A few of us decided to change our username for various reasons. Why does that piss some posters off?

Ron, or whatever your name is, in the future, leave this line:

blank when posting your own opinion. The gerbils will take care of the work.

I wasn't even aware a person could change their name. I would imagine that one's account would woule have to be shut down and then re-join again? But I could be wrong, I am not an expert on DR technical issues.

Makes it appear as tho you are hiding from the posts you have made in the past.

Are you re inventing by running away from the posts you have made because they were False? Stupid? Hurtful? Threatening?

Are you just hiding?

If you change your name because you feel you have outgrown your old handle, then that is not a problem. It appears the problems occur when someone posts under a new name and pretends to be a new person here.

#3 gets my vote for the "Moment of Clarity" award.

Doesn't bother me...

I do wonder however, if the prenumbral effects of the recent court spat with Google ends up removing the anonymity of all Drudge posters, which Drudge regulars will either disappear or be discredited.

I've always suspicioned that some of the more prolific posters on here are in actuality, unemployed and inexperienced 30 somethings still living with their Mommas.

But who knows..

I have not been anonymous here ever really. I don't make my name readily avalible, but it is about two clicks away from anyone who wants to know and I have been using the name "Kanrei" online for over a decade, so it is basically really my online name.

who does it piss off?

afka and karate and I made it clear that we changed our handles.

and none of us has any posts to hide from ( well, maybe Afka.....)

so it shouldn't piss anybody off.

i was unaware people were pissed off.

Kanrei.. do you find any of the loonies that sometimes hang out on Drudge stalking your site?

I've debated linking to my sites as well, but have been hesitant since the anonymous can follow you.

???

By the way.. good blog..

Sometimes, but not that often. I used to a while ago, but I put an IP tracer on my blog and started posting the locations they were posting from. The site meter thing at the bottom of this page gives you lots of information on those who visit your site.

I used to be angrynyliberal pre registration days...

I'm still angry in NY and liberal but I didn't want to lead with that anymore. Besides, my posts should make that abundantly clear.

The only real troll problem I had actually came from a friend who felt I betrayed them rather than the random people here.

#9 | Posted by nmg_no - a couple have mine, but i installed haloscan and can make them disappear - also, a sitemeter is a handy item to have...you know, for evidence.

I wonder how many times douchebagdeluxe has changed his name?

who does it piss off?

#7 | Posted by nanc

I wouldn't say that it pisses me off, but when chumps like JerryTarkanian and Big Leaque Chewer deny the fact when someone guess who they were, they deserve the heat they get, especially considering their posting style has the same level of retardation.

they are rather apparent, wisgod - it's like all or some of them just run together like felt pens left out in the rain.

I'm usually vocal and dense at times. I figured I really couldn't find a word similar in definition to fit.

I don't mind username changes, though people who do it and continue their old fights should probably tell people about the change.

Changing usernames is NBD.

Pretending to be "new" here after doing so is even OK.

Creating an alt in order to agree with yer main username is laughable.

Be Well.

OH you mean STEALTH name changes .

Those are lame

But people get figured out, anyways.

Bye, bye, Lettuce.

Some trolls just suck ass, that's all.

With practice and a few more name changes you'll get it down, LetUsBray, er, little league, or whatever your handle du jour is

I do wonder however, if the prenumbral effects of the recent court spat with Google ends up removing the anonymity of all Drudge posters, which Drudge regulars will either disappear or be discredited.

splain this!

I am against removing anonymity for posters. I do not want you scumsuckers knowning anything about me beyond what I let you know. Personal info on sites like this is for morons who want to be spammed into oblivion or worse.

We have lost some good and prolific posters cause of personal info getting around (rob the ahole jumps to mind-well he was prolific i guess).

I don't mind username changes, though people who do it and continue their old fights should probably tell people about the change.

nah much funnier when they get caught.

wasnt there a guy around here a couple years ago who went through like 10 names and we would catch him every time and add his new name to his old name?

Yes. He currently goes by betelg

Th,

People make a personal decision to post on the DR.

I have been on this site for over 5 years and can only conjure up 2 situations where a poster had information revealed against their will.

One was Larry with the dog-thing and the other was Lokisfur with his deceased cat-thing.

While I agree that it's cruel to use one's admitted personal history as a weapon - grow a fricking penis. If you reveal vulnerable shit, don't play the victim-card when such is used against you. Now, that doesn't excuse such nasty behavior on the part of the attacker - have some fricking decency. But, don't expose personal demons if you fear the possibility of said demons being used against you later.

Yes. He currently goes by betelg

He'll also answer to dipshit if you put enough question marks behind it.

Jeff,
Rob never revealed anything personal. What somebody did to him was downright vicious.

Wis,

While I know Rob was chased from this site, I was absent when he was assaulted and never understood his explanation as a result.

I know why Lokisfur was chased away and I CERTAINLY know how Larry was chased away.

I am completely ignorant to Rob's situation. If you can be so kind, I would very much like to be educated about this, but don't want to further hijack this thread. Please email me at jjaskolski34@hotmail.com

LOL.

Alright, assholes, I guess I deserved that.

curently signing jeffj up for all sort of porn

Having said that, I am quite proud of the fact that my shit evoked a shared reaction between Joe and Nullifidian.

Jeff, the days of spoofing and you requesting private emails from everyone are sorely missed.

when rob first came on the site I got him so angry that he wanted to fight me. he lives near where I work and he posted where he lived, very stupid IMO.

So did you duke it out with him?

Don't know about pissing anyone off.

It's very telling though. I understand how some of you guys could be ashamed of your identities.

Past or present.

It's just telling......

TH,

I agree that revealing personal info is done at one's own peril.

What I am ignorant of is how Rob's personal info was used against him - which is shitty in its own right, but is irrelevant to this discussion.

Serious question - I am perfectly aware of a handle that you used to post under before morphing into 'Truthhurts'. Would you care if I exposed your prior DR identity?

#9 | Posted by nmg_no - a couple have mine, but i installed haloscan and can make them disappear - also, a sitemeter is a handy item to have...you know, for evidence.

You use haloscan because you want your blog to look like an echo chamber. If you allowed any real debate you would look foolish in a matter of seconds.

Even funnier. You're denying it? You got tossed, dumbass. Sully rubbed your nose in shit as well for going so over the top.
You cried to Rcade publicly too. It's all in the archives, douche. I completely fucking owned you to the point you created a new name and Rcade publicly called you out on it.

The archives are a bitch, and so are you.

Yep. However I wasn't going to reveal that unless you were OK with me doing so, which you apparently are.

101 is misremembering again.

I dont remember whether my booting was that incident, I dont think it was though I may be wrong. It really was nothing to me.

the time I did get booted, I contacted rcade and explained that the 3 deletes were all in a row and he reconsidered and let me back on.

Facts, they hurt dont they.

but feel free to go back through the archives, I would find it funny you would waste an hour or 2 of your life searching for evidence of you being a tough guy.

Uallsuck= truthhurts

You whined publicly, douche. Shall I post it, or will you admit it?

And I never said I was going to a peace rally.

Th,

My recollection was that you had a dump-fest, created a new handle, such creation was pointed out to Rcade, and he gave you a pass.

That is from memory, so it might be factually inaccruate, but I honestly don't think so.

feel free 101 to spend time proving your manhood. Generally you bore me but right now I would be amused.

Larry was a buffoon. Defeating him here was a great victory of mine. He needed to be put in his place and I did just that.

I was in an obnoxious mood and IIRC insulted 101 with some choice obscenities, 3 or so times in a row.

RCade dumped me. I pointed out what happened in a private email to him and he reconsidered and let me right back on.

Larry was a buffoon. Defeating him here was a great victory of mine

Wow. Right up there with when you took the 3rd grader's lunch money last week, I'll bet.

101 is furiously back paging through the archives looking for his GOTCHA! oh to be content with such petty victories.

#65 | Posted by jackass

Jesus Christ, you're fucked up.

I wish we would go unmoderated again. I get tired of having to hold my tongue. I have a ton of information and evidence I have gathered over the years but I am unable to use it. I would be banned again. The rule format does not allow for a free flowing debate. Unmoderated would allow me to present all my evidence.

BTW 101 yes I was uallsuck

you happy now?

Probably not, trolls rarely are.

When Ron Karate and Nullifidan (formerly Bill O'Reilly) changed their usernames at least they had the guts to let everyone on here know they were now going to have a new username.

Hiding behind a new username and not telling anyone else the username you used to use on DR, gives the "new" poster an unfair advantage. He/she knows everything about all the other posters and their past posting history yet they know nothing about the supposedly "new" poster.

Hard to make retorts when you're up against someone with a supposedly clean posting slate yet he/she seems to know everything about you.

There are a couple on here, though, who do have new usernames on such a regular basis that it's more humorous than anything else since everyone knows who they are anyway. "Itsy" happens to be one of those and I don't care when he changes usernames all the time. He's funny to have around so if having a new username is what it takes to keep him on DR then that's okay by me. (I know I'll likely soon be sorry for those words. lol)

I do not run from anything I have posted on this site.

Over the years, I have found that to be true.

And I never said I was going to a peace rally.

I swear to God that I have an accute recollection of you making that very comment. Google and the use of archiving doesn't bear this out - I even enlisted Larry's help - he's quite good at internet search. You are probably correct and I don't mean to impugn you, but Damn! I remember it vividly. What makes my recollection even more troublesome was your admonition that you would proudly admit attending a peace-rally, if you had actually done so.

What is truly strange is that I am not the only long-timer to recall you making that comment.

101 is furiously back paging through the archives looking for his GOTCHA! oh to be content with such petty victories.

Yeah...
Douche, there is an easy search on the mainpage. Simply type in Uallsuck, and look for the thread about Rcade's moderation. You whined publicly, sally.

You also tried to compare you, your wife, and your supposed kids to me, my wife, and my kids.

You're a punching bag, and you know it.

No fucking shit stupid. Exacly as I stated, right down to you publicly whining about getting dumped.

I think the person who used different usernames to most embarass himself was AmericanUnity on the 4 week farewell tour.

I wish we could all meet in real life. No Weapons just in an open park. Many of you all would finally learn the true meaning of liberalism.

"Unmoderated would allow me to present all my evidence."

What sort of "evidence" do you have that is not allowed by the moderation policy? Just describe it in general terms (i.e. photos of larry with dogs, etc.).

" Just describe it in general terms (i.e. photos of larry with dogs, etc.)."

What an ass.

why should I do it. Seems like you tried and failed to find me whining.

Those days were a nightmare! Anyone could log on under another's username, say horrendous things, and it was all okay to do.

Talk about it being the wild, wild West on DR!

I was brand new at blogging and thought it was the normal way people blogged. And you all wondered why I kept the fact I was a female to myself! You can imagine the stuff the clowns on here would have tossed out using "CalifChris" as the supposed poster if they knew I wasn't a guy. I (((shudder))) to think of what some of the comments would have been. LOL It was hard enough being a "guy" on here, especially when you weren't used to how guys usually kid around with each other.

But if you could survive the trial by fire of the old days on DR then you can blog anywhere.

#44 | Posted by rasta - thoroughly untrue - until i switched to haloscan, i had several posts with a great deal of debate - over 400 comments on some - i don't like people coming in and being totally o.t. or calling me names - my family and friends from all over the u.s. read my blogs. if you can stay on topic, you're welcome.

Maybe you're really "jackassetta" and don't want anyone to know?

You should have shown up and met with Jak at the bar that time. Who knows, you could have been able to make a good friend. The whole world doesn't revolve around politics you know. And if you're black, or white, or purple who gives a rat's behind.

Are you just shy, Jackass? Is that why you didn't meet Jak at the bar? No harm in admitting it if you are and that's the reason you didn't show up.

You mean DerflaRastaninjaBowaLokisfur?

Rob_the_A_Hole posted some funny shit.

Bowa was a hoot too, but he wasn't trying to be.

Those who choose self-insulting nicknames should change them, and since, if they are one of the Yellow-dog curs or bitches, it doubles the shame involved in so identifying yourself.

Most of any such changes are because the nick is insulting to them, or has become insulting by nature of their partisan idiocy. Yellow-dogs, of course, being the vast majority of those who are ashamed of their lies, brainwashed muckraking and partisan calumny ...

I do think that a name change should change the 'senority' of those desiring such a name renovation.

Seeing the new nick with the old senority is a literal lie, and which Rogers obviously supports ... go figure ...

I wish we could all meet in real life. No Weapons just in an open park. Many of you all would finally learn the true meaning of liberalism.

okay nancy. will your husband be there too?

"Those days were a nightmare! Anyone could log on under another's username, say horrendous things, and it was all okay to do."

The good 'ole days. My favorite spoof was when someone asked 101 what's up and I responded as him: "Not much. Just took a.t shit. Wanna lick my asshole and guess what I had for lunch?"

The poster it was directed to was pissed off/grossed out. Turns out it was a lady.

Still quite proud of that one.

"Still quite proud of that one."

Yeah, I know what you mean. I posted a spoof of Armella that caused her to quit the site. Unfortunately, she came back a few months later as LZK.

That is hilarious, Sully.

I miss the spoof.

Anybody who doesn't miss a good Frank Cotton spoof or Murphy spoof is a fricking liar.

Jeff - I wish Frank would have stayed - just not at the expense of the spoofs.

Frank Cotton is one poster you loved but were scared of you'd wet your pants!!!

I loved the spoofing days!

Oohrah you posted your real name on this blog which is insane. People can track you very easily if they choose to do so. I am 5'11 188lbs of steel Wisgod.

I do think that a name change should change the 'senority' of those desiring such a name renovation.

Why? What is the importance in that seniority number? It's not like it gets you a better spot at the table or the front of the checkout queue at the supermarket or anything.

Mine could be 9999 and I wouldn't care. It doesn't change a thing as far as my presence here on the DR.

Frank Cotton?

Frank, today I'm gonna bang twice.

Thats pretty big for a chick

I was originally INWI and changed it to take the fun away from someone who was posting my real name against my wishes.

However, I would have changed it eventually because I moved out of WI...but wouldn't have used my real first name.

I think I loved Frank Cotton--lol

As for folks changing their names--no big deal.

As long as they are honest about it and not trying to create a poster to agree with their own opinions.

I was actually thinking of changing it again, just for kicks.

I'm not now since this thread!!

Change it, Lisa. Just be honest. Don't be a slimy sneak like itsy, letusbray, boyd, et al. Do like Null and ron karate and declare your name change. No dishonor in that.

I miss the good ol' days when every new person who posted here was accused of being me.

OMGosh Rex, I did that!!! I'm sooooo sorry!!!!!

Lol

Forgive me?

Hey, just for fin if you liked it so much...I can do it again!!!

Nah, Lisa you have to wait until I bring Rogers and this blog to it's knees again, and then get banished and start another blog and not be able to post here.....

Then it will be funny again.....

If I ever change my username again, it's going to be a huge departure from what I actually think.

#121

nawwww...I'm gonna keep my handle.

I wouldn't be able to decide on a different one anyway.

My friends get a kick out of my husband when they call here...every time he calls me to the phone, he calls me a different pet name.

He's got a million of them. I wouldn't know which one to pick!!

Lol

If I ever change my username again, it's going to be a huge departure from what I actually think.

I've often thought of putting up a thread to get an opinion as to whose names match them the best and whose don't. E.G., I don't think commonsense's handle is fitting, but I think mine is since I am ornery and like to butt heads. (I also stink and piss in my beard, but y'all wouldn't know that)

Ok Rex...you just give me the signal!!

Wait...what IS the signal?

I think I'm going to change my handle to Boyd.

LMBO Rex!!!

Hey....I think you've stumbled on a way around the rule against spoofing like the old days. If someone changed their name....you're free to use their old one right???

LOL

I don't know, Rogers got all pissy when I used his ex girlfeinds name.....Jonathan Bourne....

I posted Bournes old 'articles' (see the front page) and Rcade failed to see the great humor in it.

Last sentence made me spit out my Diet Rite!

Mine fits since it's my real first name.

I wish you guys were here one day when spoofing was allowed and DR went down.

A few of us were able to sneak in another way and it was a major laugh riot! I never had so much fun here as that day!

101 was a hoot...had me laughing so hard I was crying!!

I'm trying to think of the others who were in their with us...can't remember off hand but every one of them were great!!!

The potato brothers?? Who are they, Andy?

I'm still trying to figure out what a co-publisher is...

I mean I average 10 to 15 times more comments in my posts then Bourne ever had in his largest thread.

When do I get co-publisher credits?

Let's try it Rex!

You be Boyd, I'll be LZK, we'll get some of the others to join in.

*pssst...you don't think RCADE will come back to this thread, do ya??*

Actually, I want to be Shakey D, I have the strangest urge to cut my wang off with a shard of broken glass and then sue Rogers ad carriers....

Oh good grief!

What ever happened to Evagushka?

No clue...but I miss him.

It was a him, right?

What ever happended to you all getting a fucking life?

As you have witnessed, I didn't know much about all the teams and players and making my picks based on the color of their uniforms didn't work out so well for me!!!

I've lost the last 3 years in the SB of Fantasy Football.

Post a thread Rex. It'll be interesting to have 12 teams competing since we are use to having all studs on our 6 player leagues.

I think Rex won the 2007 league Lisa.

rex - if i had one, i could not imagine sitting my big fat arse on a sofa or easy chair for hours on end watching anything the the tube except for perhaps reruns of the capitol one guys' commercials - now that was entertainment!

Where is Chris moving too, and why? Is California falling into the pacific?

I think Rex is right, Stir...I think it was Phant, now that he said that.

LOL stir. Not sure.

But I think Chris is a good swimmer so I doubt that is it.

Wait...sharks!!!!

So the PGA had it's final major and Nanc is off the lazy boy till next April's Masters Tourney?

And we will petition Rcade to do that for you!!!

When the time comes I'll just send Rcade an email and see if he says okay to retiring my old username. I''ve used it long enough here on DR I think he'd okay it.

You coming east young man? Just give me 24 hours notice so I can defrost the front shoulder of the pig. You can't come here and not have a proper meal.

Tybee Island is where we are going. I'll post a report tomorrow.

Cool. That's a beautiful drive to there through that marsh cut by winding streams and long boat piers stretching out into it.

There's a good view from the top of the lighthouse -- in case you've never been there before. YOu can see the merchant ships entering the harbor.

That's just what my dad told me -- about Savannah being 3rd.

He's into cotton. Been an international salesman for 50 years. He was showing me all the old cotton warehouses on the river that have been converted to shops and restaurants. It's pretty interesting. His company's plant is in Savannah and they ship a lot of stuff out of there.

I'm game, but you may have to run that past Mrs buzz...:(

I'm looking forward to seeing Savannah. Heard many good things about the city. Mrs Buzz wants to eat at Paula Deans resturant. We shall see.

My dad told me that you have to actually stand in line to get in and although very good, it's not worth the wait. But my dad is like me -- he is impatient.

Don't forget to go see all the squares. YOu can get maps that have really cool walking tours and they also describe the history of the squares and the houses around them. I've you've ever seen the movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" you will recognize a few of these houses (Mercer house comes to mind) and squares.

Check out the shops by the river. Take a walk around the other side of the shops, which are a few stories above the river level. Beautiful 19th century architecture. These are the old cotton warehouses where they shipped cotton out of the US to England prior to and during the civil war.

FF!

I'm not trying to play coy, Lisa. I honestly don't know where to move yet. Wish I did.

Right now all my time has been tied up with getting this place on the market. I've never sold a house before. But the problem is I'm having hassles with my sibling and her hubby who were suppose to come down (they live out of state) and help me do some repairs and things needed done in the house to get the place on the market (get furniture moved out, get the rugs pulled up so the hardwood floors can be shown, etc.)

I've taken care of everything else myself so far, but I now need some real physical help. But they want to just throw the house on the market "as is" (they already have a home in another state and don't look at the sale of the house as the major investment I see it being). There's also a lot more to the story but I'm not putting it out on here. LSS -- after exchanging a few words, I'm now entirely on my own as far as getting every single thing needed to be done finished and the place on the market.

I've already retained a realtor. Once the house is ready to be listed I'll take those few weeks it's on the market and use that time to start seriously looking full time for a place to move. Don't mean to bad mouth family, but when $$$ is involved it can be a real eye opener sometimes, not to mention disappointing and physically and emotionally exhausting. I can't wait until this is over and done with and I'm out of here. You have no idea how much. But it'll be soon now.

Sorry about the sibling problem. When my mom passed away my brothers and I didn't care about the money. When we went through her belongings it was more like "here, you take this you've always liked it" or " here...mom would have wanted you to have this". I laughed at the woman I spoke with at probate when she asked if I had siblings and when I said yes, she told me to get a lawyer. Lol...she didn't know us!!

Actually, my sister and I had no problems at all between us when it came to dividing up the things here in the house. Some things meant a lot to her and I was more than happy to let her have those and she did the same for me. We each picked which pieces of jewelry we liked. Crystal, china and other items we split 50/50 and things went smoothly. Perfectly, in fact. We each took the pieces of furniture we wanted and there were no problems at all as far as dividing the things here in the house.

The problems arose when it came to the selling of the house. Did you and your siblings have to sell your folks' home and divide it among you? THAT's where the trouble began -- what improvements to do/not do to get the house ready for sale. Put in some improvements (which is what I wanted to do) or take a loss and sell it "as is" (my sibling and her husband's preference).

You wrote -

Thanks for the kind words. I couldn't bring myself to put her in some nursing home. I lost a few years of my own life having to give up my place (and social life!) to move in here to care for her but I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Funny, but I ended up being closer and getting to know more about my Mom as a person those last few years than I had all the years before.

I'll find a state and place to settle down. I'm not worried about that. I'm looking at moving somewhere new (and out of CA!) as more of an adventure than anything else.

Sorry, but I don't remember where you are living now. I know you were in Wisconsin and then moved to Missouri. Are you still in Missouri or did you move to another state when you got married? Having the four changes of seasons is nice. Every state has its pros and cons. But I'm looking forward to moving and seeing all new things and meeting a lot of new people.

OH - And as for "CalifChris" soon to no longer fit as my "username"? Suppose I start a thread once I've settled in some new state and you all can give me suggestions on what username would suit me best. LOL I'm afraid to see some of the names likely to be suggested. Well, it'll be good for a few laughs if nothing else. I'll keep you posted let you know when I'm finally ready to head out of CA.

A few of us decided to change our username for various reasons. Why does that piss some posters off?

I don't know, it's not like you changed you chopped off your junk in an abortive attempt to change your gender.

As far as threatening goes, don't know, don't really care. I have the advantage, as we all do, of being out of range.
