Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, August 28, 2009

Glenn Beck took to his whiteboard to demonstrate how various words revealed a disturbing hidden secret about the Obama administration. It sort of went something like this: Gimme an "Obama!" Gimme a "left!" Gimme the word, "international!" Gimme some "graft!" Here's the reference to "ACORN" that I am contractually obligated to mention once a show! Gimme a "revolutionaries!" Followed by "hidden agendas!" And now, give me a "Y," because surely, the world is staring at Glenn Beck and asking themselves, "Why? Dear God in Heaven, why?"

First of all, instead of the word "why" he should have used "youth in asia" like on the signs the dip shits hold up for the world to see.

Anyway, that's the hidden secret, folks, "oligary." That word is a mystery, therefore the secret remains a secret.

"oligarhy"? is that it?

It used to be that people in the media were highly educated. I wonder what this new movement is that exalts people who barely finished high school.

Glenn Beck is an ex- drug addict.

But I guess the saddest commentary is how dumb much of our populace is or else these guys would not get the attention that they do.

"Glenn Beck is an ex- drug addict."

first of all if you watched the entire program he made note of the missing "c" and said he'd finish the word today - which he did.

Someone started a thread about a misspelled word?

Fuck, must be a slow night

Maybe it's not relevant to you Goat, but a guy who has a show on TV should exhibit some degree of literacy and some idea of what he is talking about. Apparently Beck is just winging it.

Doesn't it bother you that a man who has this access to the public pushes this ignorant agenda and then cries about it.

Would you cry on camera? Of course not, you know Beck fakes it every time. So where's the credibility?

Yet more signs of a severe coke fiend. Here's looking forward to headlines of Glenn Beck overdosing on camera!

Then again, I also want Jim Kramer to be seriously exposed. Maybe they will..

Have him spell "retard".

Have him spell "retard".

I remember a certain vice-president and the word "potato(e)" got a lot of attention.

I remember a certain vice-president and the word "potato(e)" got a lot of attention.

I remember that, too.

Jack Kennedy was a bad speller. Thomas Edison was a bad speller. Who gives a fuck if Glen Beck is a bad speller?

Besides, if one looks at he the word he misspelled, it looks more like a mental typo (I do it all the time, too) than an actually misspelling. Surely no-one would think that "oligarchy" is spelled "oligarhy". "Oligarky", maybe, but not with the "h" and not the "C"

I still think it's incredible there is a thread about this. Has the left of the DR become a bunch of spelling brown shirt zat-bots? (who BTW, obviously uses spellcheck since he can not spell "goatman" without one)

i239.photobucket.com

After all our little leftist-socialist friends started filling their trousers over Glenn Beck, I started TIVOing his 5:00 show. Now I see why they go into hysterics over his exposing this administration. I have yet to see any of them even TRY to disprove any of the things he brings to light. All they can do is call him an idiot (a rich one,)an ex-druggie (so was Obama,)or some other nasty names. Obama and his cohorts should be just HALF as truthful as this guy. Transparency???? Yeah...in a pig's ass....

I don't like Beck, but he's the only one in the media who is talking about the radical, communist whack-jobs that Obama has in his administration. That's exactly what some of his people are, and Beck is the only one talking about it.

" the radical, communist whack-jobs that Obama has in his administration"

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I, for one, am getting really tired of all the proposals from them about collectivism, a classless society, a push to a one-party state, and the countless declarations of praise to Marx and Lenin.

Danforth,

There are individuals in czar positions in the Obama administration who are self-admitted communists.

Sorry if that truth offends you.

PS - that doesn't mean that Obama is a commie or that he's pushing a commie agenda.

"There are individuals in czar positions in the Obama administration who are self-admitted communists." " that doesn't mean that Obama is a commie or that he's pushing a commie agenda."

Oh, so it's their thoughts that upset you, not their actions. Got it.

So some righty can't spell oligarchy. Big deal. I wonder how many of Obama's (now) 45-percenters don't speak English at all? Or who think that the ability to spell is somehow too white, and don't bother?

And, yes, Obama is a collectivist. If that ruffles the feathers of someone like Dandy Danforth, who cares. If you had said a year ago that a community organizer would show up and on his first month on the job take over General Motors and Wall Street, I would have hoped that even reflexive libbies like Danny might have been given pause.

But no.

Oh, so it's their thoughts that upset you, not their actions. Got it.

#21 | Posted by Danforth

If George W. Bush had appointed Jerry Falwell to a czar position you would have gone absolutely apeshit. And you know it.

not their actions.

Their actions remain to be seen. Time will tell.

Let me ask you this:

1. Are you cool with the DOJ dropping charges of voter intimidation against the Black Panthers?

2. Are you cool with the DOJ dropping the investigation of Bill Richardson?

3. Are you tickled pink that this administration has placed avowed Communists into 'czar' positions, including the FCC, without having to go through the advise and consent process in the senate?

"So some righty can't spell oligarchy. Big deal."

Except he's one of the leaders on the right, he has a prime-time television show, and he was making a big deal about the spelling of the word.

"If you had said a year ago that a community organizer would show up and on his first month on the job take over General Motors and Wall Street..."

Well, if the guy you voted for twice hadn't screwed everything up, it might not have had to happen. No one ever heard a peep on the campaign trail of any desire to take over GM, and the claim he's taken over Wall Street is total bullshit. Besides, that was Bush & Paulson's baby.

But, what else can you expect from a guy who excoriates political dynasties, yet voted for George Bush and George W. Bush, twice?

1. If they didn't have enough evidence, yes.
2. If they didn't have enough evidence, yes.
3. It doesn't bother me, until and unless they embrace totalitarianism.

Good thing the dems didn't put as much stock in bad spelling with JFK was president as they do now with a TV show host. JFK was a bad speller, too.

Unbelievable the nit pickiness the left goes to to degrade a person.

Go for it y'all. I'm enjoying watching who is idiotic enough to think this is a big deal.

"But, what else can you expect from a guy who excoriates political dynasties, yet voted for George Bush and George W. Bush, twice?"

Perhaps, like me, he didn't vote for Bush twice but voted AGAINST Gore and Kerry??? I'm certainly gonna vote AGAINST the Messiah in 2012 too. I hate not having a choice between two or three reasonable candidates.

"the Messiah "

And the string continues, unbroken.

1. If they didn't have enough evidence, yes.

They had video evidence. It was blatant.

2. If they didn't have enough evidence, yes.

The investigation was still on-going. They just dropped it.

3. It doesn't bother me, until and unless they embrace totalitarianism.

So, you would have been cool with Bush giving Falwell a czar position? I find that hard to believe.

And the string continues, unbroken.

I've seen you repeat this before. Exactly what do you mean "unbroken"? It happens in every thread, once a day, what?

"the Messiah "

And the string continues, unbroken.

#29 | Posted by Danforth

Why does that bother you so much?

The righties aren't the ones who first called Obama the "Messiah". That was another one of the nonthinking libtards, who votes straight-ticket Dumbo, along with yourself.

We knuckle-dragging righties just like irony when we see it. The Obama administration is made up of clowns, retards, tax cheats, and people who have never had a real job in the private sector. Yet they assume, as you do, that because they're Dems, they just know best.

Personally, I think it's like dark comedy. The only institution on planet earth more dysfunctional than an AIG or Citi board room is the group of dumbasses that run Washington. We'll see how that goes.

"JFK was a bad speller, too."

Find a video where JFK took the opposition to task with a misspelled acronym, and I'll skewer him, too.

"Unbelievable the nit pickiness the left goes to to degrade a person."

Unbelievable the deflections the right goes through to minimize a stupid mistake.

"I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."

Ezra Klein:

"Obama's finest speeches do not excite. They do not inform. They don't even really inspire. They elevate. They enmesh you in a grander moment, as if history has stopped flowing passively by, and, just for an instant, contracted around you, made you aware of its presence, and your role in it. He is not the Word made flesh, but the triumph of word over flesh, over color, over despair.?

Chris Matthews:

"This is bigger than Kennedy. Obama comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the new testament."

"the Messiah "

And the string continues, unbroken.

#29 | Posted by Danforth

Why does that bother you so much?

It's certainliy several orders of magnitude above "chimpy" on the food chain.

"The righties aren't the ones who first called Obama the "Messiah""

True. But the last 100,000 times it's come from the right.

"who votes straight-ticket Dumbo, along with yourself. "

Why lie? I voted for both Dems and Republicans last time. I've only pulled a straight-party ticket twice in my life: during the impeachment bullshit, and in 2006, to get the worst governance of my life out of power.

"The Obama administration is made up of clowns, retards, tax cheats, and people who have never had a real job in the private sector."

Which is a damn sight better than morons, torturers, thieves, and people who destroyed businesses in the private sector. I'd say things are looking up!

"Personally, I think it's like dark comedy."

I'm sure anyone who was yelling "KEEP SELLING" when the Dow was at 7000 or 6600 would see it that way.

When people like Danforth--who pretend, but aren't, "moderate"--start taking these douchebags to task for portraying Obama as some kind of heaven-sent gift to us unwashed, they can start complaining about Obamessiah references. Until they, they should realize that the problem is on their side, as usual.

Find a video where JFK took the opposition to task with a misspelled acronym, and I'll skewer him, too.

Weak, danforth. I probably can't find one of Thomas Edison either. He was a bad speller.

Funny thing is, no one even knows if Beck is a bad speller. I've misspelled words that I know how to spell. Sometimes I type "teh" instead of "the". Am I a bad speller. Sometimes when I write I make a mental typo that I would catch on proofreading. Does that mean if I didn't proofread I am a bad speller?

As I said -- tempest in a teapot. carry on with it.

"When people like Danforth--who pretend, but aren't, "moderate""

Funny, coming from someone just to the right of Atilla the Hun.

"start taking these douchebags to task for portraying Obama as some kind of heaven-sent gift to us unwashed"

I didn't take RW pundits to task for worshipping at the altar of George W. Bush, why should I embrace hypocrisy and do it to the other side?

"they can start complaining about Obamessiah references. "

Messiah away. Just realize most of us "moderates" never thought he was anything but a politician. My posts during the campaign said exactly as much.

"My job is to be so persuasive that if there's anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vote for, that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama"

Barack Obama, Lebanon Opera House, New Hampshire. January 7, 2008.

B-b-b-b-but they didn't use messiah language. Asshole.

We should all at least thank Danforth for showing up this morning. Most of his libbie pals are prostrating themselves in front of the TV, weeping over the demise of Edward Kennedy.

Not a lot of libbies on the DR today. Still in mourning, I suppose.

Oh wait, I forgot--isn't Obama supposed to be speaking at the funeral? I guess they'll come back after that Orwellian experience. Can't miss that.

"Weak, danforth. I probably can't find one of Thomas Edison either. "

Huh? That's a direct comparison. And a TE deflection?!? Speaking of weak....

"Funny thing is, no one even knows if Beck is a bad speller."

They do now.

"Does that mean if I didn't proofread I am a bad speller? "

Only if you have a TV show and use the misspelled word as your centerpiece in attacking your opposition. Your comparison of one blog post with an entire segment of a top-rated cable show centering around that word is laughable. Thy guy made a stupid mistake, and should be called on it. Laugh, and continue.

Messiah away. Just realize most of us "moderates" never thought he was anything but a politician.

Which was NOT your point during the last round of messiah arguments.

Your position, at least as I understood it, was the messiah-tag was a rightwing conconction that had NO basis in reality - that quotes like the ones RiR just produced didn't happen, and that 99.9% of his support was rational with no overhype whatsoever.

I'm sure anyone who was yelling "KEEP SELLING" when the Dow was at 7000 or 6600 would see it that way.

I said that at 11800 also. And we're up 38% on the year, having shifted our strategy to writing deep in the money covered calls on twenty positions a month.

Are you up 38% on the year? If so, how? I've posted repeatedly that I'm willing to go offsite and post actual returns and statements, in return for a sizeable wager that I'm not lying. How much are your portfolios up this year? How about last year?

I remember how pissed off you pretended to be when Bush went over $600 billion in deficit spending. How do you feel about $10 trillion in 9 years? Pretty pissed? LMAO. You're funny. You'll even give Obama control over your healthcare, by virtue of his party registration.

Tool.

"Your position, at least as I understood it, was the messiah-tag was a rightwing conconction that had NO basis in reality"

You understand it wrong. My position was, despite the quotes, it was righties who continually made the leap to the word Messiah.

And continue to this day.

Thy guy made a stupid mistake, and should be called on it.

You are actually correct on this - first time today ;-)

It's one thing to make a typo on a blog, or in an email. But those in the media are presenting their words to an audience. They have an obligation to get the simple things right; like proper spelling. Beck, and his editors, are assclowns for not catching this mistake. To make matters worse, this mistake is somewhat drowning out the argument that he was trying to make. Well, too bad. This was easily avoidable.

Funny, coming from someone just to the right of Atilla the Hun.
* * * *

I know that's an overused cliche by the lefties, but what exactly were the politics of Attila the Hun? (By the way, you misspelled his name, since we're on the subject.)
I find it amusing that I as a small-government, get Washington-out-of-everything conservative, that all the great genocidal maniacs in recent history have the word "Socialist" in the party name.
But party on.

You understand it wrong. My position was, despite the quotes, it was righties who continually made the leap to the word Messiah.

Given the ridiculous and undeserved adulation, do you really think such a sarcastic caricature was off-base?

And continue to this day.

I'll cede this one to you. While the blind partisanship still exists (as is always the case in politics) the hero-worship has worn off.

Putting it another way - during the campaign, the messiah-tag was accurate. Today, not so much.

I guess they'll come back after that Orwellian experience.

Pity you never managed to negotiate safe passage back to a reality-based existence after your Orwellian experience. Oh, wait a sec. Did I say "after your Orwellian experience"? I did. Sorry. Let me get out the virtual eraser...change that...and that...and that...and, okay, ready to go: "Too bad you never managed to negoatiate safe passage back to a reality-based existence, what with your ongoing Orwellian experience and all."

"I said that at 11800 also."

So? You also said it at 7000.

"Are you up 38% on the year? "

No, low 20s.

"How about last year?"

I was down much, much less than the market.

"I remember how pissed off you pretended to be when Bush went over $600 billion in deficit spending."

No pretense. I was pissed off. You, however, were cheerleading.

"How do you feel about $10 trillion in 9 years? Pretty pissed?"

VERY pissed. And I've called it overspending since day one, and listed many places where I disagree, from GM, to Cash for Clunkers, to the $8000 first-time home buyers' credit, to the too-large size of the stimulus.

"LMAO. You're funny. You'll even give Obama control over your healthcare, by virtue of his party registration."

No, I would have given it to McCain as well. We need to do something to stem medical inflation, and leaving it to the insurance companies has proven not to work. And if it still consumes 17% of our GDP, or more, I'll call it a failure, regardless of the letter after the name. Therein lies the difference.

You're right. Therein lies the difference. I don't know anything about your personal life, but if you believe that Washington can make better decisions with your life, your health, and your money than you can, there's nothing else to discuss. You need them, and I don't.

"Keep your laws off my body!" How quaint it seems, now.

Danforth,

Off-topic:

I recently got XM and while running errands earlier this week I flipped over to 'Ameriright'. The host was harping on the fact that our income tax system isn't really progressive when we look at the payroll tax. It almost sounded as if he was taking dictation from you.

If it wasn't for the fact that much of his other opinions were different from your here, I would have thought that you were actually running the broadcast.

"but what exactly were the politics of Attila the Hun?"

My point was from your vantage, no one is "moderate". Support of Israel, Belief in a strong military, Fiscal sanity...all "lefty" positions, from anyone occupying a perch that far-right.

Cash for clukers?

A lot of dealerships in Michigan are in serious trouble over that program. They fronted the money and are now having difficulty collecting from the feds. The weaker ones will go under over this.

By the way, "Atilla" and "Attila" are interchangeable. Pssst: The Huns were nonliterate, so there's no "correct" or "incorrect" way to spell that goon's name.

The CBPP reports three-fourths of taxpayers pay more in payroll taxes than they do in income taxes.

Didn't know that, actually. See? A doctorate in history might be worth something after all.

Maybe that's why there are so many spellings to Mohammad--the Islamic world is primarily non literate too. There are more books translated from English to Spanish ever year, than have been translated into Arabic for the past thousand years.

"but if you believe that Washington can make better decisions with your life, your health, and your money than you can, there's nothing else to discuss"

I don't believe that, and it isn't (or shouldn't be) the point of health care reform. We've got to find some way to stem medical inflation, particularly as the baby boomers retire. Insurance companies have proven they're part of the problem: quadrupling profits while shedding the ones who need it the most?!?

And remember after 9/11 when the health rates spiked? (I do, I was serving on a health committee, and we all had to pick our jaws off the floor.) And why did they need that big jump? Medical costs through the roof? NO. Hospital spending increased dramatically? NO. Doctors & staff mega-raises? NO. So why? Well, I know you know:

They couldn't get the guaranteed returns from the banks to pay out their annuity contracts.

We've got to find some way to stem medical inflation, particularly as the baby boomers retire.

Agreed 100%.

I have posted on several occasions in the past the advantages of moving toward the HSA model (catastrophic coverage with low co-pay/free annual well visit with the majority of health transactions paid-for by cash).

What say you, Mr. Wilkow?

"Maybe that's why there are so many spellings to Mohammad--the Islamic world is primarily non literate too."

Really? You got the figures on that? Bearing in mind, of course, that "nonliterate" is not the same as "illiterate."

I think what you'll find with, say, Arabic names is that you're working with a different alphabet so you're moving sounds around, looking for equivalants, and so you end up with "Qaddafi," "Khaddafi," and "Gadhafi," etc. Arab culture is literate (not nonliterate) and while there's illiteracy (as there is in the US) I think if you checked into it you might find literacy rates higher than you suspect.

How many different variations of the same basic language are spoken among the middle east.

Arabic
Farsi
Dari
Uzbeckstanian
etc.

I'd be willing to bet the Druse have their own 'unique' dialect.

Seriously, how many different forms of mucka does it take to say the following:

"Jews are apes and pigs."
"Down with ALL infidels."
"I can't wait to rape the shit out of 77 virgins (or is it 72 - I can't remember) after I take a keg of explosive and subdide it. The first division I strap to my body, along with as much ball-bearings as my under-fed mountain-roaming ass can support, and then set this shit off trying to kill as many civilians as possible. Of course, the other parcel of explosive is laid in advanve and is detonated 25 minutes after I blow myself up - it is intended to kill rescue workers as they arrive at the blast scene."

Seriously, all of these differnt 'languages' sound the same when coughing and hacking out this hateful bullshit.

"I have posted on several occasions in the past the advantages of moving toward the HSA model (catastrophic coverage with low co-pay/free annual well visit with the majority of health transactions paid-for by cash). What say you, Mr. Wilkow?"

I opined on that wisdom about a half-year after they came out, in a national meeting where folks looked at me like I had just landed from Mars. I've done several informational films on HSAs, as both the Narrator, and the Technical Advisor. The first time, I found a half-dozen errors, and told my wife -- to her horror -- that I would insist on correcting them in the script, or I would refuse to do the shoot. They responded by thanking me profusely, and insisted I continue correcting anything I saw fit. By the third or fourth shoot, I arrived on set and went directly to the tele-prompter to change what I needed.

I agree, they would be a sensible model. One of the problems, though, is the same one as today: people don't get preventative care because of the cost. An HSA, combined with free wellness care might be a workable compromise. But that still leaves the problem of the populace at the mercy of the insurance companies.

Again, THE BIG PROBLEM is stemming medical inflation. Currently, 40% of the insured are on a single-payer, government plan (Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Indian Affairs, Gov't Employees), Government is on the hook for too much to let medical inflation run away. And left to its own, it most certainly will. Without some answer, most Americans will be priced out of the market within a generation.

I opined on that wisdom about a half-year after they came out, in a national meeting where folks looked at me like I had just landed from Mars

Yeah, I saw that comment during the last round of this.

It's not utopia, but, given all of the currently proposed options, it makes the most sense IMO.

Messiah like does not equal Messiah.

Are there idiots who actually think Obama is the Messiah?

Possibly a handful of lunatics.

Compare that group to the rtarded fundy set who actually believe that Obama is the anti-Christ.

Spud imagines the fundies would outnumber the lefty lunatics by a significant margin.

Spud recalls seeing graffitti a number of years back that declared that "Jeff Beck is God"

Spud don't think the folk wot spray-painted that actually thought that Jeff Beck *was* God just a REALLY good guitar player.

Bit of hyperbole, really.

Speaking of folk anmed Beck...

/Yes, nice segueway, ty fer noticing.

Glenn Beck's attempt to keep the Obama administration's feet to the fire as many on the right percieve it is, in the main, mindless, petty, overly-conflated, fear-mongering at its worst.

Served up with a heaping helping of crazy and a side dish of FAIL.

He's dumbing down a nation that really can't afford the collective IQ points.

The only thing crazier that Beckie is anyone who actually takes his rants seriously.

Be Well.

He is definitely besmirching the name Beck.

"He is definitely besmirching the name Beck."

Not to mention his beer.

Danforth-
But you don't understand! Obama is appointing people to "czar positions"!!

"Obama is appointing people to "czar positions"!!"

Does that mean he's a Marxist? Or would that be a communist? A socialist? How about a fascist? Is it a nihilist? A zealist?? A realist??? Oh...where, oh where is that "-IST of the Day" guide I got in the mail from the RNC???

Danforth-
No! He is an OLIGARH!

"No! He is an OLIGARH!"

I keep forgetting.

What day is that? Saturday?

(Or would it be Saturda?)

For the record, the Right wasn't the ones that made the leap to Messiah first. A quick google search would have revealed to anyone that cared to fact check that it was Louis Farrakhan that first made the reference:

lmgtfy.com

Louis Farrakhan calls OBAMA Messiah ...
www.youtube.com

Who gives a squishy shit if the Right continues to call him that and the Left is tired of it? As I see it they have ZERO room to complain. I have never called Obama "the Messiah", but after the last 8 years of constantly hearing "chimpy" and "shrub" from the Left (among other names) I have absolutely no sympathy for their whining.

And Obama thinks there are 57 states. So what is your point.

How many sponsors have shit canned their ads on his show? 36? I remember hearing about how all of you were going to cancel your Geico policy, but now that it's up to 36 major companies how are you silly bastards still managing to buy anything?

Excerpt from a Nov. 2005 interview in the East Bay Express:

Jones had planned to move to Washington, DC, and had already landed a job and an apartment there. But in jail, he said, "I met all these young radical people of color -- I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.'" Although he already had a plane ticket, he decided to stay in San Francisco. "I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary." In the months that followed, he let go of any lingering thoughts that he might fit in with the status quo. "I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th," he said. "By August, I was a communist." In 1994, the young activists formed a socialist collective, Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM, which held study groups on the theories of Marx and Lenin and dreamed of a multiracial socialist utopia. They protested police brutality and got arrested for crashing through police barricades. In 1996, Jones decided to launch his own operation, which he named the Ella Baker Center after an unsung hero of the civil-rights movement.

Let's see how much power he can consolidate, without any checks or balances, before we become even remotely concerned.
