The Obama administration said it will make it more difficult for the U.S. to block lawsuits against the government by claiming it must withhold state secrets to protect national security. A group of senior Justice Department officials, along with Attorney General Eric Holder, will have to approve the use of the state secrets argument in court cases in which government agencies want to conceal classified evidence, according to a memo released today.

Don't believe for a second that power will allow its actions to be reviewed by the little people.

Don't delude yourself.

A step in the right direction. Of course, if Holder and his crew simply rubber stamp every request to classify, this is nothing more than a gesture. Time will tell.

Not even a gesture, I'm guessing. Just P/R, since no one will know until a couple college kids with cameras break some "state secret" that isn't one.

Hypothetically, of course....

I am sure the ACLU is not happy about losing all those future lawsuits. Have they filed anything against this Admin. yet?

The DOJ doesn't do much of the clasification work nor do they approve it. Each agency of the government does their own.

Should have used the word "conceal" classified evidence.

I just have to ask.........., when is obama going to set-up a global terrorist crisis, so he can avert it? Making himself out to be a hero. he and stammering, studdering braindead joe biden.
The 2 of these clowns are the most pathetic morons ever.
Why does the left hate America?
Can we stop sending our hard earned tax dollars to all the other shithole nations, now that we are no longer a PLAYER on the world stage?

I don't think he'll take that tack, as GWB made false flag operations so passe'...

After he saves the economy, fixes health care, gets us out of Iraq, catches OBL and the Taliban and mends our global image; you know, repairs the damage your inept "Conseravtive" leaders caused over the last eight years, he'll be more than enough of a hero...

I.E, he won't have to manufature a hero's image like Bush did, he'll actually be one...

Rightnut again lives up to his name.

Btw, foreign aid is less than 1% of the national budget (I think that's the figure)--a message to rightnuts and leftnuts. Of course, if you're talking money spent on military action or military presence in other countries, the number grows... just a little. ; )

That's fucking funny, seriously.

"Can we stop sending our hard earned tax dollars to all the other shithole nations, now that we are no longer a PLAYER on the world stage?" -RIGHTNUT

We need to freeze all foreign and domestic government expenditures. Until we get our own financial house in order and stop our government from bleeding money (fed/state/local level).

Let the world see what would happen if the USA wasn't supporting the rest of the world.

Borrowing money from a country that hates us, to give to other gov't that hate us, makes NO FUCKING SENSE.

Gov't at its finest.

You didn't even make it all the way through the header this time, did you, Snoops?

The federal government is not about to give up state secrets just to prove it was a state secret, so WTF. It wouldn't be a secret anymore. That's like a law that makes it a hanging offense to tell a dirty joke. How could someone explain it to the judge without repeating it?

Nice try though, Obama. At least half the country will buy that line.

now go count emergency aid...

Hey, Yodar, I'm not saying that we don't spend too much money on other countries. I'm just suggesting that critics need to watch how they talk about it (as do I!).

Down with Empire! : )
