he forgot to have the well-placed woman who weighs close to 200 pounds and thinks she looks like a million bucks in her halter top and hiphuggers!
i like the secret little sign they make with the two fingers down as they pass each other going in opposite directions - we like to do this to them when we're out cruising in our charger - pisses them off! or so all our harley rider friends tell us...

He also forgot-plan trip to avoid traffic because Harleys overheat like crazy in stop and go conditions. My B-i-L has a Harley and he went to the Daytona Beach thing a few years ago and said there were overheated and seized up Harleys all over the place.

I broke my left leg on a HD back in '72, hit and run, but after it healed I got right back on. Not on the HD though.

Bumpersticker:
A $19,000 loan and 100 miles on the odometer don't make you a biker!

I suppose I'm not cool enough to ride a harley. I ride a 1500 vulcan classic. I paid $4000 for it almost new and a comparible harley costs $20000, plus mine will flat leave the harleys in the dust (not counting the new harley screaming eagles, which are awesome).
And I hate all that damned waving at each other too. I rode to work today and I'll bet 20 guys waved each way. I'm trying to start an anti-waving movement. I know there are a lot of people who ride to be seen being cool etc.., but most people that ride, just like to ride and don't care what anyone else thinks.
But here's the funny part; You can't afford to ride a harley on a bum's salary. If you see someone riding a harley with all the paraphenalia, they are probably a well-paid professional.
But what's the difference in people riding harleys and Nanc driving a challenger (which is a car whose best claim to fame is that it's kinda cool)? She could have bought lot's of cheaper cars without the styling and power, etc... and still got from 'point a' to 'point b' just as well.
I'll bet $10 that she even has some challenger paraphenalia.

I have a fatboy but your bike is pretty damn nice. My buddy rides one and I must admit he has a smoother ride.

lipz - it's a CHARGER, not a challenger - not quite as stylish, but extremely comfortable and with the limo windows, no need for sunglasses - EVUH!

99% of Harleys are bought for the attention it gets if you want to go really fast or long-distance cruising foreign bikes are the way to go.

Dammit, now I have to re-calibrate the coolness meter.

Had a Road King for a while. Good bike, but not reliable.
We now ride a Yamaha Venture. Good bike. We put about 10-12,000 miles on it each year. I ride it to work most of the summer. We like to take off on weekends around MI and IN. We take a couple trips a year. Usually about 10 days or so. Spent time in KY, NC, SC, TN, WV this year. The mountains are a blast and all the little towns are cool. Stopped at a couple of the distilleries on the Bourbon Trail in KY and a horse farm. Next year we want to head out west. It will depend on how much my daughter's wedding costs and how much time it eats.
I tested a Victory earlier this year. It was fun. I like the Arlen Ness styling. I am waiting to see if Yamaha will offer ABS sometime in the near future.
When someone asks me why I don't have a Harley I tell them that I could not afford the trailer.

Hey now...
95% of all Harleys built are still on the road...
...the other 5% actually made it home.
GL 1500SE for me.
