That's cool. China will buy it up.

Good for the jewelers. I'm pleased when companies put the good of others over profits. It's all too rare.

I guess the producers will have to be content with selling their gold to electronics companies, and of course Jewelry makers in Asia and Europe.

This 'boycott' is so silly. Gold is a commodity like corn, oil and orange juice. There's no way to know where a chunk of gold came from.

Pebble Mining?? Is that what Women call it when they go "mining" for Micropeckers Pebble mining??

cut off nose

Yeah, but they're still selling those blood diamonds aren't they?

Be Well.

I am so proud and happy to have bought krugerrands in the 1970's for under $200 an ounce from "racist" South Africa when the Harvard eggheads were busy divesting themselves of SA assets. My investment outperformed Harvard's planners!

More sales for Soros owmned gold mines.

Coincidence?

A heart-warming tale of inclusion and giving back.

YES - to preserving the environment.
NO - to obscene profits!

Be Well.

That's like boycotting oil from a certain source. There is a market for all gold mined. It'll go somewhere.

Translation for the fucking morons here who think that this is for your benefit: we aren't going to use gold from that area to keep the price up.

Ray will sell Tiffany's some of his.

If it's hydraulic mining fuck em'. They don't say in the article. Georgetown in California can tell you all about that. I'd like to hear the rest of the story.

Hydraulic mining is the worst. They would sheer entire mountains in half and destroy the land and river beds for miles. I love to pan for gold in rivers (like the North Fork of the American River, the Yuba River, and up in Placerita Canyon) and have often seen guys use some major size dredges which can sometimes shift the river current if the dredge is a real large one and used extensively in one spot. But they don't come anywhere near the permanent destruction caused by hydraulic mining methods.

No Gold is still..Gold if you OWN the US Govt!!!

No Worries! Wall St.Zionists will easily get around this boycott even if it means forcing the US Taxpayers to "Compensate" them for the loss of any potential earnings in Bristol Bay!!! No doubt the Zionist "Owned" US Govt is quickly finishing up the official paper work to instigate this new Billion Dollar Scam!

Translation for the fucking moron here who calls himself Shawn:

Gold is a global commodity. The price of any commodity is based on supply and demand at the GLOBAL level.

So, if they dig up the gold and sell it in Asia, it only alters the distribution patterns; gold that would have gone to Asia goes elsewhere. It has no effect on price.

Hell,
Let them send me the gold and I'll take care of it....

Yeah, but they're still selling those blood diamonds aren't they?

Be Well.

That was my reaction as well. Wonder what prompted this particular stance?

Alaska native leaders sent a letter last week to Anglo American CEO Cynthia Carroll asking her to honor her promise to forego development of the mine, given the local opposition. They cited a 2009 survey that shows overwhelming opposition (79%) amongst Bristol Bay residents.

Don't these fools know that local concerns play no role when it comes to global corporate demands? Them Palinistas can just move in with Shawn and Vernon if they're not happy with their Bay trashed. Let them eat tuna! (after they've mined the mercury out of it, of course).

Is there a doctor in the house for anticadillac? He posted the following:

All gold has trace metals and they vary from mine to mine. Gold can be traced before it is smelted to 99.9 pure.

The mines ship ingots before it is refined.

Ha. It's Alaska, if the locals don't want the mine to be there, it's NOT gonna be there.

That's O.K. Those jewelers will just buy gold from Chinese e-waste recyclers to make their jewelry. You won't notice the difference anyway.

True, nullpointer. And self-righteous liberal jewelers will have no qualms about the chinese gold coming most likely from slave labor.
