I have experience with this too. A well known bank in my area tried to take away my domain name. Basically it depends on how determined you are. They can sue you and you have to defend yourself and there's no way to recover the money you lost defending yourself.

It also depends on how much publicity you can generate and if the generated publicity makes the other guy look bad.

There probably wouldn't be a California--the division would be decided by the people. There are lots of conservatives in California--enough to vote in Reagan. I suggest splitting along the lines of the Civil War as far as dividing the country goes, and people can live where they want. California would probably be split between the northern and southern sections..

But there would be unity in both countries, and many more people would be happy with their government. Your government would have no more liberals in congress--never a liberal President--only Conservatives on the Supreme court--you'd have the same Constitution--no welfare--no workers comp--no minimum wage---no overtime hours---no universal health care--no taxes on the wealthy--no affirmative action. Not highly likely. It is a police report and the brand name of a stolen item is pretty significant. If I recall correctly in 1990 there were only a couple of people making transportable cell phones.
