Suck it, Packers.

Somebody tell me this is from Onion News Network..... please!!

Hhahahahaha!

Packer backers...

Where's your messiah now, eh?

Lisa, are you going to get a Favre Vikings jersey?

This is rich. Is Madden coming back too?

12 million bucks. For one season!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Not the Vikes!!!!!!!

"12 million bucks. For one season!"

Plus he gets bonuses for every interception he throws. Ought to be a lucrative year.

Monday, Oct 5th.

Green Bay at Minnesota

Sun, Nov 1st.

Minnesota at Green Bay
(ie; early Christmas)

EA Sports really has to scramble today.

This will make for an interesting NFC North division.

Being a Jets fan was one thing but I can NOT be a Vikes fan.

Brett...I love you!! But some things are to inhumane to do, even for love. Cheering for the Vikes is one of them!!

#7

Ron,,,it should be interesting!

Here's my take on it:

Rogers had a better first season than Bretts first season if I am not mistaken...Rogers numbers were better.

Considering the Brett should have retired last year and Rogers is in his prime...

My money is still going on the Pack!

My heart is always going to pump green and gold!

Yep, the NFC North wouldn't be interesting otherwise.

Let's see;

How fast does Cutler destroy the Bears.

The Lions(...snicker).

Packers...yawn...but now the rivalry with the Vikings heats up.

Everybody hates the Vikings.

"12 million bucks. For one season!"

Retire ad nauseum, then be talked into a mere 12 mil to unretire?

Favre must be a genius.

Awful lot of money to be a caddy for Ade Peterson. having Favre in the backfield with Peterson alone will net the running back an extra yard or so a carry. If Favre throws more than 500 passes this year it will be a travesty.

the dome will help out his artritis, but the astroturf sure won't. if the vikes make the playoffs they better darn well assure themselves of a home game, cuz if they gotta play outside in January, Favres's done for.

As a Bears fan, I am loving this. To watch Favre play against the Packers will be great TV.

The Pack looked good their first preseason game. Fast offense!! I was impressed. Well...except for the penalties! But they still looked good!

I love football season!!

"Everybody hates the Vikings"

Homosexuals don't. I think it has something to do with the purple helmets they wear.

Favre must be a genius.

No kidding. But I wonder if Deanna asks him to run to the store to pickup some milk and bread, if he screws with her like he does the NFL.

It's a wonder that if he makes a pass at her, it's not intercepted.

#14

LOL Joe!

And I bet you'll suddenly become a Vikes fan,

As a Bears fan, I am loving this.
#14 | Posted by JOE

I don't know Joe. Watching Cutler call out Hester after the first preseason game is pretty damned entertaining.

He was overrated in his prime. Now he just sucks. The Vikes would be better off punting the season and trying to develop a younger QB. Because they're going nowhere with Favre anyway. I wish only the worst for both franchise and player.

This is going to make Sportscenter unwatchable at times. Watching the ESPN anchors desperately trying to find excuses to praise Favre when he's playing like shit is worse than listening them fawn over their beloved Bosox (who also suck right now).

what a little bitch Favre is.

I guarantee at home, his partner is doing all the throwing and he's doing the catching.

I hope every packer fan burns whatever Favre items they have.

like we did when Jerry Rice went to The Raiders

I don't like the Vikings. However, I still feel sick for them.

He was overrated in his prime. Now he just sucks. The Vikes would be better off punting the season and trying to develop a younger QB. Because they're going nowhere with Favre anyway.

Overrated? So if he isn't top 3 in his era and top 10 all time, who is underrated?

Why in the world would you "punt" a season when you have the best player in the NFL and top 3 offensive and defensive lines?

They were 9-7 last year...one mediocre QB away from making the playoffs. Favre is still better than 2/3rds of the QBs in the league.

Packers...yawn...but now the rivalry with the Vikings heats up.

Everybody hates the Vikings.

I don't know what you're yawning about the Packers about. They are a very solid team that is better than most out there.

The Vikes would be better off punting the season and trying to develop a younger QB.-Sully

They are already doing that. Why waste a season on Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels? Talk about wasting your time. With Bret there they have a veteran QB and the younger guys can learn from him. I'd rather have Favre over either one of those guys any day of the week.

Learn what from him?

WTF did the Jets learn from him last year?

Don't get me wrong, I think Favre belongs in the HOF, and 12 mil. is a good reason to embarrass yourself, but it's gotta be a disruption to the Vikes.

As a Bears fan, I am loving this. To watch Favre play against the Packers will be great TV.

Don't laugh too hard "counselor". That whiny little Bitch you guys picked up will get eaten up alive in Chicago.

"Overrated? So if he isn't top 3 in his era and top 10 all time, who is underrated?"

He played a high risk, inconsistent style of ball and never developed into the type of veteran quaterback who hangs onto the ball and wins games consistently. He's basically the best quaterback never to grow as a player once he made it into the league. Now his phyiscal skills are gone and he can no longer use his talent to make up for his horrible decision making.

"Favre is still better than 2/3rds of the QBs in the league."

Favre sucked ass last year. He was better than nobody. I'm a Giants fan but I got all the Jets games. He was horrible and he gave up on the team when they still had a shot at the playoffs. The Viking should have signed Vick.

"Why waste a season on Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels?"

Fair enough but why wasted a season and 12 million bucks on Favre, who was every bit as bad as those guys last year with the added bonus that he gave up on his teammates 10 weeks into the season.

"A disgruntled member of Raider Nation"

Nope. I have every reason to be psyched about my team this year.

I have to disagree that Favre was as bad as those guys last season. He did have a bad second half but the Jets were still better because of him. As for the money, hey if they want to spend it and they are still under the salary cap then I see nothing wrong with it. They are doing what every other team in the league does every year; trying to win a Super Bowl.

I can say this as a MN fan: You know your career is reaching an end when you are a QB donning purple and gold.

Sully, the only reason that the Jets were in a position to go to the playoffs was because of Favre. He had one of the best first halves of any QB in the league last year. Yes, he faded but they never would have been where they were without him.

sacrilege.

Go Bret!

GO EAGLES!

Best first halves don't get you into the playoffs.

He quit on them.

Favre sucked ass last year. He was better than nobody

Until he blew his arm out, his team was 8-3 and he was one of the league leaders in passing.

Well, lessee, I guess that Favre isn't he second coming of Dante Culpepper, lmao..... but he's got to be better than most on this list.... which shows they haven't had a decent QB in at least 10 years.

So you give 12 mil. to a 40 yr. old QB who had biceps surgury during the off season......and trained with a high school football team.

Yes Jerry. That's what you do when you have 2 stinker QB's in camp. And Jerry, he had surgery. And Jerry, he rehabilitated with a High School team. And lastly Jerry, you don't seem to know jack shit about Sports.

Tell us what you know Wussy.

You would be touching yourself if the Pack re-signed Favre.

It's official...he signed.

Brett Favre, who three weeks ago had told coach Brad Childress that he would remain retired, signed a deal Tuesday with the Minnesota Vikings.

The deal is worth between $10 million to $12 million, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

The Vikings made it official with a news release early Tuesday afternoon. A news conference to introduce Favre is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

See, there you go again. Take a look at Rogers stats vs. Favre's from last season. That ought to burn out the old bean grinder.

Doesn't change the fact that you would still be groping yourself.

"Sully, the only reason that the Jets were in a position to go to the playoffs was because of Favre."

And he also made it impossible to win for the last two months of the season so he's also the reason they didn't make it. And in his press conferences, he was basically admitting he gave up so what kind of leadership is that?

I think fans in Wisconsin are duped by Favre's early success on the whole leadership thing. He's a selfish ass. What kind of leader plays the "will she, won't she" game every year - leaving his team in limbo in the process? Football is game where continuity is important and he creates chaos for no other reason than to draw attention.

Even when he was still with the Pack, I saw a game he left because he was hurt and the backup comes in and throws his first career TD and almost got the team out of the whole Favre dug for them and Brett doesn't even congratulate the kid. Totally ignores him on the sideline and does't offer one bit of advice. He was out of the game and it was clear he could give a crap what happened from there. And last year when he was hurt he made it clear that he gave up on the season. If he can't be the big star, he doesn't offer any encouragement to anyone else.

Leadership my ass.

BYW. The Pack: 8-8 this year.

Nope.

8-8.

At best.

Funny how you compare the Packers QB and Vikings QB. Shame there is no way to compare the rest of the Packers to Vikings...wait...are there more Packers? Aging but decent receivers, somewhat weak on defense, and...wait, do you have a run game? You started how many RB's in the last two season with only a handful of decent games? Although, I'll give the Packers this: Aaron Rodgers is even better than he gets credit for. I was furious at Childress for not attempting to trade for him before Favre "retired".

And now its official: Vikings go to the Superbowl. Best run game. Best run defense. Decent pass defense. And now a passing option. The Favre threat should open up the passing lanes even more.

"The Favre threat should open up the passing lanes even more. "

Yeah, but for which team?

And now its official: Vikings go to the Superbowl.

And a flying pig just shit all over my windshield.

"The Favre threat should open up the passing lanes even more. "
Yeah, but for which team?
#57 | Posted by nullifidian

...have you seen our passing lanes last two seasons? Teams just played against the run game because we couldn't pass. Despite your misgivings, Favre can throw the ball pretty well still compared to most QBs...especially TJ and Sage. Vikings aren't a heavy passing team, but now we have a second threat which means teams will have to cover the passing game. You'll see a wider use of the pass with a more stretched out secondary. I guess that will also open up run lanes.

Its not like the Vikings have any real inherent weaknesses besides the passing game.

This is so perfect. The Vikes open against my Browns.
I see Favre carving up our suspect secondary and then the media circus will really heat up.

"What kind of leader plays the "will she, won't she" game every year - leaving his team in limbo in the process?"

I've heard a lot about this "leaving the team in limbo" business with regard to Favre and the Packers. Did they have to write all new plays for Rodgers? What is the difference? When Favre decided to come back again, they could have told Rodgers to have a seat and wait. Then they blamed it on the fact that they had been planning their season without Favre. Again I ask - how much planning did that take?

sage rosenfelt has earned a legitimate chance at becoming a starter...he wasnt going to get that chance here and now he wont get that chance in minn.

too bad.....but when the superstar GAY QB says let me play..

well you just let him play ....

"I've heard a lot about this "leaving the team in limbo" business with regard to Favre and the Packers. Did they have to write all new plays for Rodgers? What is the difference? When Favre decided to come back again, they could have told Rodgers to have a seat and wait. Then they blamed it on the fact that they had been planning their season without Favre. Again I ask - how much planning did that take?"

Ummmmm..... They obviously wanted to start Rodgers last year but those other years they obviously didn't. So the team didn't know if they were getting Favre back or if it would be wise to find another veteran QB or if they just had to rush their future QB before they felt he was ready. Not only that, but what kind of a leader fucks with his teammates heads year in and year out like that? Leaders have to have credibility with their teammates. Acting like a diva just pisses people off.

And what he did this year was even worse. He drew attention to the fact that his backups on the Vikes suck. They do, but a leader wouldn't feel the need to expose teammates like that. And for the 2nd straight year he's arriving late to camp despite starting with a new team. Should the rest of the Vikes follow that example? He's a case of exactly how not to act if you want your team to win.

Maybe he's earned the right to act like an asshole. Many people seem to believe so. But if you act like an asshole because you can, you're still an asshole. Assholes aren't leaders. Favre is an asshole.

OHHH

lisa and wisgod are gonna be pissed at you

PSST.....(good work)

LOL

8 and 8??

I'm going to say they'll end up with 10 or 11 wins.

They looked good!

Raji signed.

The young guys are more seasoned. We still have our veterans.

I'm fired up!!!!

The only thing I'm upset about my dear friend is that there is no way I can be a Vikes fan.

The Pack did the absolute right thing for the team and their future by not taking him back.

Wooo Hoooo let the season roll!

I have my Packer slippers ready, my Packer earrings and necklace are front and center in my jewelry armoire, Packer jersey washed, Packer flag hanging...GO PACK!!!!

So the team didn't know if they were getting Favre back or if it would be wise to find another veteran QB or if they just had to rush their future QB before they felt he was ready.

So what? Start letting Rodgers practice as if he's going to play, and if Favre decides he wants to come back and you think he will be a better QB, then let him play instead. Where's the damage other than to Rodgers' ego?

Not only that, but what kind of a leader fucks with his teammates heads year in and year out like that? Leaders have to have credibility with their teammates. Acting like a diva just pisses people off.

I think every time he came back, his teammates were happy, because they know he can throw the ball. I doubt they care very much about drama. The fans seem a lot more broken up about it than any millionaire football player ever did.

"And for the 2nd straight year he's arriving late to camp despite starting with a new team. Should the rest of the Vikes follow that example?"

I think the concern was whether his arm would be ready. Maybe he wasn't ready for the grueling camp exercises and was concerned that he'd hurt his arm. It's not like he was signed by the Vikes and didn't show up. He just signed today.

Maybe he's earned the right to act like an asshole.

I think he's emotional. I don't think he's an asshole. He doesn't know what he wants.

Joe,

I think he just loves the game sooooo much, he's having a hard time letting go.

That said, he should have stayed retired the first time around. I like to see players go out when on top of their game instead of trying to relive those glory days and they end up not as remembered for as good as they really were.

I love Brett and wish him well (except against the Pack)

Oh, ok....and da Bears.

"Where's the damage other than to Rodgers' ego?"

Favre's credibility with his teammates?

"I think every time he came back, his teammates were happy..."

That doesn't make Favre a good guy or a leader. He left his teammates in the position to either not have a decent starting quarterback the next season or to have one. And when they found out they had one, they were happy. Doesn't mean they don't think Favre is an asshole for pulling his diva act. No Packer could say so and remain with the team anyway.

"He doesn't know what he wants."

Give me a break. He wants attention and he knows how to get it. He's been perfectly healthy and pulled the same act. Its not like I said this the first two times he pulled this crap but after a while you learn.

Sully:

I have to disagree slightly.

Favre is a good guy. And he's very down to earth and humble.
I have already stated he should have stayed retired but I think given a choice he would rather not have the media blitz that surrounds him.

Is this a one or two year contract?

"Favre's credibility with his teammates?"

He has pulled the "I'm retired, oh wait I'm back" routine before, and his teammates still caught the ball.

"That doesn't make Favre a good guy or a leader."

Never said it did. And his #1 job is to throw the football, not be a good guy or a leader. If he can do #1 I say to hell with the rest.

Again, I think Favre acts on emotion rather than logic. One day he thinks he's done, the next day he misses football and wants to come back. I can completely understand that feeling, but I'd be too embarrassed to act the way he does.

"If he can do #1 I say to hell with the rest."

I don't know if he can still play well. I doubt he'll be any good this year but I know he might be.

I was reacting to people saying he's a leader and kissing his ass all the time. Just called himself a leader on TV, in fact.

A guy at work heard that you should think of Bret Farve as a psycho ex-girlfriend who keeps trying to make you jealous by flirting in front of you with other guys. That having failed, she then dates your worst enemy, in a final pathetic attempt to make you see the error of breaking up with her, causeing you to come begging her to take her back.

Brett...I love you!! ...

Hey, Lisa, I just now took a look at the video to see what all the fuss was about.

No wonder you're in ♥! Brett's a cutie.

LOL

I used to carry his picture in my pocket at work then ask people if I've shown them a pic of my boyfriendm..and pull out Brett's picture!!

Wait...you've never seen the jeans commercial he did? Or the movie Something About Mary??

Girl....you gotta start watching football!!!

The guy who wrote this commentary -- a definite AZ Cardinals fan -- doesn''t sound all too pleased with Favre.

I like football but my broken heart never recovered when the Raiders left L.A.

I like the fast pace of men's pro basketball and I enjoy baseball.

As far as women's sports -- they all suck. Too boring.

They're skeered Chris!

Probably!

I couldn't get into your link though.

I just tried it now and it works. Hit it hard. I should come up.

I = It

I prefer watching college basketball over the pro's. Big name players don't usually get called for the fouls they commit.

I like baseball too.

I like watching Volleyball toom..men or womens but that's probably cause I lettered in it and the thrill of making someone suck air as you spike, still is lingering...LOL.

Too not toom!

Darn bberry keys are little and my nails are too long!

I didn't realize it was possible to sign a corpse.

#85 | Posted by Lisa

What percentage of the Pack do you own?

I personaly do not own stock in the Pack.

I know some who do.

But what does that matter? My point was to refute your claim that the owners and stockholders are the Packer organization.

The Packers are the only NFL team that is owned by the public.

The Viking Management needs to be replaced. I am a viking fan and over the years there seems to be disease that exists with all Vikings owners and management. Its give away the house at any cost. Years ago the Vikings traded away 10 years of players for Herchael Walker a running back that never produced in Minnesota. Now management offers a 39 year old has been who is coming off shoulder surgery a 2 year 25 million dollar contract. Favre has his better days behind him and will be lucky to last 8 games before he goes down to injury. Bringing in a player who wanted to skip fall practice after he retired for the umtienth time is not only demoralizing to the rest of the players but tells us fans we dont care about you. The SOB was only 6-10 for the packers at the dome so he's clearly not the trip we need.
I could do a better job running this club than present Viking Management.

Joelabey - You're supposed to be psyched about this. Turn on ESPN, they'll tell you if one of their anchors can remove his tongue from Favre's crack long enough to do so.... Sure Favre was a bad quaterback for 3 of his past 4 seasons and he's a year older with a partially torn rotator cuff now, but uhh..... he's got the enthusiasm of a umm little kid and ahh..... he's a great teammate even though his eh teammates never say so without any prompting and ... oh yeah... he never gives up except for the final six weeks of last season......

Hey, it could be worse. At least the Vikes didn't decide "We have the best running back in the league, lets get rid of our tight ends and fullbacks and go run and shoot!" the way Detroit did with Sanders back in the 90's. Dumbest NFL decision ever. Herschel Walker trade is a distant 2nd.

I've been saying it for years. Favre is just a little bitch.

What a fucking punk. I hope some DB knocks his ass out cold this year.
