Like the Robber Barons of the 20th century, Al Gore is poised to become the first climate billionaire of the 21st century.

Sorry, but it isn't Capitalism when you are getting governments to force people to support an industry. Nice try, but you get an "F" in Economics 101. Better luck next semester.

Is succeeding at carbon credits capitalism or something else?

Sounds like some Pubs are mad because he's brought so much attention to climate change. Lets be aware that the moon is moving away from the earth more each year and ultimately this will cause the earth to loose its 23.5 degree rotation and will cause it to wobble. Climate change is inevitable.

I would say it is something else since without a government creating the industry there would be no industry. Al Gore basically only gets his customers by having the government give him a captive customer base.

Econ 101 example. I am the inventor and creator of widgets. Nobody sees a need for them and I don't have any customers. So instead I launch a massive campaign with the government with my hand picked data and flashy presentation to show how the world is doomed if people don't buy widgets. The government then passes a law that says everyone must have a widget. My business booms simply because people have no choice but to buy my product.

Was that capitalism? Nope, that was force.

Hardly. What people are mad about is his obvious hypocrisy and blatant lying simply to make a buck all under the guise of "I must save you all".

Yes, but at an increase of 3.8 centimeters per year, I don't think the climate change from that will be very significant in the next several thousand years.

Al Gore is a buffoon, and anyone who takes him seriously is a dumbass.
