Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, August 20, 2009

In the last few weeks, a former president traveled to North Korea to negotiate the release of imprisoned Americans; a senator flew to Burma to bargain for the release of another American; and envoys of North Korean have come to the U.S. for talks with America's former ambassador to the United Nations. Has Secretary of State Hillary Clinton been marginalized?

I think Hill is still in the Congo preaching the health benefits of cooking your monkey meat thoroughly before sharing it with your village. None of that high-falutin' hostage-releasing stuff for her, no sir.

This week she'll be heading to Liechtenstein to honor all of that country's great contributions, as well as attending the famed Oom Pa Pa Festival. You go, girl!

I think it was a mistake on her part to accept the position.

I don't get the impression that she's being given the degree of latitude to formulate policy that she needs to be successful. She's a clumsy person when she's following orders in lieu of calling the shots.

I could be wrong but it seems like Obama has her on a relatively short leash, which is a poor use of her strengths. I don't like her, but I recognize that she is a decision-maker, not an order-taker. Sorry Dems, you nominated the wrong candidate for POTUS.

She should have said, "Thanks, but no thanks" to Sec of State and should have instead vied to take Harry Reid's job.

Probably so.

Hag,

She is a bright and tough woman.

Being an order-taker is a poor use of her strengths.

This was a party-unity thing and it's a misuse of talent.

She might be "tough," but she basically has zero foreign policy experience. It appears that Obama knows that, and only nominated her to give the impression of "unity" within the party.

As a conservative I still maintain that Hillary Clinton was the best candidate in the field for president. I believe now that she is a titular Secretary of State, nothing more.

How can you say that Hillary has "zero foreign policy experience?" She was in the white house with Bill for eight years.

"She has been the most low-key secretary in recent times," said Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the conservative Heritage Foundation

Uh Margaret from the oxymoronic "conservative-think tank, "recent times"? Condi's accomplishments, let's list them? Zero. what a pathetic waste of Internet electrons from CroxNews.com.

Hillary's been in there for 7 months, get a grip.

I know she has only been there for seven months. I hope she does well. I am a conservative, but not a liberal hating conservative. I wish that Hillary was president because I believe she has more knowledge and experience than John McCain and Obama combined.

JD

I don't think it's the inability for Hillary to get the job done; rather the frantic mobilization of moderate Dems to save face for Obama's relationsfail.

With Bill Clinton busting out his southern accent and Webb, his handgun: America still has balls.

What? Corky hasn't made a comment on this thread? I am surprised.

Obama needs to start using Hillary Clinton better. It's a waste of her talents to be on the sidelines like this.

Hillary is being set aside.

She has Holbrooke running the Afghanistan thing.

Mitchell is running the Israel/Palestinian thing.

The crooked Richardson is now back and running NK.

Gore and Billo ran the NK hostage release thing.

And Jim Webb of all people running the Burma release the hostage thing!

And she knows this as well--with her comment about not chanelling her husband to a question by a college student. She was thouroughly p-off.

Meanwhile she is dancing in a Congo line.

As for Condi accomplishments--she has quite a few.

She reopened nuclear negotiations with North Korea, even authorizing bilateral talks, which George W. Bush had adamantly refused to conduct all through his first term as president.

She persuaded Bush to endorse similar (if less promising) negotiations that Britain, France, and Germany had initiated with Iran, which he had also vigorously opposed.

She crafted the terms of a United Nations resolution to investigate war crimes in Sudan, a measure that first-term Bush had resisted.
She dropped the campaignwhich had been launched with great verve by Vice President Dick Cheneyto replace Mohamed elBaradei as chair of the International Atomic Energy Agency and then got U.S. intelligence agencies to resume briefing IAEA officials, a practice that had also been discontinued in the first term.

As a prerequisite to all the above accomplishments, she staved off Cheney's intense efforts to appoint his protg, John Bolton, as deputy secretary of state and implicitly acknowledged Bolton's unsuitability for a concession prizeU.N. ambassadorby assuring Democratic opponents that he would be carefully "supervised."

Very interesting insight you had on Hillary as Secretary of State and her not being used to the fullest of her capabilities. All the more so as you are Republican but your take on it appears to be non-partisan and right on the money.

Hillary is an absolute cunt. What she id and said to the officers protecting her dumb ass while in Arkansas is inexcusable. Let her be the marginalized she is and hopefully a one term shill.

she shoulda been VP
woulda been a better attack dog than biden's been lately. where the hell is he, anyway?

The Clintons must have had the goods on Barry and he agreed to make her Secretart of State and then he worked all his foreign policy like she didn't exist. Good Chicago politics.

Barry may be a lying, race baiting, overspending, taxing socialist fool but he is a great pol. He fooled a lot of people, even Hillary.

there's a part of me that wishes hillary had been the DNC nominee, just for this healthcare battle. having watched the democratic primaries, her stated healthcare plan was MORE socialistic than obama's 'big tent' approach (single-payer system, anyone?), and thus might have engendered more angst from the town hall protester types, but one thing's for sure: she would have steam-rolled over these assholes a month and a half ago.
can u imagine hitler moustaches on her grim visage?

Mantra labels such as "tough", "strong" and "talent" do not make them so. Hilary Clinton is, in truth, an abysmal failure. She failed as a woman. She failed as a wife. She failed as a Mother. She has a failed marriage. Essentially, she is a failure in every aspect of her life. She has willingly prostituted herself to the mainstrem media, to aid that sector in demoralizing and destroying the true worth of women in the United States. It is no surprise that she is of no effect in the role of Secretary of State. What she has done for the office is to reduce it to the same level of respect afforded to a court jester.

"Hilary Clinton is, in truth, an abysmal failure."
Really?

"She failed as a woman."
What does that mean?

"She failed as a wife."
How so?

"She failed as a Mother."
Ditto.

"She has a failed marriage."
She seems to be able to live with it; why can't you?

"Essentially, she is a failure in every aspect of her life."
But you don't offer any specifics. Pity. Otherwise, you might not sound like a judgmental ass.

"She has willingly prostituted herself to the mainstrem media, to aid that sector in demoralizing and destroying the true worth of women in the United States."
Ah, even a few specifics would help but, alas, are lacking.

"It is no surprise that she is of no effect in the role of Secretary of State."
Oh, forgot, you've got a special pass to the back-and-forth between POTUS and his SOS. Please, my sides are starting to ache from laughing.

"What she has done for the office is to reduce it to the same level of respect afforded to a court jester."
Hey, you court jesters get plenty of respect.

ROTFLMAO!

Hilary Clinton is, in truth, an abysmal failure. She failed as a woman. She failed as a wife. She failed as a Mother. She has a failed marriage. Essentially, she is a failure in every aspect of her life.

I can see it's a lot of fun for you to use the word fail, but your comment fails to provide a single reason she's failed at anything. Her daughter, her political career and her accomplishments in life would make her a success by anyone's estimation -- aside from rabid partisans. As for her marriage, what did she ever do to screw it up? Do you blame Elizabeth Edwards too?

Hilary Clinton is, in truth, an abysmal failure.

Yessiree Bob! Such the failure in life she is. Really quite pathetic. We should all learn from this "abysmal failure" of Hillary.

IF Obama's approval rating continue going down.. what's the chances of Hilliary challenging him during the next presidential election?

What!

FOX and Cockfisher don't like Hillary?

Oh, say it ain't so! Shocking, truly shocking!

She sees the President nearly daily when she is in country, and is managing the efforts of all the special foreign appointees.

The State Dept was in a state of decay after 8 years of being nearly completely ignored, no, more like abused by the last admin.

They seem to have new life now with a new Sec and admin that actually believe in diplomacy as a tool instead of missiles first.

The only thing I've heard her complain about is the slow reaction time to vet new employees.

As she says, she is no shrinking violet, and would say so if she had other problems.

I know she has only been there for seven months. I hope she does well. I am a conservative, but not a liberal hating conservative. I wish that Hillary was president because I believe she has more knowledge and experience than John McCain and Obama combined.

Welcome to the Retort, Johnny Boy.

For once in the past three decades I have to agree with Rush Limbaugh who called it a brilliant move for Obama when Hilary's appointment as SOS was announced.

The last thing Obama needed was a woman like Hilary Clinton grabbing the limelight while he was trying to persuade congress to play ball.

The easiest way to deal with her and keep her out of the public eye was to send her off on a wild goose chase for the first four years.

I will say this, had Hilary received the nomination I think she would have lost just because she is so manipulative very few men would have voted for her, and yes, men still can vote.

Whatever her talents, she rubs alot of people the wrong way.

#29 Yes, misogynists, mostly.

Hillary Odd Man Out

Is that why bill messed around so much? He should loan her to barney.

#31

Mention them, and they will come.

"Yes, misogynists, mostly."

I know plenty of women who don't like her.

You actually have to be pretty crazy to like any major American politician so much that you are blind to what others find unappealing about them. To say that most people who don't like Hillary just hate all women is a bit much.

Welcome to the Retort, Johnny Boy.

You're so easy, Corky

Obama needs to start using Hillary Clinton better. It's a waste of her talents to be on the sidelines like this. #14 | Posted by rcade at

What? The righties went bazerk when Bill did the NK thing--playing into the hands of rogue regimes, and all that dung. Now, the rightnut "think tanks" complain that Hillary didn't get to do it? Maybe the Obama Admin was intentionally isolated from these "rescue ops" while task-saturated with the economy, health care, etc. Anybody who thinks these moves actually flanked The White House is a very naive type.

In fact, it's just more hysteria from The New Whig Party (formerly known as the GOP), desperately grasping at any straw they can...

Corky, Hillary doesn't need or want your pathetic defense of her marginalization by the Obama administration. She's too busy right now (there's a funeral to attend for the dead VP of Nowhereistan), and she remembers how you ditched her for Blowbama when she needed you the most.. You swam away from her floundering fat ass faster than Teddy dog-paddled away from Mary Jo, just when she was drowning politically. How you can live with yourself after Corkaquiddick is anyone's guess. Go back to sucking the hind teet of the Dark Lord of the Apocalypse along with Doc, Roma, and Sanantoadyo. Hillary will be fine. Besides, there's a Scrod Festival in Newfoundland that needs her urgent attention. Those Scots and Libyans will just have to deal with some one else.

Did Cockfisher say something or did he just fart again?

He likes to bite the fart bubbles underwater.

Come on Doc. Your graciousness in equating Ms Hillary's skills with those of your own indicate a great compassion, but nevertheless a departure from reality.

You have style. I can imagine you in a "ROTFLMAO!" mode, and giving a bravura performance. But Ms Hillary would not be amusing. It's just not her schtick. There is only one Doc Sarvis.

Hilary Clinton is, in truth, an abysmal failure.

Aren't some of these purported "accomplishments" by Ms Hillary actually just "ex officio" seats she attained as "Bill's wife" after his election as Governor of Arkansas in 1978. And remember that he earlier was Attorney General of Arkansas.

These ex officio type of appointments as the spouse of an elected politician are certainly coincidental.

- Co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families in 1977.

- Became the first female chair of the Legal Services Corporation in 1978.

- Named the first female partner at Rose Law Firm in 1979.

- Twice listed as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America.

- Led a task force to reform Arkansas's education system.

Remember Michelle Obama's recognition as a person warranting a tripling of her salary and designation as a VP at her place of employment upon Obama's election to national office. This delayed competency comes with the territory.

What were Ms Hillary's demonstrated legal achievements that won her inclusion in the hundred in a backwater Arkansas law firm? And what extraordinary "accomplishment" was her graduation from law school? It's a pretty pedestrian achievement.

One of my late partner's sons was graduated from Yale summa cum laude. Now that's something of a scholastic accomplishment. But Ms Hillary "merely was graduated. Whoopee!

- Served on the board of directors of Wal-Mart as well as several other prominent corporations.

- Became a senator for the State of New York.

She was just plucked out of nowhere because of her demonstrated expertise - in what? Give it a break.
- Attained the position of Secretary of State for the United States of America.

Read "Was euchred out of position to be "a contender" by a more sophisticated political opponent. She was marginalized politically." Ms Hillary certainly demonstrated her own political ineptitude.
Yessiree Bob! Such the failure in life she is. Really quite pathetic. We should all learn from this "abysmal failure" of Hillary.

Mediocre accomplishments most of which were received as "Bill's wife."

And she was a woman, who was so in thrall to her own political advancement that she allowed herself to be publicly humiliated and abused by her spouse and over a period of years, the entire marriage. What character. What integrity. Indeed.

#29 Yes, misogynists, mostly.

You throw that crap at anyone who doesn't like her. Well I did't like bubba first, but they're a pair. Sniper fire on the tarmac was demonstrable of her willingness to say anything. Truth and Reality only come into play when it's convenient.

As for her appointment to State, I think it's over her head, but Obama had to appease the Mavens & Mamas. Same old when he choose Biden.

Hopefully Obama will only serve one term and they'll all disappear into the history books.

Beefers agrees..... Hillery is an od man.... Sort of looks like some of the cows on my spread.... She should be forced to wear a clown suit at work and all public appearances....

Maybe the Obama Admin was intentionally isolated from these "rescue ops" while task-saturated with the economy, health care, etc.

The Secretary of State is bogged down in the economy, health care, etc.? Since when are domestic nanny issues the purview of someone whose job is foreign diplomacy?

When North Korea came up Hillary was quickly sent to Shithole, Africa to scold men and tell them raping girls is not polite.

It's called "managing focus" Vernon. She is part of the WH administration, and they are not going to create too many fronts within that group at any one time, foreign and/or domestic.

Admirable attempt at saving face.

Fact remains, the Secretary of State is not involved in domestic nanny matters. It would have taken the Messiah 30 seconds to say "Send Hillary! to North Korea to straighten things out"
