Japan's voters cast out the Liberal Democratic Party for only the second time in postwar history, handing a landslide victory to the opposition in hard-fought elections on Sunday. Prime Minister Taro Aso announced he would step down to take responsibility for the defeat.

I should have put a better headline, maybe:

Electoral Tsunami Washes Out Conservatives in Japan

Or "Japanese again imitate their conquerers."

I like to see the world lean to the left, but a good conservative balance is always needed. It would be nice if our cons would talk about issues (fiscal responsibility, privacy, etc) instead of flailing about like children and making up random lies.

(fiscal responsibility, privacy, etc)

That's what true conservatives would do. The group that has hijacked the Republican party is far from that.

I wouldn't vote for an Aso, either.

I thought this was going to be about some Asian who couldn't pronounce his "R's".

Thank you for your traditional round-eye racism.

If you are holding yen sell now. There is a change in the wind for the yen and it's all good for Japan, but the dollar will eat it now that the 'conservatives' are out.

And the libs are any better? Wake up son.....

If any of you think the dems are in favor of fiscal responability and privacy let me remind you of your messiahs grand health plan.

The Democrats have embraced a more populist platform, promising handouts for families with children and farmers.

Handouts, go figure.

Am I reading that right? The lib japs got their ass whipped bu the conservatives.

If only the people of the US had the courage and commitment to clean house within our own dysfunctional congress.
One would hope that such a stir would sober the elite American Overlords and cause them to sit up strait in their comfy chairs.
My hat is off to the people of Japan.
Well done.

"If only the people of the US had the courage and commitment to clean house within our own dysfunctional congress."

Actually we got a good start on the process in 2006 and did some more in 2008. I just hope that the 24/7 cable news doesn't stop the progress.

"Am I reading that right? The lib japs got their ass whipped bu the conservatives."

No, actually you're reading it wrong, or more likely you didn't read it at all. Hint....things are not always as they seem from the headline. Sometimes you actually have to read the article.

"Am I reading that right? The lib japs got their ass whipped bu the conservatives."

Ignorant bastard.

TOKYO Japan's likely next prime minister rushed to select Cabinet ministers Monday after his party trounced the ruling conservatives in elections and inherited a mountain of problems, including how to revive the world's second-largest economy.

I guess that dav has pointed out the errors in my ways.

Japan will never get out of their economic troubles.

Japan will never get out of their economic troubles.

Why not?

The economics of libs isn't condusive to growth in business.

Remind me about this in two years.

Our country is suffering from libural policies just like we did under FDR.

"The economics of libs isn't condusive to growth in business."

Our country experienced the greatest growth in our history under the leadership of men who would all be considered liberals by today's standards. Statistically we had zero growth since 2000. Our manufacturing base has nearly disappeared since the presidency of Ronnie RAygun.
The belief that conservatives bring growth is not supported by facts, exactly the opposite is.

How long before they take over Honda, Toyota and dotsone, oops Nissan?

Which banks will they commandeer first?

Japan has zilch for natural resources. That has gotta suck. Damn close to the hinderance the slugs in this country are to an economy.

"Actually we got a good start on the process in 2006 and did some more in 2008...

The 111th United States Congress began on January 12, 2009. As of January 6, 2009, there were at least 9 new senators and 52 new representatives. [LINK]

When there is 33 Senate seats and 435 House seats up for grabs, the above statistic isn't really "cleaning house". I'm talking about a real smack-down. The kind of blowout that wipes the smirk off the faces of our overlords and reminds them of who the boss is.

Change we can believe in....get ready for another round of it, nannyfascists....
