Hammond said, and Fuchs confirmed, that several weeks prior to Thursday's meeting, Davis came by the kiosk to suggest Fuchs display pro-Obama items which would allow him to continue to display anti-Obama items.

Fuch him.

Free speech. Gotta love it.

You blithering idiots had no problem when it was confined to "free speech zones" as far as possible from whatever traveling Republican circle-jerk happened to visit town.

Wow, how hateful they sound. What a racist this guy is.

Racist? Who knows... any accusation would be groundless, but then again, ElCid has never lost a debate to one of his strawmen. One thing that everyone can be sure of is that this man and his supporters are mindless sycophants of the republican party.

Obama - take him or leave him. Incessantly whine about him, though, and your bitching will effectively label you as a drooling party hack.

I can't get the link to open, but I'm going to go on ahead and guess that this is just another idiot who doesn't understand the 1st amendment pretending that they're a victim.

If you've not seen any of the video from the past week's G20 summit, you should.

They're demonstrative of one thing, at least.

If you're not a member of the government sanctioned media, free speech is fucking dead to you.

Members of military performing police actions...free speech zones...less than lethal anti-personnel weapons...militarized police who look at us all as the enemy.

It was a good experiment.

You blithering idiots had no problem when it was confined to "free speech zones" as far as possible from whatever traveling Republican circle-jerk happened to visit town.

You obviously then must have a problem with them when they were used last week at the G-20 conference.

Of course I do. Earlier I was pointing out ElCid's hypocrisy and perhaps trolling a little. Honestly, it isn't a liberal/conservative issue. It's a 21st century government issue. All advanced western societies are growing more authoritarian and less inclined to respect the civil liberties of their citizens. That's a huge problem, and one that is hardly addressed by titling your thread "Liberals Can't Stand Free Speech". Now, back to trolling.

The G20 protesters are generally a bunch of sheltered idiots who know that calling yourself an anarchist and going to protest the "New World Order" will get you a lot of ass at UC-Boulder.

And Republicans have all the spine of a slimy, avocado-tinted vaginal discharge.

You obviously then must have a problem with them when they were used last week at the G-20 conference.

Not putting words in his mouth...

but it always seems like one group (liberals) are using the sins of another group (so-called-conservatives) as an excuse for perpetrating the same crimes on the citizens of America.

Occasionally, the political pendulum swings back to the other side and the roles are reversed.

The G20 protesters are generally a bunch of sheltered idiots who know that calling yourself an anarchist and going to protest the "New World Order" will get you a lot of ass at UC-Boulder.

I guess I didn't have to put words in your mouth.

This is the equivalent of justification of the actions of the "authorities" against the protesters because you don't see their cause as righteous.

Their views may be silly, but they have a right to say them. It shouldn't require a permit. It should require a special zone be set up. They should be front and center along with everyone else.

Meanwhile, the authorities could stop planting cops dressed as anarchists or other protesters who have the sole purpose of stirring shit up to give the police an excuse to test out their new toys from the military industrial complex.

change liberals for democrats and conservatives for republicans and I have nothing to disagree about in your statement.

"It should NOT require a special zone be set up."

change the terms around how you wish. it's an observable fact that people who call themselves liberal and people who call themselves conservative engage in the activity I mentioned.

Now, I don't know if this was staged. There have been photos published showing the same guy lying face down, hands bound, same vehicle with men in military fatigues hovering around him.

There were no Miranda rights read when he was being taken into custody. Just grabbed and stuffed into a vehicle.

www.youtube.com

self proclaimed members of these groups may be doing those things, Ax, but the groups as a whole are not. Again, I'll say that you'd have been more precise using my corrections./

And then we have police who are pushing back a crowd of activist, and in the midst of all that is going on, they gas and pepper spray and block college students from evacuating the scene.

They're not even part of the demonstration going on below. That's some fine police work, Lou.

It's a broad generalization. It's perhaps an unfair generalization to those members of those groups who do not participate in such douche-baggery. Still, I'm comfortable with my assessment. That's mostly because, when the time comes, both groups will rely on the support of their more extreme wings to push their agenda and get their dude elected.

Democrats can't rely on me for anything these days, Ax. Not since Clinton 92.

Good article, nulli. More depressing that its two years old and still relevant. Good suggestions for future research too. Thanks.

By dudes in fatigues, no less. Shady as fuck. I don't agree with the protesters' cause, but the government response to this is miles over the top. Do we have a free society? Hell no. We live in a facsimile of a free society.

I completely agree with you.

Did you miss the "now back to trolling..." part? I feel so... misunderstood.

No, I saw it.

But, being stubborn and hard headed, I feel it necessary to make a point, even when the point is already clear.

It's nothin' personal. I had something that I wanted to say, innocent bystanders be damned.

Democrats can't rely on me for anything these days, Ax. Not since Clinton 92.

What were your issues with Clinton in 92?

" Do we have a free society? Hell no. We live in a facsimile of a free society."

Marcuse called it a one-dimensional society. Wolin calls it "inverted totalitarianism". See my #11.

Looks like they are doing better without you.

Just saying.......

"The Mall" isn't a public place therefore, management can censor anything they want.

What were your issues with Clinton in 92?

That was the last time they could count on me. I missed the next election because of residency issues (moved to Portland last minute), so maybe I should have said 96. 92 was the first and last time I voted major party for President.

Looks like they are doing better without you.

You can eat shit, manypaths (and a more dishonest retort handle can not be found here).

...Just saying.

"You can eat shit, manypaths "

Hagbard talks trash! Hopefully Manypaths will have a good comeback and keep it going.

I'm good at a great many things, LM.

It's in my job description.

Twinkle, twinkle little star...

I wonder how elcidce90 posted this article....I think RCADE should remove it.

ahw shit

liberals DO love free speech.
when you agree with them you can say anything damn thing you want.
heaven help you if you force obama to tell the truth about 'sharing the wealth' though. or things like exposing HIS LINK TO ACORN and shit like that,
THEN you are in trouble

You seem to have no trouble posting ridiculous unfounded claims on a public website.
