Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, September 17, 2009

Dad simply wanted a souvenir -- not a national television appearance. Steve Monforto won over many hearts after his 3-year-old daughter Emily tossed a foul ball he caught at a Phillies game back onto the field. Stunned by his toddler's toss, all Dad could do was hug her. On Thursday, his entire family traveled from their home in Laurel Springs, N.J., to appear on the Today show. "I've been waiting so long to catch a foul ball, and over the edge it goes," he said with a laugh. See the video.

Awwwwwwww!

She throws like a girl....

Wow! A sports fan acts like a human being? What a shocker. I suppose everyone was expecting him to throw her over the rail after the ball?

Too much emphasis is placed on catching, hitting, and throwing in baseball...

If baseball was truly all about catching, hitting, and throwing they woulda caught all those steroids users by now, hit 'em with million dollar fines and thrown them out of the league.

I caught a foul ball once, but it wasn't really the Big Leauges.

I was at a KC Royals game.

What a little socialist - she takes from the haves and gives to the have-nots.

Typical bitch.

Actually, she is a conservative.

She took from the have nots and gave it back to the haves.

Saw that video on the TV news. Sweet stuff.

Taking steroids out of sports now would be like taking marijuana out of rock and roll.

Face it, it would fucking suck.

Great, now we can start another fucking reality show and ruin another family!

"Taking steroids out of sports now would be like taking marijuana out of rock and roll.

No it wouldn't. It would bring back big afros, muttonchops, handlebar mustahces, stupid nicknames, green fuzzy gender-ambiguous mascots, day-glo uniforms, geri-curls, disco demolition nights, astroturf knee, and hotdogging after stealing bases-- far more interesting IMHO. Home runs and the resultant posing only excite people who filled their levis with paste while watching the first night of operation shock and awe on thier HDTVs.

I saw the vid on espn and it was hilarious.Kid got rid of the ball asap like it was a hot potato! dad was like "Wow why did you do that?"

This story reminds me of when David Letterman called Sarah Palin's 14 year old daughter a whore.

The left

Fat Whore Thom.

You could tell the Dad was a good one from his reaction, he just hugged his daughter and didn't let on about losing the ball.

LOL, my minds in the gutter. I thought you where going to say the Mustang Ranch!

Positive things here:
Family outing..and, yes, including the kids;
Loving parent attitude in face of
disappointment;
Two parents still together...!!!!

That video was as cute as cute could be.

Well, I must say , if any video deserves a parenting ad from the Mormons, this it it.

#15 OUCH

Smart girl - she knew where the ball belongs!

She was only doing what Daddy said to do every other time he gave her the ball.

She is way too young to know how say one thing and do another.

For that she has to wait until she can join the College Republicans.

(Didn't think I could make this thread political, didja?)

"like taking marijuana out of rock and roll."

That's called "punk".

Wake me when Hockey season starts.

That video is worth more to the kid's folks than that ball ever could be.

"On Thursday, his entire family traveled from their home in Laurel Springs, N.J."

This guy seemed pretty classy through the whole thing.

Usually, Philly fans from Jersey are bigger scum than Philly fans from Philly.

Just kidding. Philly fans from Philly are as scummy as it gets.

I just saw the video for the first time this morning.. the guy is a great Dad.. he didn't even flinch when the little girl tossed it back.. he just hugged her..

I'd have hugged mine too, and wouldn't have been mad.. but I think my facial expression would have reflected at least a moment of "WHAT?"

To this guy's credit.. he was terrific

Just another classy Phillies fan. The baseball crowd is a lot nicer than the Eagles crowd. Except for that one murder a month or so ago.

Great video...but there is something sort of sad about the MLB removing the video from Youtube.

Just when you were starting to feel good about the sport....
