There are countries that hand out life sentences for less than that and I personally take six strokes from a cane over life in prison...

At this moment there are people that face decapitation, limb removal, death or other permanent disfigurement for much less. If we want to show righteous indignation then we should be going after those things and not a simple caning which while harsh is not in any way life threatening.

Aside from the fact that there is a very big difference between torture and punishment...now if they were using the caning as form of torture which would require more than six strokes then you could put them on the same page. Because the purpose of torture is to mentally and physically break a person down...this on the other hand is a simple punishment that can easily be overcome with pain tolerance and a strong mind.

The Left tends to accept that Islam is a religion made up of extremist and progressives, just like any other religion in the world. This fact is something that you obviously can't get your head around (or won't) because it doesn't fit your kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out mentallity. To understand that there are Muslims that feel the same way about extremist Islam that you do would deny you and yours the justification of blanket hatred for a people due to their ethnic/religious background and the color of their skin...

If you are so unaware of what goes on in the world then I am not going to hold your hand. Ignorance, genocide, oppression and political prisoners have been a part of the world since the very beginning. That is a reality of life. Most of which of does not get any publicity for a variety of reasons...for example we have Gitmo prisoners who have been found not guilty but will not be released for fear that they may not attack us because we captured and tortured them for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I know what you are going to say that articles doesn't specifically say that but read between the lines...other countries won't take them and so there is apparently no where for them to go but if they are innocent why can't they be given the option to live in the US since we are the ones who fucked up their lives? ...
