

Drops? What is it now Corky? 98% in favour?

"Progressives will sign off if we get mandates but no public option, which option the CBO estimates would cut over 100 billion off the total bill."

So that brings the total costs to what? $800 billion? How is that for being cost neutral?

Sorry Corky not this "Progressive" No Public Option means no progress. It's a crock of shit without a Governmental ran Health Care Insurance Option. Same shit sandwich.

Larry

-How is that for being cost neutral?

Deficit neutral..... unlike your hero GW's tax cuts for the wealthy and Iraq war, which were just added to the debt.

Larry, I meant we won't sign off on the bill if it has mandates and no po.

Wissy, ask Larry to read the article to you.

I meant we won't sign off on the bill if it has mandates and no po.

Then you probably won't be signing a bill.

In your dreams.

Don't bet against the po yet. Blue dogs are finding over 50 percent approval even in their districts, if not the national 65 percent and growing approval.

And when was the last time you knew pols to vote against something that was popular when they didn't have to.

Obama has, surprisingly enough, timed this well. Another couple of weeks of rising public opinion on the subject, and there will be plenty of Dem votes for it.

Wissy, ask Larry to read the article to you.

I won't trouble him. This version is going nowhere.

Blue dogs are finding over 50 percent approval even in their districts

Not Mary Landrieu.

"Pollsters push people to accept Obamacare"

"Gallup has unintentionally revealed how they, and other polling organizations, have been pushing the public to accept Obamacare.

The revelation came in a report late last month which revealed that a significant majority of Americans believes that individuals themselves, and not the government, should be responsible for ensuring they have health insurance. According to Gallup, 61% of folks they surveyed believe that health insurance should be left to the individual, not the nanny state. Unsurprisingly, 89% of Republicans held that view, but so did 64% of independents. Only Democrats, at 62%, wanted Big Brother to shoulder the responsibility."

-Not Mary Landrieu.

Mary will vote as she's told on cloture, then she can vote as she pleases on the Bill to cover her ass, and 51 will work then.

Rest assured that everyone will eventually lose their private insurance if the health plan conatains a public option and that doesn't bode well.

"Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters nationwide say guaranteeing that no one is forced to change their health insurance coverage is a higher priority than giving consumers the choice of a "public option" health insurance company.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 29% take the opposite view."

"The fear of being forced to change insurance coverage can be seen in results from a pair of survey questions.

The first question finds that 46% favor the creation of a government-sponsored non-profit health insurance option that people could choose instead of a private health insurance plan. Thirty-seven percent (37%) are opposed.

The second question asked about the creation of a public option if it encouraged companies to drop private health insurance coverage for their workers. Given that possibility, support for the public option falls to 29%, and opposition rises to 58%.

Even if it encourages employers to drop private health insurance for their workers, 51% of Democrats still support the public option. Eighty-two percent (82%) of Republicans and 61% of voters not affiliated with either party are opposed."

How is that tax on the fancy health care plan comming along?

This morning on the news they aired some poll where the opposition went from a 57-40 against to a 49-49 split. Hardly anything close to Corky's dreams of support from constituents. I am curious how somehow Obama timed this well. lol. Maybe because he hasn't exposed himself to the media everyday at these townhalls, his opposition numbers are decreasing. Was that his plan Corky?

The plan was to let the Congress bash out the details within his outline; let the rightwing fringe in the House make fools of themselves lying to people and Astroturfing with the insurance companies, then swoop in like Batman when the public finally figured it out.

The public is finally figuring it out.

Fox's Shepard Smith says public option isn't government takeover

Fox News host Shepard Smith has broken with the ideology of his conservative network yet again.

Speaking with Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) on Tuesday, Smith took exception to the allegation that offering a public insurance policy through the federal government is somehow a "takeover" of health care.

"Over the last ten years health care costs in America have skyrocketed," he said. "Regular folks cannot afford it. So, they tax the system by not getting preventative medicine. They go to the emergency room in the last case and we all wind up paying for it."

does it work both ways where your liberal vomit will be ommitted.

INSIDE baucas bill

cap on pre tax dollars will effect 36 million people as in TAXES GOING UP

also companies who now deduct taxes for corporate taxes will be abolished or at least capped.
this WILL be passed along to the consumer.
result..TAX INCREASE and/or complete government takeover..

and CBO set to announce on baucas bill today...
remember obama..."NOT ONE DIME".....

The remaining health care opponents will soon find out that they've been duped by the million-dollar-a-day corporate P.R. push, and then we can make some REAL progress toward healing the nation.

Leads me to muse: opinions are the fours we get when we add up the two-plus-twos of fact. Newspapers should deal more in the fours, since we get the twos off the net before the morning daily hits the porch.

But some folks add the twos and get three or five. Those are called Republicn opinions.

And some sums are truly bizarre: 4,359,367 or .0000000186. Coulter-Malkin-Beck-Hannity-O' Lielly-Palin-Bachmann-Cato- Heritage opinions. We must be careful about legitimizing those sorts of idiocies. herm

Of course, a worse conundrum would be belonging to a Party that had NO Bill to meet the public demand for health care reform.

"Ya'll will have to just forgive Jest. Once he saw the headline that the public is giving more support to health care reform, he stuck his fingers in his ears and started singing, 'LALALALALALALALALA!"

LOLOL...not true, Corker. I KNOW support has increased because RASMUSSEN SAID SO! And we know they're MOST ACCURATE...right?

"Forty-six percent (46%) of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That's up five points from a week ago. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% are opposed to the plan.

With the exception of "bounces" following a couple of nationally televised presidential appearances, this is the first time support for the congressional health care effort has risen. Rasmussen Reports is tracking support for the plan on a weekly basis.

Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats now favor the plan while 80% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 39% favor the plan, but 55% oppose it."

Poor Corker...you're so f...ed up you make Hogan's goat look like a well-oiled precision instrument.

Opposition to health care reform will continue to drop. Those who oppose health care reform keep dropping dead.

And some sums are truly bizarre: 4,359,367 or .0000000186. Coulter-Malkin-Beck-Hannity-O' Lielly-Palin-Bachmann-Cato- Heritage opinions. We must be careful about legitimizing those sorts of idiocies. herm

Wow. You are really on to something Herm. Out of about 130,000,000 votes casted in the last presidential election those 4.3 million must be stopped. They are hurting this country, they hate Obama. Blah, blah, blah...

Are you really this desperate to post some insignifigant number as though they mean anything?

Now we can only hope that Rasmussen doesn't tell Jest to take a long walk off a short pier.... oh well.... Save the Sharks!

Of course, a worse conundrum would be belonging to a Party that had NO Bill to meet the public demand for health care reform.

"americans held hostage in iran after carter helped the islamic radical takeover by being a pussy"

You really are disgusting. At least he didn't make deals with the Iranians and send them arms. At least he did send a rescue mission which is more than Reagan did when 286 Marines were murdered by a bomber. And yes there was inflation which Paul Volker was appointed as Chairman of the Fed to deal with and who Reagan kept in office when he became president so crediting Reagan with ending the inflation is pretty silly considering it was Volker's actions that dealt with inflation.
BTW, even with unemployment as high as it is right now it still isn't as high as it got during Reagan's presidency.
He still reigned over the biggest stock market crash since 1929.

Considering that 30% of Americans would oppose anything by Obama no matter fucking what, that leaves 10% that actually thought about it and disagree.

Let's not forget that 30%. I know you recognize that number. That 30% will never support a thing this President does and that fact sheds an entirely different light on these numbers.

"The Obama Administration's health care public option, which is the key to an eventual government-run system, is starting to look like one of those corpses out of the grave from Zombieland. Last week the public option failed in the Senate Finance Committee and Democrat Max Baucus, the committee chairman from Montana, announced that the votes aren't there on the Senate floor for a government-operated and subsidized insurance option. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, under pressure from unions and welfare groups, won't take no for an answer, so expect a knock-down drag-out floor fight over the issue on the Senate floor.

Some Democrats, notably Senator Tom Carper of Delaware, are trying to forge yet another compromise. Mr. Carper is promoting a bill to allow a quasi-public option in states where private insurance competition is scarce. That plan is a derivative of the co-op insurance system that many Democrats favor as their "Plan B." Call it a public option in disguise.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the Senate are strategizing over how to stop any version of a public option from getting enacted on the Senate floor. "We have the votes to defeat the public option on the floor," South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham tells me. In your world anything that doesn't support 100% of all reforms is automatically against HC Reform. Just curious if Obama requests something stricken from the bill, can he be dubbed anti HC Reform? Or does your standard only apply to repubs, blue dog dems or anyone else who may have a problem with the legislation. Even if it is only crossing a T or dotting an I.

My standard applies to people who use up every imaginable rightwingnut talking point about health care reform in the first 3 paragraphs, as this opinion "writer" did.

Rightwing talking point doesn't seem to be in this paragraph... STRIKE 1

Paragraph 2.

Rightwing talking points again doesn't seem to be in this paragraph... STRIKE 2...

Rightwing talking point could be implied, but you would really have to look... Foul Tip...

Max Baucus, bought and paid for by the insurance industry, announced

Anything he says is a right wing talking point.

Obama: Health Care Plan Would Give Seniors Right To Choose How They Are Killed

10.06.09

WASHINGTON"If your grandmother would rather be euthanized in the privacy of her own home than be gutted and hanged on a high school soccer field, she is entitled to that right," said the president, who acknowledged that "wiping out" the nation's elderly population has always been his No. 1 priority.

Wouldn't know the truth if it bit her in the ass.

"I just tell them the truth, and they think it's hell."

-"Give 'em Hell" Harry Truman

"My standard applies to people who use up every imaginable rightwingnut talking point about health care reform in the first 3 paragraphs, as this opinion "writer" did."

Mr. Moore is the WSJ writer who famously claimed "tax cuts increase revenue", and then went on to use proof which would get him flunked out of an Econ 101 class: he didn't factor for inflation.

I expect that during the next couple of weeks the wingnuts will be pulling out all the stops, they'll be pulling talking points from their asses, they'll be calling Obama and the Democrats Communists and every other thing they can think of. I don't think they will be able to stop reform now because it seems to be picking up momentum and even the blue dogs are getting blasted by their constituents but it is going to be an interesting couple of weeks.
Glenn Beck antics will probably reach new heights of insanity. TV networks will love it because the ratings will be up. Then, it will pass, nothing will be different, life will return to normal and the insurance companies will immediately start gouging us for every penny they can while they still can. Claims denials will reach 99%. People will die and the righties will blame Obama.

Aside from that, those comments pasted were not RW talking points Corky was whining about. Saying Harry Reid is in a fight for the Public Option with Unions is a fact. Right, left or other.

Danni's #105 is the most perceptive - and frightening - post in years. herm

The Drudge report has a link to kids singing in favor of Obama and his reform on CNN.. I am gonna get in trouble for this I know, But why does this all look like Some West African Nation who sing for their leader and jump up and down for him no matter how many of their own people he has his goons machete to death. Yes I am tragically caucasian but My fellow country men who just happen to be black sing songs to this guy, make their kids sing songs to this guy..IT IS JUST CREEPY...

Today at the White House Easter Egg Roll, dozens of children "from the stricken Gulf Coast region serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the beleaguered Federal Emergency Management Agency." To the tune of "Hey Look Me Over," the kids from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama sang:

Our country's stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

thinkprogress.org
Creepy!

Most likely a result of a knee-jerk to the scare tactics used by the far right.
taxman.

I agree, but still think Obama and Pelosi screwed the pooch all summer, unless the game plan was to let the nutjobs prove their nutjobness to the world....

Was that a one time thing?, And was it broadcast on CNN? And I see Bush was SECOND, after congress. So do you assume it is the same thing?

ThinkProgress?..C'mon..What kills me is the more they lose, the more they go after the people they are losing to, Kinda like Olberman..What a pathetic joke

Thanks HOPEYCHANGEY those kids are talented, smart and entertaining which... I know you are can't stand.
The kids were great, their message was great, and it showed they are all smarter than HOPEYCHANGEY.

"But why does this all look like Some West African Nation who sing for their leader and jump up and down for him no matter how many of their own people he has his goons machete to death."

HOPEYCHANGEY provided a link, check it out and then tell me with a straight face that HILLBILLYJIHAD isn't a raciest piece of crap.

Danni said, "I know you are can't stand."

Uh ... of course dear. And you are smart, articulate and, well, entertaining too.

Another aspect of this story is how the main stream media works hand in hand to enable this ass clown to ruin this economy for generations to come. From the stimulus pay off debacle to the Chicken Little global warming hysteria to the government takeover of health care -- the increased taxes, fees, transfers, (whatever you want to call them) will be an enormous drag on this economy that will impose misery. And with the ever outstretched hand of government ready to provide more relief at the expense of the productive class, we can all sing on CNN in misery together.

At least 2/3rds of the country has been against the Iraq War, Afghan War, the fucking bailout and in favor of a public option in health care.

...and a large majority in Washington couldn't care less.

"Public option" is just a euphemism for "government run" and those who have an IQ greater than 60 know that once the proverbial foot is in the door with such an "option," it will lead, by design, to a government run health care system.

Care to guess what proportion of the country wants a government run health care system?

Fucking libtards. They won't be honest with us about what the "public option" really means. Such is the same hide the ball dishonesty that is evidenced by the demoncraps refusing to make the bills available to the public before they can be digested. That famous liberal "You can't be trusted to govern yourself - we know what's best for you" mentality.

So much for our dear leader's promised "transparency" in this process.

I can't wait until we simply can no longer be trusted to elect our representatives.

I understand that the vast majority of those polled were democrats. I don't think the issue with the American people is healhcare reform but it is the how and what and the cost.

I think it is clear that anyone can find a poll that is suitable for their particular argument. As an individual already dwelling in a government run health care program (military), I will tell you that if you feel like waiting 30 days or more to get something checked out or going through three different appointments that are spread over months to get a procedure that you and the PCM already know is necessary then be my guest and support overall government ran health care. Obviously alot of what we deal with in the military is a shortage of doctors and or staff, which is what we already deal with in the civilian world (a shortage), so when you add so many new individuals into an already crowded system, the result won't be what you are hoping for, yes everyone will get care, but will the care be timely and of good quality. Solving the shortage would be a nice but that would take years or we could just outsource everything (bring in foreign doctors)or lower standards because we can't just miraculously make people capable of completing medical school.

The link you provided proves you weren't telling the truth, on either of the issues.

Thanks.

But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, under pressure from unions and welfare groups, won't take no for an answer"
