In lawsuits stemming from law enforcement and intelligence efforts after the Sept. 11 attacks, three federal courts have left open the possibility that former Attorney General John Ashcroft and former Justice Department official John Yoo may be held personally liable.

I always figured Ashcroft quit hoping to avoid the consequences of what he'd wrought. Yoo just seems oblivious.

I haven't seen any personal accountability from high-ranking government officials in a long time. Remember when Janet Reno accepted full responsibility for what happened at Waco... and then didn't resign, but continued on as AG for the next six years?

Ah ha.... the vengeful are allowed to reign in terror under the Obama admin... they are coming....

they are coming....

as long as its in the privacy of their own home its ok by me sleazy

You reap what you sew Lefttards. Just remember when the Demorats are out of power, maybe the Republirats will try the same thing. Oh thats right, I don't think the Republirats are quite as hateful as YOU PEOPLE. I swear this country is soooo fragmented, nothing truly important will ever get accomplished. Ooopps sorry, I forgot Osama Obama is going to get his Bammercare thru. And soon, 100 percent of school children(except for white kids) will qualify for free breakfast, lunch and after school nutrition programs(dinner). The American people have truly become Toilet Donkeys.

"Ah ha.... the vengeful are allowed to reign in terror under the Obama admin... they are coming...."

This in spite of all of Obama's caterwauling about not wanting to dredge up the past...

Just wait until the next administration looks into the Obama administration.

Todays American Govt Can't Allow for any Criminal Convictions of its Fascist Architects!!!

Absolutely No Possibility that Ashcroft & Yoo or any others in the Bush Regime will ever be "Convicted" of any Crimes!!! The Biggest Obstacle is that the Obama Govt is happily using and building on the Bush Regime's Fascism - So any "Negative" Court Cases that Challenge or Diminish that (Bush/Obama) Fascist Power has to be STOPPED in its tracks!

There are 2 very easy, unchallengable ways to achieve this Justice Nullification - One is for the (Bush Facilitating) US Supreme Court to "Overturn" any judgements on the Criminality of the Bush Nazis and the Second is for President Obama to Grant a Presidential Pardon to all involved - or whoever is being prosecuted!!!
So Don't Worry and Continue Sleeping Peacefully Messrs Ashcroft & Yoo!

They'll never get anyone from the Bush Admin. on intelligence efforts. It'd be like trying a eunuch for rape.

"Among the Yoo memos retracted was his Oct. 23, 2001, opinion that the Fourth Amendment's protections against unreasonable searches did not apply to domestic military operations aimed at terror suspects - so soldiers could enter and search homes without warrants in pursuit of terrorists."

Given the protection and support the drudge righties throw up for Bush and asscroft's decisions, I'm guessing righties will be applauding if Obama sends the Marines into the trailers of rightwing domestic terrorists.....

Good point. And if they don't give up the information we need, waterboard them until they do. Ironic, isn't it: the worst we could do to them is subject them to the same conditions they inflicted on others.

^.^

Quite frankly, if we have terrorists inside the country, why shouldn't the police and military be able to find them, and arrest them? If they weren't trying to re-create 9/11 and such, there wouldn't be a problem.

But those fuckers love Metallica at 96db. Rock on.

Too fucking funny.

Some of these Judges want to name Bush? How many detained Japanese citizens sued Roosevelt and his AG for rounding them all up under the guise of national security?

Crispee, my sense is that people didn't think the way in the 30s and 40s that they do now. It wouldn't occur, and if it did, the gov't would put you down faster than you could say "lawyer." I can't back that up; it's just a sense. Certainly, it would seem that open questioning of the gov't was ... less then.

How many detained Japanese citizens sued Roosevelt and his AG for rounding them all up under the guise of national security?

How many millions did pants-pisser Reagan give the American Japanese to appease them?

How many millions did pants-pisser Reagan ...

According to Nancy, he didn't get to that phase until the last three years of his life.

dIXIE FOREVER can't even manage caps lock key.....

It looks like Ashcroft and Yoo kinda of forgot about the third balance of power. They knew what they were doing was wrong. They just figured they had a blanket pardon waiting for them no matter the deed. Screw em'. Oh and it was a Bush appointee that sealed the deal.

I think we can all agree Asscroft should have been sent to Gitmo for covering Lady justice's boobs and waterboarded for his sore eagle song. Now that was a crime against humanity.

Besides, anybody who loses an election to a dead guy hasit coming....

Northguy3...Another shining example of why our schools are failing.

I got a chuckle out of the first line, but the second one was not a joke. What's up with that? Wishful thinking?

Another fine example of right wing philosophy. Death, a solution for every thing that ails you.

Idiot Ringmaster, Ashcroft lost his Senate seat to a Mel Carnahan, who was dead and buried when the election took place. Hence, he is a political joke that you aparantly don't get, he's the guy who lost to a dead guy. It's like he finished second in a one person beauty contest! Duh!

How many millions did pants-pisser Reagan ...

I was referring to Reagan's cut-and-run response to the Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon, and subsequent sale of weapons to the Iranians behind it.

The literal pants-pissing came later, though his doctor admitted Reagan was displaying symptoms of Alzheimer's as early as 1981. Lending creedence to his Congressional testimony that he didn't remember those meetings.

When a new dictator takes over he always jails or kills his oponents.

Idiot Ringmaster, Ashcroft lost his Senate seat to a Mel Carnahan...

Yea, well I thought about it after I went to work. I misunderstood what you were trying to say. I guess that makes two idiots, one that can't read and one that can't write.
