AMEN

Boy with Down Syndrome Scores TD

What is... the last presedential race!

I will take administrations who follow suit of previous administrations for 500 Alex!

Awwww...that is so awesome!!!

What a great couple of teams to allow this young man a chance to get into the game.

Pretty sad that some people have to inject politics into a heartwarming story. But that's par for the course with some people now. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Larry

"for 500 Alex!"

You've obviously haven't watched Jeopardy for years! They don't do $500 anymore. In the first Jeopardy it's $200, $400, ... $1000. And in double Jeopardy, it's $400, $880, ... $2000.

If you are going to make a lame joke, try not to make it lamer by being innacurate on how Jeopardy works!

I know the joke was lame but now I'm afraid I don't know which one is more lame... My joke or the fact that you are soo tied up in the specifics of this lame joke... wait a tick..... I found a winner... take a bow Member!

"for 500 Alex!"

Maybe it was one of the Daily Doubles.

Heartwarming, isn't it?

Sorry to say it but this is patronizing as fuck.

With Maryville up, 46-0, Benton coach Danny McCamy sought out Maryville coach Jordan Moree with a question: Would you mind if our special needs player got a chance to compete?

Moree and the Maryville team were happy to oblige, allowing Ziesel the chance to take a handoff on a sweep right and head down the sidelines for a touchdown.

Patronizing as fuck.

When he told his dad he wanted to play football, his father agreed - but only if he did everything the others kid did - starting with weight training, followed by a two-a-day practices.

"I'm far from a, 'I want this for him, I want that for him' type of parent," he said. "I want him to be treated as normal as anyone."

Yeah, because all the other "normal" kids would have been allowed to run the ball in with no attempts at tackling then with everyone cheering on.

Please, gag me with a fucking stick you patronizing fuck.

"As a coach, as an educator, I'm hoping this is a feel-good story that is opening the eyes of people," he said. "Special-needs kids of all nature are no different in that they just want some opportunity."

I gotta agree with JPW.

Yeah am an insenstive asshole.

The kid didn't even have to try. They handed him the ball and moved out of the way. The only thing missing is a guy from the opposing team backpeddling while also cheering him to the end zone.

That's not heart warming. It's the celebration of mediocrity. They should let this kid get in game for a few real snaps and hand him the ball. I bet he mows over the kids on the field.

I disagree. I believe this was a cherished moment for that kid. For just a moment in time this kid was on top of the world. He was made to feel important a part of something big. I betcha He will remember this always and will have a big ole smile on His face when He remembers it. Isn't that what sportsmanship is all about?? Being a good sport to one and all??

Larry

Did he do it on first down?

I agree with JPW and Axiom. I had a couple of wrestling coaches try to pull this shit on me, I wouldn't play along. They just went and found some other guy to do it for them, as you can tell by the responses to this so far there are plenty of people who get off on this kind of shit.

Life is a fight, it's going to be a tougher fight for a kid with downs syndrome, the sooner they realize that the better.

Was his name Al Bundy?

The kid's fucking retarded. He doesn't know any better. He's happy as fuck right now, and you'd rather the other team's star linebacker knock his head through his ass?

Lemme guess, you also don't praise your dog when he takes a shit, do you? Sick fuck.

The kid's a fucking retard for fuck's sake. Pull it out of your ass.

Which is worse?

Calling it a celebration of mediocrity then advocating they give the kid a REAL opportunity?

or

Calling the kid a "fucking retard" and expecting special treatment to be greeted with "awww how sweets"?

The kid's fucking retarded. He doesn't know any better. He's happy as fuck right now, and you'd rather the other team's star linebacker knock his head through his ass?

No. The other team doesn't have to make him a target and smear him, but they could have let the kid run a real play and actually play the game.

Lemme guess, you also don't praise your dog when he takes a shit, do you? Sick fuck.

LOL I'm the sick fuck while you're here scolding everyone for not thinking the retard should be treated differently. How is it that normal equals special treatment in your world?

I never said he should be treated normal. He's retarded, and thus might not know how to take a hit without getting hurt.

Then he shouldn't be on a football team. How does he practice without learning to hit and get hit? If he's just standing on the side, dressed out watching the other kids practice but not participating, he's no different than finding a random band dork, slapping some pads on him and saying "fulfill your dream to get a touchdown".

Seems like there are more "retards" on this thread than there were on the field during that game.

He runs non-contact drills with the team. Better than sitting in "special ed" all day getting fat.

Hell yes.

Ah, I see, if this was Palin's kid then it's hands off!! Since it's just a normal joe's kid, he needs to suffer unduly so he can learn the hardships his disability will bring.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I am sure he is aware of the different treatment he recieves. Having spent a few years woring with disabld children like this, the are rather smart, uch more so than they re given credit for. Watch some of the outakes from "life goes on" Corky talks about his real experiences with being "different".
