US National Security Adviser James Jones disagrees with the assessment that Iran now knows how to make a nuclear bomb and stands behind a 2007 assessment that Iran stopped work on its nuclear-weapons program in 2003. "We stand by the reports that we've put out," Jones said on CNN's State of the Union Sunday.

But...

Iran could make an atom bomb, according to UN report's 'secret annexe'

www.timesonline.co.uk

So who do you believe?

Jones does not want to accept reality. Iran will continue to develop Nukes. They will test one in the next two years. Once they test, there is no going back. We will then have their neighbors creating their own nukes. Then WW-III. All it takes is an accident/terrorist attack.

#1...

I for one believe Obama or I should say Emmanuel doesn't have a fucking clue who is saying what. I expect Hilary to have a third opinion anytime now.

July 2009
Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that the "window is closing" on opportunities to halt Iran's pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Mullen estimates that Tehran will build its first nuclear bomb in one to three years. The Islamic republic is "very focused" on developing a nuclear weapons capability, according to Mullen. He says that the U.S. has not ruled out the possibility of military action against Iran, adding that a military attack would more likely come from Israel. He notes that an attack on Iran would have "very destabilizing" effects for the region, and encourages approaching the issue diplomatically before it continues to escalate.

"Jones does not want to accept reality."

Jones speaks for his boss and his or her boss, all the way to the WH. The undecider is playing out his entire political career as a State and US Senator. Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantamo, NK, Iran... Make a fucking decision and stick to it. Quit relying on your stay under the radar mentality. You are the President, start acting like one

Uh oh. Now the libbies have a real dilemma on their hands...
How do they disagree with their two favorite things in the world, Obama, and the UN?

My guess is that B-rock is their favorite child.

It doesn't fuckin' matter. The do nothing Democrats will let it slide.

Seeing as it is has been up over an hour and they are dummying up here, you are probably right.

Why do you Right wing nuts care if Iran gets Nukes? Wouldn't that be your ultimate "I told you so?"

And as Far as creating "destabilizing" effects for the region, what do you think we have been doing since "operation desert storm' in 1992.

Stability in that region would be devastating for western economies. Imagine if that area of the world was united. They would have complete control on the world oil supply, and would probably charge the US way more money than it is currently being spent robbing them.

Besides, Iran is not within nuke range of America. Let them have a nuke. Let them and the rest of Asia blow it self apart. Then USA can be #1 again.

I say we wait until Iran has a bomb and poses an imminent threat. Then, Barry can go on another "apologize for the sins of the U.S." tour, disown Israel and hopey changey for the best.

Iran will hint that it has nuclear weapons and there will be strategically planted statements from various sources that if it does have nuclear weapons, it only constructed them due to an increasingly belligerent and threatening Israel which drove them to this very reasonable self defense measure.

The libtards will eat ... it ... up. On this forum will exclaim, "Well of course, what do you expect? Any country in Iran's place would have done the same thing."

obama has dropped the hammer on iran he wants to see progress by the end of the year and iran said we are trying to finish up as fast as we can,it's no easy task to build a fucking bomb.

Also, WHO CARES!!

North Korea (Axis of Evil??) not only Has NUKES, not only is it currently building more Nukes, but it is shooting missiles over Japan just for fun. It has also said that any sanctions placed against the country would be seen as an act of war.

You idiots actually think America actually cares about Nukes??

Dem. Recipe:

keep head in sand. pull it out after something b a d has happened. blame republicans. repeat.

perhaps the iranians are only after fuel for their time machine.

Over five hours up and not one single lib here has opened their yaps. Must be some sort of record.

That's ths most sense you have made in some time Larry.

Anyone who got an "A" in High School Physics and Calculus knows how to make a nuclear bomb. The knowledge is actually fairly simple and ubiquitous. Iran has engineers, Iran knows how to make a nuke. The bottleneck in making a nuclear bomb comes from the fissile material. Getting the super enriched Plutonium that's needed to make a nuke small enough to fit on a missile is difficult and time consuming.

Me thinks our dear leader is "re-evaluating" the policy that we will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. You know ... kind of like his decision to re-evaluate the commitment to fighting the "right war" in Afghanistan. (Urgent request for additional troops is ignored while more servicemen die.)

Any idiot (well, except the libtards on this forum) can see that Obama is being rolled by I'madinnerjacket.

I feel like I've seen this movie before. Impose deadline ... allow stall ... impose deadline ... allow stall ... wash and repeat until nuclear weapons are acquired then find way to blame Bush administration.

I will hand it to him though. He apologizes for the sins of America by bending her over and spreading her cheeks better than any republican could.

"Anyone who got an "A" in High School Physics and Calculus knows how to make a nuclear bomb"

Yes, but the ones who got "F's" and also know are the ones you need to watch out for....

FTA: Yet the White House is eager not to appear soft on Iran. Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the UN, effused to comment specifically on the IAEA report, saying "there are various assessments, and they don't all align" on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday.

Effused to comment?

Spud found her commentary to be rather low key and hardly effusive at all.

/Note to CSM: Invest in spellcheck feature.

FTA: Regardless, she said, the US' "whole approach is predicated on an urgent need to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons capacity."

And why is America so dead set on preventing Iran from gaining nuclear capabilities in the first place?

From Crispee's cite...

He says that the U.S. has not ruled out the possibility of military action against Iran, adding that a military attack would more likely come from Israel.

Israel?

The undeclared nuclear gorrilla in the room?

Spud to Israel:

Tactical nuclear pre-emptory attack on underground Iranian nuke facilities.

Not yours.

Can not have.

Be Well.

From my cite? Interesting you ignored the first part of the paste. I guess I needed to spell it out. I didn't think the rest had any bearing, although I am not surprised it was pasted as a deflection.(By the only lib here to comment I might add)

The US National Security Advisor, completely contradicts the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, and is the point and purpose of the paste. How anyone, inlcuding the left can't see a problem with this, is beyond partisan and just plain embarrassing. This seems to be the pattern of this Admin., going back to the Blago trifecta where Obama, Emmanuel and Axlerod all had different takes on who spoke to who.

(By the only lib here to comment I might add)

And what am I, chopped liver? I left a long and detailed post in the other Iran/nukes thread explaining that Iran doesn't have the capacity to generate the fissile material for a weaponized nuclear bomb. You need Pu-239 for that, and they can only enrich Uranium. U-235 nukes are too big to fit on any weapons platform other than certain Russian missiles. As the Russians won't sell said rockets and Iran lacks the industry to build them on their own, Iran can't deliver a nuclear bomb. There is no issue.

Now North Korea, OTOH, has multiple Heavy Water Reactors at their disposal, which can generate the Pu-235 and the Tritium needed for fission-fusion-fission, miniaturized warheads. They have the missile tech to hit a lot of targets. And their nuclear test showed that they've likely achieved miniaturization already, which makes them almost certain to have a couple MIRVed warheads.

The solution for both states is diplomacy, pure and simple.

Now North Korea, OTOH, has multiple Heavy Water Reactors at their disposal, which can generate the Pu-235 and the Tritium needed for fission-fusion-fission, miniaturized warheads.

NK is, based on our own government's statements, a much greater threat. The right will still ask you, "what is to stop the Iranians from building a breeder reactor and making 239Pu" because an Iranian nuclear holocaust happens to be at the top of the the neocon agenda. Iran has low-enriched uranium and should they decide to enrich it further they can make a bomb... and the fear being spread is that the bomb will be given to terrorists. A fairly silly fear... nukes are much better as deterrents than stab-you-in-the-back weapons.

BTW you don't use tritium. You use lithium deuteride, which is converted to tritium on the spot by neutrons released from the primary. Lithium deuteride is far easier to procure and you don't have to worry about it decaying (3H is unstable).

Fucking nukes. Why is every discovery accompanied by the question, "now how can we use this to kill people"?

I apologize for excluding you...

As for your post, I am not one to agree or disagree. I do know there is much dissent coming out of the WH and other Agencies about Iran.
