A box of leaflets being distributed to "win the hearts and minds" of the Afghanistan people failed to break apart in the air and disperse its cargo as intended, instead falling intact, killing a child.

If it was your kid that was dead I suggest you both would be a bit less cavalier.

Too bad you refuse to acknowledge that the pain and suffering of people of different geographical origin is every bit as valid and heart-wrenching as anything you may have experienced.

Try getting out and seeing the world. You'll find that humans are humans, no matter where they are born.

Just like you, only usually with a bit more soul.

Can't say our propaganda doesn't have an impact.

Horrible. And hysterical.

"If it was your kid that was dead I suggest you both would be a bit less cavalier."

Of course. Don't take me as being serious in that statement. I was being facetious in an over the top sort of way.

Too bad Bush isn't still president. The media could get miles of coverage out of this story.

sfabisch, I nominate that tirade of yours for the self-righteous, humorless asshole of the day award.
'Ohhhh! People don't CARE (like I do) and people HATE so much (who do not agree with me) and ohhhh what a cruel world!'

what a freaking mess this administration is. gawdawful mess.

You think we weren't dropping propaganda from the skies before Obama was elected?

Too bad Bush isn't still president. The media could get miles of coverage out of this story.

#5 | Posted by KBM at 2009-09-30 10:01 AM

Yeah, and this thread would be hundreds of posts long, with likes of Skizziks and Panchovilla blaming the administration.

#10 | Posted by Hagbard_Celine - i thought you, of all people, would sense my keen wit! just basking in the shadows of the left - devil's advocate if you may.

I would like to suggest that this was an accident. Unfortunately, people die in accidents every day. Do you also try to find political implications everytime someone gets hit by a car?

bush' fault!

Dropping leaflets is pretty pointless. Hell this war is pointless. Fuck Afghanistan. Lets go home.

After 8 years were no closer to winning. Am I missing something here? If we can't kick a bunch of cave dwellers asses I say somethings up. Even the Soviet Army couldn't defeat them. Wait, we helped those guys fight the Soviets back in the 80's right? "Ah, shit I give up"! Maybe we all should and bring the troops home. Were gonna need those guys here to protect us from a bigger threat. The global warming, Wait.. global climate wait.... global ice age ah, still waiting on that one.

Too bad Bush isn't still president. The media could get miles of coverage out of this story.

Yeah, and this thread would be hundreds of posts long, with likes of Skizziks and Panchovilla blaming the administration.

But now, it's just Kranc.

Bottom line-if Bush hadn't been the worst C-in-C ever, the afghan war would have been won during his term. Instead, he left office 0-2.

and if your guy has his way, northgay, he'll leave office 0-0 - oh wait!

Nanc is the Madco TPP meetings open to the public?

american hubris killed the child. hubris wa spackaged up in that box. ham-fisted arrogance and idiocy courtesy of the good ol' USA. bush and obama are simply enablers.

the worst characteristic of american culture is the hubris that comes along with it. its led to many deaths, foreign and domestic, and will continue to do so.

even though we know shit about what's truly good for us and the rest of the world, we are quite good at convincing ourselves we know, and then putting it into action in the most inept way possible.

the hubris coming from the rapture ready right that drove the invasions of iraq and afghanistan is just as bad as that coming from the liberal left in the name of endless interventionism and making the world safe for democracy. it does the same amount of damage to the same group of people-- namely folks around the world that have done absolutely nothing wrong to anyone.

#19 - some are and some aren't. would you like to attend those that are?

Nanc I sure would.

#22 - well, we won't be having a public event until the end of october - a townhall of sorts with a potluck and games for the kidz. will you have an issue you'd like to discuss? we need to know ahead of time so we may schedule your speaking. and you'll have to bring a non-poisonous dish to share with a hundred or more people. this evening many of us are attending a townhall event in springdale - you're probably too far away to make it to that one on such short notice.

what a freaking mess this administration is. gawdawful mess.

wow...just wow!

Did your God tell you to say that? I think maybe you better check in with Him/Her on this one. I think you need a good talking to by the Lord of Peace hisself.

nah! i'm just parroting the left when bush was in office.

Winning the hearts and minds of the Afghan people through osmosis.

What do you think the odds are of that happening? One in a billion?

Bottom line-if Bush hadn't been the worst C-in-C ever, the afghan war would have been won during his term. Instead, he left office 0-2.

#17 | Posted by northguy3 at 2009-09-30 01:06 PM

I fully agree.

But now, it's just Kranc.

#17 | Posted by northguy3 at 2009-09-30 01:06 PM

Exactly the point.

nah! i'm just parroting the left when bush was in office.
......#25 | Posted by nanc

....and you were parroting the right when Bush was in office......

.....well.....at least you are consistent....if only a parrot......

.....maybe you can ask the Wizard of Fox for a brain......

.....so you can have your own opinions......

For those of you too busy to read the article, the box was dropped by the RAF, not the US. Not that it makes much difference.

"(T)he fantastic waste of money involved in these programs" could easily buy health care for a lot of Americans. Indeed, the cost of the war would match health care for EVERYONE. herm

"what a freaking mess this administration is. gawdawful mess..."

Nancy, I know you want to blame the president who was elected legitimately, but this is STILL the war of the one who wasn't. herm

and you'll have to bring a non-poisonous dish to share with a hundred or more people.

I'm not sure if I can do that. Secondly there is no way I will leave my name with anybody there.

Of course. Don't take me as being serious in that statement. I was being facetious in an over the top sort of way.

If you disagree specifically with anything I posted please form a coherent logical response, else STFU.

I fail to see the humor in the constant death and misery the U.S. and other coalition forces are spilling across the globe.

The fact that you do proves my point better than I ever could.

This war was escalated by Obama. His now, and you're supporting his actions with tacit approval. Don't pretend to be anti-war anymore.

It is not a war. A war is when you kill people and break things.

This is a police action. We are there to protect the locals, not kill the enemy.

Were the leaflets made in china?

A tragic loss - But hey! The village gets free tp for the rest of the year!

Really, some Taliban is going to pick up a leaflet, like some dusty gospel tract, and suddenly start waving the Stars and Stripes? Didn't we give this shit up in Vietnam?

No, and in the 80s we dropped "textbooks" in Afghanistan encouraging the local Muslims to take up Jihad against the infidel invaders.

That worked out pretty well, don't you think?

I thought they were all illiterate. Doh.

First off, a tragic accident for the little girl and her family...

The leaflet thing has it's positives and it's detractions. When you can't sit down with the elders of every hamlet and hovel you can use this method to dissiminate information as to coordination meetings, rebuilding services offered, operational plans and current news (as long as the locals can find someone who can read them, usually a religious leader). Many informal regional discussions have been started this way which develope the only reliable source of info; HUMINT.

The downside is who actually "reads" and "interprets" the message to the population. That relies on the honesty and integrity of the sometimes limited educated poulation.

And yes, everybody likes having a reliable source of TP...

If they aren't papist,they aren't people.

"For those of you too busy to read the article, the box was dropped by the RAF, not the US."

Well never have so few done so much to...so few.

Bruceaz somehow manages to work religion into this and put words into my mouth. An ace job of lying, bruce!

YEAH!!! Because we all know the the 'Magic Negro' himself threw these at the girls head.

Well, Bush got blamed for every little thing (even unpainted barracks) that happened in the military. Seems to me the same rules should apply with Obama, don't you think?

Of course you don't agree. The left never fails to apply differenet standards to Obama than they did to bush.

unpainted barracks

I guess you don't remember soldiers welding scrap metal to their vehicles and peoples folks sending their kids body armor.
You go with the army you got (Rumsfeld I know, but he wasn't commander in cheif)

I'm not defending Obama,I'm just saying

I don't recall Bush getting blamed for the RAF.

Of course you don't agree. The left never fails to apply differenet standards to Obama than they did to bush.
Does the right? Someone as nonpartisan as Goatman should have a ready answer. :)

I guess you don't remember soldiers welding scrap metal to their vehicles and peoples folks sending their kids body armor.

Yes I do. I remember a hundred other things about neglect as well. I was citing one that Bush got blamed for that he shouldn't have to prove my point that commonsense was holding obama to a different standard than bush was held to, so all the oter anecdotes were irrelevant to make my point.

Bruce says, "I guess you don't remember soldiers welding scrap metal to their vehicles and peoples folks sending their kids body armor.
You go with the army you got (Rumsfeld I know, but he wasn't commander in cheif)
"

You haven't a clue as to the ineffectiveness of "armor" when you are mere feet away from a 100 lb IED. Just the shockwave (unstopped by armor) kills! Even the APC provides little protection against such explosions.

However, Democrats attempted to cause public hysteria by preying on patriotic concern for our brave fighting forces in Iraq ... not to save soldiers, but to gain votes for Democrats, most of whom had fought against increased budgets for the military, even when Clinton was president!

The only outcome from that effort to defame Bush, Rumsfeld, our military leadership and Republicans was to force al Qaeda into making 200 lb, or up, IEDs to blow the re-armored M1114s off the road ... and a cost of 1.5 billions and growing ...

If you haven't served in the military, you shouldn't bad-mouth them, or try and gain votes for literally lying the party's ass off about the war ... all you do is assist the enemy being fought ... as al Qaeda gives applause to Democrat efforts to embarrass a US commander-in-chief for votes ...

Does the right? Someone as nonpartisan as Goatman should have a ready answer. :)

Easy. Each party is as fucked up as the other.

even when Clinton was president!
Tadowe the congress controls the budget, you know that.Republicans controlled congress after '92.The military budget was being reduced because the cold war was over.Remember, the end of history

92=94

You haven't a clue as to the ineffectiveness of "armor" when you are mere feet away from a 100 lb IED

I don't have a clue, but they did .You think they were welding for good luck?

not to save soldiers, but to gain votes for Democrats, most of whom had fought against increased budgets for the military, even when Clinton was president!

Wasn't the "peace dividend" achieved by decreasing military budgets?

If you haven't served in the military, you shouldn't bad-mouth them*

*may not apply to Max Cleland and John Kerry.

or try and gain votes for literally lying the party's ass off about the war ... all you do is assist the enemy being fought ... as al Qaeda gives applause to Democrat efforts to embarrass a US commander-in-chief for votes ...

Can say the same thing for republicans

Bruce says, "... Republicans controlled congress after '92.The military budget was being reduced because the cold war was over.Remember, the end of history"

You misdirect what I said and ignore that Clinton and his congress did reduce the military budget ... which budget was increased by Republican control in '94, but not to previous levels.

Bruce goes on, "I don't have a clue, but they did .You think they were welding for good luck?"

None of them had been up-close-and-familiar with IEDs or they wouldn't have bothered ...

You will continue to ignore my point, like a good yellow-dog MUST! The effort to revile Bush, et al over "armor" was NOT an effort to help the troops, but rather to pander to the public's fear for their safety, and in order to gain party power for Democrats.

... but you party over nation liars will continue to revile the efforts to free Iraq to gain partisan party power ... anti-patriots of the USA are united under the Democratic party ...

party over nation liars

That's so easy for you to dribble out.I've never on this site claimed to be demo or repub. You just jump to your conclusion so you can spout your one sided shit and you consider yourself a thinker

Hagbard says, "Don't take me as being serious in that statement. I was being facetious in an over the top sort of way."

Swift had your number, dufus:

"Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody's face but their own."

Your one-line 'joke(s)' shows your own 'face' ...

Bruce quacks, "I've never on this site claimed to be demo or repub. You just jump to your conclusion so you can spout your one sided shit and you consider yourself a thinker."

Then, you're an ignorant dupe for partisan party power in defaming Bush, Rumsfeld and Republicans for NOT providing ineffective armor for fast movers!

As mentioned, even APC's, with far more armor than the improved, re-armored M1114 (Humvees)!

Come on back do some more misdirection with me as your target for your ISDs (improvised stupidity devices) ...

... or save yourself some embarrassment, Ducky ...

Fast movers right Chocolates and roses

you consider yourself a thinker

revisionist thinker

When I read Tadowe's posts this is the image I have of him (not the younger guy).

Tadowe's real name is Walter

The Brits, not the Americans, dropped the box, Einstein. Try re-reading the article.

Another obama induced killing.

Child killed in error by soldiers. You can practically hear the sounds of the libtards manic Lubriderm-palmed masturbation from here. Such delicious outrage. Oh I'm almost there.. oh... oh.... if only she had been holding a puppy...

43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforcements

(I think the headline pretty much sums it up, I'm glad the Bush administration didn't sit on/ suppress/ ignore such a plea)
