Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

President Barack Obama has welcomed the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan in a video address posted on the White House web site. Obama said U.S. efforts to end the war in Iraq and to isolate extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan is in keeping with America's responsibility to build a more secure world. He said that also includes U.S. support for a two-state solution recognizing the rights of Israelis and Palestinians. "All of these efforts are part of America's commitment to engage Muslims and Muslim-majority nations on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect," Obama said.

Ramadan Kareem From the White House

Shove it, Obama. Don't ruin Ramzan for us.

The best thing about Ramzaan is that the usual bastards keep a low profile for one month, pretending to be good guys.

Ramadan

Aaah! The Obama White House media charm offensive against Arabs continues. Good luck to President O. in conducting that. Methinks his forays in Arab town are going well.

Kareem

Use of Arabic; definitely gunning for Arab hearts and minds. No Problem. The Pakistanis and Persians don't begrudge him his victory amongst the Ar'b. Both of us shall continue to watch him like a hawk.

Methinks his forays in Arab town are going well.

Meh... whatever. Not invading a country near Arab country and not using apocalyptic rhetoric has set him far and above his predecessor. The bit of his speech that I read was fairly generic and Obama-esque. Basically making an appeal for unity, peace, chocolate chip cookies and everything good. "Ramadan kareem" came from an Arab staff member, I believe. Don't read too much into the choice of language. I doubt they planned it that extensively.

The Pakistanis and Persians don't begrudge him his victory amongst the Ar'b.

Well he did acknowledge Norooz... but yeah his overtures are mainly directed at Arab countries. His choice of what greeting to use here is not significant... but you're correct in your assessment of his policies. Oil, military bases, and Israel explain his focus on Arab countries.

Anyway, he's wasting his time with a hopeless (but politically juicy) domestic battle over health care right now, so there is little media coverage of whatever is going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan on the orders of the Obama administration.

so there is little media coverage of whatever is going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Of course there is going to be little coverage on Afghanistan now that the taliban have stepped up their game a notch and are giving NATO a very hard time.

As for Pakistan... whatever nonsense Obama planned for Pakistan has been stopped before it could even start.

The best thing about Ramzaan is that the usual bastards keep a low profile for one month, pretending to be good guys.

Yours sounds like a more persian pronunciation? Anyway, the usual bastards in your neck of the woods will return to being bastards shortly, and ours never really stop. Enjoy your break, though.

I fasted for a week or so a couple years ago... a muslim friend of mine bet me I couldn't. I won the bet but it made my usual run considerably more difficult. I don't know how muslim athletes do it. I will enjoy eating during the day and having the occasional "afternoon delight" if you catch my drift. Whatever you say in Urdu to wish someone well during Ramadan... well here's to you.

As for Pakistan... whatever nonsense Obama planned for Pakistan has been stopped before it could even start.

Uh, he had a plan? Everything sounded generic when he spoke.

Isn't Ramadan someone who works here?

Yours sounds like a more persian pronunciation?

It's the one I've heard all my life. I have no idea what "rama-dhan" is. All I know of is "Ramzaan".

It might be Persian.... Urdu has Persian roots (as well as Sanskrit).

I fasted for a week or so a couple years ago... a muslim friend of mine bet me I couldn't. I won the bet but it made my usual run considerably more difficult.

I have to take karate classes during fasting... food is not a problem.. thirst can be.

After the third week, I start getting hungry too and tired of it. LOL

Whatever you say in Urdu to wish someone well during Ramadan... well here's to you.

Thanks.

Uh, he had a plan?

That's an Obama trick... everything sounds vague so he can back out of it later.

Yeah he had a plan.

That's an Obama trick... everything sounds vague so he can back out of it later.

You're giving him too much credit if you think he invented it... an old trick with a new practicioner.

I sort of like the guy and would certainly like to believe what he says, but he's a politician at heart.

Yeah he had a plan.

No offense, but that sounds more than just a little paranoid. What was his plan?

I would die if I could not drink during training, Class starts at 7 pm Having to go through 60-90 mins with no water is tough.

You're giving him too much credit if you think he invented it

No, I know he hasn't invented it. It's an old lawyer trick.

If there is anyone I know well, it's lawyers.

I have a really nice co-worker who is from Pakistan. He acts nothing like you Tosser. He has invited me to his home for dinner and has invited me to his mosque. If you were the only Pakistani I had ever met I would get the wrong impression about your country.

No offense, but that sounds more than just a little paranoid. What was his plan?

Paranoid or not, what counts is I believe he did and the people who run this country, believed he did, and we acted counter to that plan.

Last time Holbrook was here, he was chewing gum trying to pretend nothing had gone wrong. LOL (yes really)

He has invited me to his home for dinner and has invited me to his mosque.

He will change his mind when he sees you mooching from his fridge.

You are a moocher.

Paranoid or not, what counts is I believe he did and the people who run this country, believed he did, and we acted counter to that plan.

So what was the plan and what did you do to counter it?

So what was the plan and what did you do to counter it?

Da Plan was the plan of plans and we planned around that plan.

C'mon, what was Obama's plan? I'm seriously curious

He will change his mind when he sees you mooching from his fridge.

You are a moocher.

I am a very generous man. I would happily bring a dish made of Halal meats.

What if Da Plan is just part of our plan since we planned on you planning to plan around the plan that we planned to make you believing we were planning?

C'mon, what was Obama's plan?

Chemtrails?

I am a very generous man.

You said once that you hide a large part of your income to avoid paying child support.

That's your version of generosity? Deny your child child support?

C'mon, what was Obama's plan? I'm seriously curious

The biggest clue to what he was planning was given in the new name of his strategy which he called "Af-Pak".

That meant he wanted Pakistan to be an American theater of war operations (boots on the ground)... Af-Pak means, you are saying as far as your troops are concerned Afghanistan battleground is the same as Pakistani territory.

Notice how the "Af-Pak" label has been quickly removed. LOL

The game was to support the Swat "taliban".. who weren't taliban at all... with American weapons and money (both of which we caught) to make trouble inside Pakistan so the Americans could come in "to help".

When I ask any American "do you know what your troops are doing in Afghanistan?", I get the usual nonsense about "building democracy" and "making sure Afghanistan never attacks the US again"..

Both answers are nonsense if you think about it. Afghanistan never attacked the US. The taliban didn't know what O'Binbin was doing. They have zero resources. It was 19 rich Arabs, most from Saudi Arabia, who did 9-11... LOL

Saudi Arabia attacked USA, would be more accurate thing to say than Afghanistan attacked USA. LOL

As for building democracy in Afghanistan... you should first get rid of Karzai (a drug lord) before you talk of "democracy". LOL

What if Da Plan is just part of our plan since we planned on you planning to plan around the plan that we planned to make you believing we were planning?

That was tried but we saw that coming as well.

When it comes to dirty tricks NOBODY beats Pakistan. NOBODY! If the US tries it's tricks, it will only fail.

So now what? Now that there is a stalemate, the ONLY thing you and Pakistan can do, is cooperate with each other, like they should have done all along. LOL

I have figured out what Obama is.

He is a guy who tries to please everyone and will end up pleasing nobody.

I am a very generous man. I would happily bring a dish made of Halal meats.

Goatee saw you coming from miles away and refused to meet you. "the moocher is coming" is what he must have thought.

Keep your halal meatballs. Shove them up your bum for all I care.

If you purchase/cook meatballs with money that could have gone to feed your child... that is no way "halal".

The more I find out about you, the more of a bastard I realize you are.

He is a guy who tries to please everyone...

This is typical Democratic behavior. This isn't a partisan jab -- it's the truth. They nobly try to please everyone and make sure that everyone is taken care of while ignoring the fact that it is an impossibility

Ramzaan

Thats the way we say it in Pak-ville.
Sadly we have some Arab wannabe's who go all Ramadan with their guttural throats on us.
Tossee here is

Dirty Tricks
I would put the Indians close by in terms of capacity. But from what I can see of them in Canada, and more importantly over the last eight years as Musharraf made kissy face with them, they won't go dirty on us if we leave them alone. Especially the Galli Kay Kuttay from South India who have no idea of Sindhi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Baluch or Pathan culture. Or even hate the UP's culture on a regular basis.

But yeah - the Indians prefer not to use dirty tricks whereas we sadly use it as Standard Operating Procedure.

About Ramzaan versus the annoying Ramadan I wanted to say Tossee here is old enough to remember when it started being introduced as a new fashion, and people just giggled at it.

That's your version of generosity? Deny your child child support?

#21 | Posted by goatman

Nobody is perfect and I no longer commit fraud to deny my son child support.

But yeah - the Indians prefer not to use dirty tricks whereas we sadly use it as Standard Operating Procedure.

I think you are forgetting how they are damming our rivers in Kashmir and trying to deprive us of our fresh water resources.

You are also forgetting people like Sarabjeet Singh on death row in Pakistan... caught planting bombs.

You are also forgetting how Indian weapons were found with the Swat "taliban" (as well as American stuff) and how we exposed pics of dead "taliban" who were uncircumcised (did you see those pics?). Short people... Gurkhas pretending to be tall Pathans. LOL

No.. they start it.... we finish it.

You might be describing the ordinary Indian you meet in the street in Canada. Trust me, the people who are running India... they think on a different level.

About Ramzaan versus the annoying Ramadan I wanted to say Tossee here is old enough to remember when it started being introduced as a new fashion, and people just giggled at it.

It's just stupid.... "rama-dhan"... who talks like that? LOL

If Obama sez "Rama-Dhan" instead of Ramzaan, we can only think he is being insincere since he doesn't even know the proper pronunciation.

And yes, I HATE guttural Arabic accents.

There are also stupid people (usually British-Pakistanis) who can't even say Azaan correctly, calling it "Adhan". LOL

And then there is Zikir being called "Dhiker"... hahahahahahahaha

I don't know why some people do that?

@ the Goatster - Nah; you're too hard on the O. man. He's aiming for the Arabs, and he's hitting the mark. Its the Persians, Afghans and Pakistanis who he can't fit a proper leash around. And his pointman in Af-Pak (Richard Holbrooke) is constantly defensive, feels harassed and always worried.

We're nothing but smiles and chocolates for poor Mr Holbrooke, and he still sweats bullets. Just look at his mugshot here!:

tinyurl.com

And the way we've quagmired him LMAO! Poor poor Holbrooke! We're apparently having a debate over a mayoral system that Musharraf in a kinda dictatorial way had implemented throughout the country.
The old political parties are back and they don't like power vested at the city level, prefering it remain in their hands at the provincial (state) and federal level. Anyway, the country seems to be having a "debate" over whether this system should stay or go. Tosser can tell you more.

Now what is the supreme chancellor for the Af-Pak theatre of war, a man who should be Viceroy in waiting doing getting sucked into deciding whether cities should have mayors or just representatives in provincial/federal parliaments???

Shouldn't he be butting into military strategy for Waziristan, or at the least Swat? No, sir. We've got him distracted, out of his depth and kept happy and fed in the capital whilst the real politicians and generals decide matters of war and peace.

Should I spell it out for you any further?

If you purchase/cook meatballs with money that could have gone to feed your child... that is no way "halal".

Um I'm no Islamic scholar but I don't think you have a point... unless he doesn't have money to feed his child and make a gesture of kindness to a friend at the same time.

I take it you've rubbed eachother the wrong way in the past or something... that was wierd.

What shall we do about the river dams?

Thats one thing I can't really think of a good end game for.
______________________________ ______________________________

And we-ll, lets just say that its the Pakistani's here who demonstrate some street smarts. I think its necessary at times.
The Indians here, like the Canadians, just like to follow a straight line. God Bless'em all for keeping life simple for it.

unless he doesn't have money to feed his child and make a gesture of kindness to a friend at the same time.

That wasn't how it came down. Ratsa was once boasting that he hid a large part of his income from the courts to avoid paying child support.

We've got him distracted, out of his depth and kept happy and fed in the capital whilst the real politicians and generals decide matters of war and peace.

LOL... YS you hit the nail on the head.

Holbrooke's mandate is to "handle" the war in Afghanistan on a diplomatic level... a very powerful mandate.

WHAT THE HELL is he doing worrying about the local-Gov system in our small towns? LOL

We have got him involved in the stupidest kind of town-politics ever. LOL. Classic!

unless he doesn't have money to feed his child

You read it right totally.

He doesn't have any money... he is taking a loan of $1400 to pay a company to hire him!

Getting to a funnier point Tosser:

How did you find Holbrooke meeting Mustafa Khudai and then proceeding to have "praised him for the rapid pace of development in Karachi during the past four years."

LMFAO

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What shall we do about the river dams?

Thats one thing I can't really think of a good end game for.

A few months ago, the answer was given to us.

How did you find Holbrooke meeting Mustafa Khudai and then proceeding to have "praised him for the rapid pace of development in Karachi during the past four years."

That was stupidest thing I have seen in a long long time. LOL

Holbrooke is being kept busy with nonsense issues. He goes along with it since he doesn't have a choice and it looks good if he is heard from occasionally.

A few months ago, the answer was given to us

That doesn't sound excessively reassuring.

Please do point in the appropriate URL direction.

Or perhaps the whisper of an advanced google search...

He doesn't have any money... he is taking a loan of $1400 to pay a company to hire him!

Is this true or a joke? I can't imagine paying someone to hire me.

And you are right... he doesn't want to be here... Obama keeps sending him here to do "something"... but it is out of his hands.

Look at his body language. Ge really doesn't want to be here. LOL

I remember this... "no more questions! no more questions!" hahahahahahaha

@ Goatman

Its True.

@ Tosser

Your talk of rivers....is interesting. A link mayhaps?

Please do point in the appropriate URL direction.

I read it in the paper so I don't have a URL right now.

It was a statement by China... given right after the Indian statement that they "will make over 20 dams and teach Pakistan a lesson".

The Chinese statement was, "China intends to dam all the rivers coming out of the Tibetan plateau to turn it's western desert green."

Where will India get their water from then? LOL

That would be the end of India.

The Indian statements stopped.

Is this true or a joke?

Not a joke. Twinpac told us.

What if we paid/peruaded China to initiate a joint-project inside China to dam the rivers flowing into Kashmir and change their direction?

Who do these Indians think they are playing with? LOL

China is the heart of Asia.. they are on top of the Asian pecking order.

They can take most of Asia's water away. And they have the proven engineering skills to do just that.

Statement by China

Sometimes did wonder about whether Indian rivers could be dammed up in the Tibetan Plateau.

Interesting indeed.

Are Gwynne Dyer's books available in Pakistan officially? Because I have one by him and I thought you could IRC it.

Obama, Af-Pak,and Holbrooke

This little demonstration was just to tell you dear, dear Americans that Obama is a smart and capable man. But the obstacles he is unable to surmount are major US Corporations, China, India, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Russia. All of them are going waiting him out. They have time and he doesn't. Maybe just about every thing else (possibly even Israel) is within this mans capacity to control.

The only Dyer I could find on IRC was a guy who wrote a book on vampires.

Goat I want to take a class to get certified to work on solar panels. Not to hire me.

Entry-Level Solar PV Certification Program

Sometimes did wonder about whether Indian rivers could be dammed up in the Tibetan Plateau.

The Chinese said very clearly that they can be.

The timing of the statement left no room for doubt that they were telling India to behave.

India's sudden silence meant the message was understood.

Tosser don't believe everything twinpac says. She isn't as smart as she thinks she is.

Goat I want to take a class to get certified to work on solar panels.

Where he will "learn" by working. On the job training... which this moron paid for. LOL

The company get a sap who works as a gofer (who paid them too).

Damming rivers on the tibetan plateau in order to derive downstream users water can only work for so long. Once the resevoir basin is full, the water has to go somewhere. I don't know the topology of the plateau -- can the water be diverted?

Tosser don't believe everything twinpac says.

Should I believe you instead? A crook who steals from his child?

She isn't as smart as she thinks she is.

I have not seen her being stupid.

I have seen you being stupid.

Case closed.

can the water be diverted?

Yes.

To where? A different watershed?

A different watershed

One that exits into a different country for one.

To where? A different watershed?

They have more than one option.. they can store it, they can use it, they can give enough to Pakistan to keep the Indus flowing while using everything else to make western China green.

I believe they have already started.

In a few decades they will be in a position to shut off anyone's water if someone dares to go to war against them as India threatens to do now and then.

All the billions of dollars India spent on a single dam in Kashmir will go to waste as that dam dries up and the water come through an alternate route into Pakistan. LOL

Already, according to experts, India has lost 45% of it's land. Nothing grows there.

One that exits into a different country for one.

Not being familiar with the topology of the Tibetan plateau, I wasn't sure if this was doable or not. It sounds like it is.

I wasn't sure if this was doable or not. It sounds like it is.

It's a matter of engineering potential. The 3-Gorges Dam would be impossible for most people, yet China made THAT possible.

Their massive potential for infrastructure work and making mega-projects is unmatched.

Tosser, lets not climb that high on China's dick.

Goatman, are you Seriously the smartest American here?

Tosser don't believe everything twinpac says.

Ratsa, why are so many of your posts, "Don't believe what twinpac says", "Don't believe what Danforth says", "Don't believe what ________ says"? Is there a vast conspiracy against you or something?

Goatman, are you Seriously the smartest American here?

Far, far from it.

I'm not being rude or anything Mr Goatster, but seriously, aren't you interested for one second in the political potential for such a feat of engineering and more enamoured with the Popular Mechanix angle of can or can it not be done?

We're not going to bring it up if it can't be done sir. We are interested though, in the power politics of it all. Mayber we're the naive ones for just discussing this, whilst the clever yankees, just sit and take notes, waiting for some clever application for this all.

It's a matter of engineering potential. The 3-Gorges Dam would be impossible for most people, yet China made THAT possible.

Three Gorges is far from proving itself. I was reading an article in NatGeo a few years ago that even as it was being built the Chinese Engineers still haven't solved the silt problem. Apparently the Yangtze river is heavily silted.

An interesting thing about that project I read in the same article -- so much of the earth's mass (in the form of water of course) is being moved that the angular momentum of it will actually cause the earth to spin slightly, but measurably faster on its axis.

Tosser you know nothing imbecile. I have tried to explain this to you multiple times. I don't care what you think. Other people who I know and trust say the training is a good investment. Solar panel installation and repair will soon be big business in this country. 1400 dollars will be a small investment towards my future.

Goat there are a lot of deceptive people on this board that insist on telling lies about me. Saying things like I make 10.91 an hour or hat I don't work in the electronics field and all kinds of other bullshit. I personally would like to put this to rest. I have offered to meet you among others. I would gladly bring my college degree, paycheck stub and any other information needed to prove I am not the person these liars say I am.

#74 -- I'm far more enamored with technology and engineering than politics

Tosser, lets not climb that high on China's dick.

Nobody is climbing on China's dick. LOL

The Chinese do what they do for themselves only. They never helped us out unless we helped them out.

Which is why I suggested a joint-project.

Why do you think there is this conspiracy against you, ratsa? I have to confess, I hear a lot of conspiratal BS on this forum, but you are the only one who feels there is one against himself.

"Goat there are a lot of deceptive people on this board that insist on telling lies about me. "

Well, here's your chance to put that to rest by telling the truth. Did you ever sign on to Nanc's blog, claiming to be "Danforth" from "the Retort"?

Siltation

Oh yes, you're right about that. Siltation is a serious problem.....but the thing is I stopped reading National Geographic a bit of some time ago cause...well...I grew up.

Siltation is definitely a problem, and dams aren't necessarliy the most effecient way to do irrigation. But the thing about them is that they are such a massive projection of power that they bend the countryside to the capitals whim. All that money and construction gets you rural cred. And power. So when a new country is starting off with twetieth century tech, like China, India and Pakistan it starts off with dams. Even the US did back in the thrities.

Nobody does dams any more unless its absolutely necessary. And the purpose of the Three Gorges Dam seems partially national prestige on China's part. Which is ok, if they can handle it, and the 3Gorges project itself.

Three Gorges is far from proving itself. I was reading an article in NatGeo a few years ago that even as it was being built the Chinese Engineers still haven't solved the silt problem. Apparently the Yangtze river is heavily silted.

That is the fate of all large dams, the silt problem.

What was at one time the largest earth filled dam in the world... Tarbela in Pakistan... had a huge silting problem.. still does. But we plant trees all along it's source and the life has been extended another 50 years. By then we'll think of something else.

As for 3-Gorges... the point is, it can be built. If it that can be built, anything can be built.

Why do you think there is this conspiracy against you, ratsa? I have to confess, I hear a lot of conspiratal BS on this forum, but you are the only one who feels there is one against himself.

I see people lying about me all the time. Distorting the truth. The lies even extend beyond this blog. People have claimed I have gone on other blogs and misrepresented myself as another person.

Well, here's your chance to put that to rest by telling the truth. Did you ever sign on to Nanc's blog, claiming to be "Danforth" from "the Retort"?

Everyone here is a lair except Jackass. LOL

but you are the only one who feels there is one against himself.

That is because a liar forgets what lies he told yesterday and then he trips up.

No there are honest people Tosser. You aren't one of them though. Twinpac isn't either. I only speak the truth. I am honest to a fault.

.....but the thing is I stopped reading National Geographic a bit of some time ago cause...well...I grew up.

You going through the natural aging process does not negate the veracity of its content.

Anyone wondering if Jackass is a pathological liar has their answer.

"I only speak the truth. I am honest to a fault."

Patho-fucking-logical.

I see people lying about me all the time. Distorting the truth. The lies even extend beyond this blog. People have claimed I have gone on other blogs and misrepresented myself as another person.

I know. You've said that. You still didn't answer my question.

Why do you think there is this conspiracy of lies against you?

I am honest to a fault.

How can you say that and also say you lie about your income? You say you cheat people and screw them over whenever possible. You have admitted these things. Then you say you are honest? WTF?

the natural aging process

Do I sound that old?

does not negate veracity of its content

It does, 'cause its laced with American Propaganda. The subtle kind. The kind that doesn't call a spade, a spade, but rather "a counter insurgency opportunity".

Sorry Goatee, but all your American News Magazines have a serious whiff of Pentagon worship. I'm too used to Pakistani newsmagazines which abuse all armies and don't suck up to any. Never the Americans, and especially not the Pakistanis.

No there are honest people Tosser. ... I am honest to a fault.

I still have no idea what you are talking about Danforth.

How can you say that and also say you lie about your income? You say you cheat people and screw them over whenever possible. You have admitted these things. Then you say you are honest? WTF?

I only screw people over that deserve it. Like my lying ex-gf. She would soak me for every last cent if let her.

It does, 'cause its laced with American Propaganda.

Yes. Siltation is a propogandist ploy. LOL

BTW, when I read that article, NG was still fully funded by its members, not advertisers or the American Government. They do take advertisers now, sad to say.

They were always busting me for petty shit trying to hold me down.

They saw you for the creep you are.

I only screw people over that deserve it.

So being honest means screwing people over is OK if you think they deserve it?

You're a loser, ratsa. A true loser.

"I still have no idea what you are talking about Danforth."

Patho-fucking-logical.

Even when faced with his own post, he still barfs up a bald-faced lie.

I only screw people over that deserve it.

You are screwing your son over by withholding child support. What did he do to deserver you screwing him over?

Goat I was paying what I believed to be a fair shared. So I wasn't screwing anybody over.

American Propaganda

Read'em since 2001. Too much propaganda.

And the siltation? You're the one who bought it up.

Lucky lucky you to have read NG when there were no advertisers.

Goat I was paying what I believed to be a fair shared.

Oh. What a lucky boy your son is to have a fair father like you.

People can't stand to see a man like myself getting ahead in society. Same shit happened to me in the military.

Poor ratsa. It must suck to have every one out to get you whatever you do. I wonder why everyone is out to get you, ratsa?

And the siltation? You're the one who bought it up.

And you are the once who brought up a potential bias in the magazine I read about it in.

potential bias

Thats because since I began reading it in the nineties, till I stopped in the mid-2000's, I could easily detect one.

Who put the bop in the bop-shu-bop?

Who put the ram in the Ramadan-a-ding-dong?

Heady questions indeed.

First off, Obama sets the right tone and hits all the right notes in this video clip attempting to reassure Muslims both in America and abroad that America is not and never will be at war with Islam.

Secondly, it's wonderful how far afield this thread has gone.

Seriously luff it when it does that around here.

The water politics stuff was epecially good.

Third, yeah the whole "Peace and Security in both Israel and Palestine" thing is key here.

Be Well.

I wonder why everyone is out to get you, ratsa?

Read'em since 2001.

Thats because since I began reading it in the nineties, till I stopped in the mid-2000's

I can see you you would be confused about potential bias. You are not even sure when you started reading it. LOL

when you started reading it
Late nineties

People realize how inadequate they are. They try to tear me down to make themselves feel better.

Funny stuff, ratsa. No matter where you go, it is YOU that people choose to tear down to make themselves feel better.

I feel better just reading your posts. It's like my dad always used to tell me when I started feeling sorry for myself, "There's always someone worse off than you". As long as you are alive, I know that to be true. LOL

You're pathetic.

I could easily detect one.

I could smell bias in Nat-Geo since always. But only on some topics like when they write about the Mid-East and when they did a piece on the Ottomans.. that kind of thing.

Many fine American magazines have become biased recently... my most favorite.. Popular Mechanics was one of them.

But these things are slight enough for me to ignore them.

American political magazines like Newsweek and Time can be totally biased at times.

If want to see advertisers destroying once great magazines, you only have to look at Reader's Digest (and their ads for pills on every other page)... which is now filing Chapter 11.

Read'em since 2001.

I began reading it in the nineties,

Whatever

Read'em since 2001. Too much propaganda.

Thats the exact line I used. 2001 we start hearing about war.

Then the hints begin to be dropped off various countries needing American military "intervention".

American military "intervention"

Invariably, those countries happen to be...Muslim.

Or more specifically, on oil routes. Or reserves.

I could smell bias in Nat-Geo since always.

The National Geographic society is a very prestigious organization -- one of whose presidents was Alexander Graham Bell. Until a few years ago it was fully member funded. I admit now that they have advertisers, they may have a bias. But until a few years ago, they had no reason to.

American political magazines like Newsweek and Time can be totally biased at times.

At times? How about all the time.

I don't remember where I read or heard it, or even know how true it is, but the claim was made that ~25% of the world's annual production of steel was being used in the construction of the Three Gorges Dam.

I admit now

Goatster, it is the now and present we are tragically speaking off. Advertisers have a tendency to cause these sort of these things to happen.

I just did some quick checking and it seems the claim I made above was false. My bad.

Jay, had you ever heard that the earth's spin was meausurably quicker because of the mass of the water in the resevoir? I had heard that years ago, (I think in NG) and I can't find that on the web, either.

While looking for the quote I cited in post 121, I came across this:

It was hailed as one of the engineering feats of the 20th century. Now the Three Gorges Dam across China's mighty Yangtze River threatens to become an environmental catastrophe.

In an unprecedented admission of blame, Communist Party officials gave a stark warning yesterday of impending disaster in the vast area around the dam if preventive measures are not urgently introduced.

Well, the Chinese are big boys, they'll have to handle it themselves some way or another.

Considering the size, I don't know if tree planting could be enough.

Hopefully the hydroelectrics will remain functional.

No I haven't, but it doesn't seem out of the question, though, given our ever increasing ability to make precise, minute, measurements. I did hear the Indonesian earthquake making a measurable change in Earth's rotation.

Goatman, here's something for you.

Got to go to work now.

Don't worry. Our Cowtower in Chief won't be starving himself for a month. This is just more bullshit.

To the Muslims reading the Retort, Ramadan kareem!

Ramadan kareem abdul jabar

To the Muslims reading the Retort, Ramadan kareem!

Thank you, even though Ramzan Kareem means "the holy/bountiful month of Ramzan" and nothing more.

That is what "Kareem" means.

In the name Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kareem would mean "noble or generous or blessed one", if my understanding of Arabic correct.

So Obama saying "Ramzan Kareem" would make me ask, "Ramzan Kareem What?"

I don't know how was the idiot who translated for him, but whoever it was ought to be fired.

He should have said "Ramzan kareem Mubarak" LOL

But then I don't speak Arabic so I don't know.

YS! Help me out here!

I read that it means "Ramadan is generous" and is a traditional greeting.

I heard it meant, "big black guy with great hook shot".

Beefers thinks..... The more Jihadi Ass The President kisses.... The safer The Jihadists will be...... So don't worrie.... He has it under control..... Mohammed Obama is on the way!

As for America...... Well The Jihadists jury is still out on that one....

Happy Quanza everyone.... Or is it Santoria.... Or eat a clam day......

Beefers knows that...... If Teddy Roosevelt were the president on 9/11/01..... Saudi Arabia would now be New Exxon... Teddy would have loved the concept of the bomb..... Yes.... The Big Stick..... Indeed!

I read that it means "Ramadan is generous" and is a traditional greeting.

Yes, I think that's accurate.

But I have never heard people say Ramzan Kareeem to me at least.

They just say, "hey you fasting?" and I say "no dammit" and they ask "why dammit" and I say "I'm Jewish dammit" and they shut up after that.

I was a big fan of Kareem when he played for the Lakers. As for Ramadan, I prefer Hilton.

I missed his video announcement for Lent. Damn my eyes...

Why do the atheists usually deride Christians but defend Muslims? Is it the whole "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing? I hate to say it,but, the Atheist would probably get his head sawed off first by the Muslim Extremist..since there's nobody for him to pray to

that would be sad..believing that you're alone even after you die.. no wonder they are so pissy all the time

We're coming

America is a land of many faiths, and our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens. May the holy days of Ramadan remind us all to seek a culture of compassion and serve others in charity.

Laura and I send our best wishes. Ramadan Mubarak.

GEORGE W. BUSH

He should have said "Ramzan Kareem Mubarak" LOL

Ramzan Kareem means "Holy Ramzaan". So you don't say Holy Christmas, unless you're Robin in a Christmas special of Adam West's Batman.

But then I don't speak Arabic so I don't know.

Nah, but Kareem means Holy. Just think back to the way its used in Urdu.

And for anybody interested, Urdu is basically a combination of Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit that boiled together in the Military Camps of North India during the Middles Ages.

The word Urdu itself means Army Camp.

This language is spoken in India and is called Hindi. This makes Pakistanis and Indians mutually intelligible.

The only changes coming out are that Urdu is written in the Arabic Script right to left and Hindi is written left to right in the Sanskrit script.

To act all "national" since Independence of both countries, Pakistani's have been adding more Persian and Arabic words whereas Indians have been trying to Sansritise their languag as much as possible.

The last sentence should be:

To behave more "nationally", since the independence of both countries, Pakistan's government liguistic body has been adding more Persian and Arabic words to Urdu, whereas Indians have been trying to Sanskritise Hindi as much as possible.

Ramzan Kareem means "Holy Ramzaan"

Exactly.

Which is why I said it doesn't make sense to say "hey there... Holy Ramzan!" LOL

If you say "Ramzan Mubarak"... THAT makes sense.

What did you mean some time back when you said "South Africa disn't have the infrastructure to maintain nukes."

From Pakistan's own history, I can tell, you first need the infrastructure, only then you can build nukes. And once you have the infrastructure you can take care of those nukes.

I have heard no news of the South Africans receiving a nuke gift wrapped from any other country.

What did you mean some time back when you said "South Africa disn't have the infrastructure to maintain nukes."

Dude... you are taking this thread in all sorts of directions.. LOL

I have heard no news of the South Africans receiving a nuke gift wrapped from any other country.

Isreal. Everything they got.. all their tech... came from Isreal.

When S.Africa lost it's nukes, all the infrastructure... whatever there was, was dismantled and most of it vanished back to Isreal.

Also look up their nuclear test called "vela incident".

en.wikipedia.org

Thier resources were limited and all they could make was a basic gun-type nuke. They made 6 or 7 of those.

But that was OK since they said "we only want something that can be kicked off the back of a plane".

Before they gave up their nukes, they were moving to an implosion-type weapon that would have used the fuel from those 7 nukes and made far more efficient 25-30 nukes (or more) out of it.

They did not... as far as I know... have secret nuclear cities dedicated to nukes research like the Russian Arzamas-16 or Pakistan's Kahuta.

The uranium enrichment tech they used (they did not have the Plutonium bomb) was called "Nozzle enrichment" which is far less efficient than the centrifuges we used.

Point it, they could not sustain the effort.
