Maureen Dowd: Sarah Palin put out a 2008 proclamation for Healthcare Decisions Day "to raise public awareness of the need to plan ahead for healthcare decisions, related to end of life care ... and to encourage the specific use of advance directives to communicate these important healthcare decisions." Consistency was long ago sent to a death panel in Palin world.

Palin thinks? News to me.

i wish she'd just go away.

paul ryan 2012!

Both Winkie and Newtie liked the idea until it showed up in a piece of legislation backd by the opposition. Good idea good until the other party embraced it.

Party over principal, party over country. the cry of the obstructionist Nopers

Palin, intellectually dishonest? This is a surprise to anyone?

Who's Paul Ryan?

And was that a Republican who just wished Sarah Palin would go away? Good on you, Nanc! I don't often agree with you...

Though I'm sort of hoping Palin will stick around--makes the Dems' job easier in 2012. : )

The best that can be said of the hatred of Palin is that it is heart felt. It is certainly without cause or insight.

Party over principal, party over country.

Really. What is it with blind partisans? You see them at both ends of the political spectrum and they are all fools.

Admitting that both ends of the political spectum is a demonstration of blind partisanship?

Care to explain>?

This seems to be helping Palin's polling numbers. She's doing better than Obama.

Care to explain?

I guess not. We'll just chalk #9 up as another cheap drive-by by briwo.

BTW, did you get that video I emailed you a couple of weeks ago that you requested? I did it the day after I got home last time.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, won't get fooled again.

Fool.

Fool me twice, won't get fooled again.

Bullshit. You aren't paying attention, are you?

You've got to admire Palin consistent inconsistency.

Maureen Dowd hates Sarah Palin! For Maureen to use Palins name is just a stunt to try and make the healthcare bill seem less radical.

Nice try but its not gonna work!

Dowdy Dowd is jealous of Palin because Palin is beautiful and really matters.

It is certainly without cause or insight.

It's because I can see SARAH!!'s stupid from my house. Lefties actually appreciate SARAH!! because she killed McLost's chances in 2008 and continues to torpedo independent support for the Party of No to this day.

Dowd is merely pointing out that SARAH!! is a hypocritical bag of shit. In other words, a perfect GOPper.

Palin once favored serving a full term as Governor of Alaska too.

Let me get this right. Palin actually said something that someone else could paraphrase correctly? Prove it.

i don't hate her - she, like the current potus, is NOT presidential material.

Isn't there a difference between planning for your own demise and going before a bunch of government weenies to let them decide?

"Dowdy Dowd is jealous of Palin because Palin is beautiful and really matters." Funniest shit I've read in at least a week.

Oh, and in case anyone aimed that at me, I neither hate nor am fearful of Sarah Palin. Don't like her much, but I don't have to like or not like a politician. And I don't think everyone who doesn't want her in a position of national leadership hates her or fears her. Just as not everyone who dislikes Obama is a racist. Though many of you seem to hate him and fear him. And think he's Marxist or socialist, which is just funny.

paul ryan 2012!

Screw that. That man wasn't happy with Geri Ryan.

The best that can be said of the hatred of Palin is that it is heart felt. It is certainly without cause or insight.

Zulu! You keep it interesting! There's ample reason and it doesn't take much insight. Let's take these two Palin quotes:

Democracy depends on you. And that is why - that's why our troops are willing to die for you. So, how about in honor of the American soldier, you quit making things up?

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care,"

So our Troops are dying so Sarah can "make things up?"

Excuse me, Jeri Ryan and that loser was Jack Ryan. I still get flustered over her...

I wonder how much of this article Dowd plagiarized?

Maureen is one dumb pig that needs a pack of wild mountain gorillas hopped up on Viagra and caffeine in a bad way.....

Without the ability to read the full article, I will say this: being in favor of the wisdom of end of life planning in general, while being opposed to the government paying doctors to virtually force it upon vulnerable patients are two different things.

In other words, I see a big difference between bringing awareness to an issue and forcing the issue.

"Excuse me, Jeri Ryan and that loser was Jack Ryan. I still get flustered over her..."

I was just about to correct you. Any excuse to post pics of Jeri.

Of course that lead me over to google images. Again...

Worth it, too.

I guess. If you like the "light in his loafers" look.

Sara Plain knows all about taking the life out of old people, just ask the McCain campaign.

This seems to be helping Palin's polling numbers. She's doing better than Obama.

Hell, she couldn't even handle her term as Governor.

Would someone please drag the Sara 'Cant even handle being a Governor' Palin before this 'Death Panel' and just get it over with already.

Why? Afraid that the dems will lose if the republicans run a halfway decent candidate? LOL

You're probably right!

You forgot one little thing. SHE LOST!

And Obama's numbers are currently lower than the loser's?

Wow. That sucks for Obama having sunk to a level lower than the loser

Good to know that you think she a shitty candidate too.

Where were Bush's numbers before 9/11? Oh yeah, in the crapper! But hey, polls don't matter right?

Either way, it's not like you get to have your way just because his numbers are currently low. Your clown still lost.

Good to know that you think she a shitty candidate too.

As I've been saying since I first heard her name last year, the only thing I like about her is her looks. She's a hot MILF. I wouldn't kick her out of bed.

Either way, it's not like you get to have your way just because his numbers are currently low.

I know.

Your clown still lost.

I knew Nader had no chance of winning when I voted for him.

Must have been a write-in as Nader wasn't on the ballot in Texas.

Must have been a write-in as Nader wasn't on the ballot in Texas.

IT was either him or Kinky Friedman. And Nader had the third best chance of winning.

This seems to be helping Palin's polling numbers. She's doing better than Obama.

The latest poll I found, taken after she quit as Gov but before her entry into the health care debate doesn't look good:

Thirty-nine percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday have a favorable opinion of the former Alaska governor and last year's Republican vice presidential nominee. That's down seven points from a poll conducted in May, and it's also nine points lower than the 48 percent who now say they now view Palin unfavorably. Forty-three percent viewed Palin negatively in May.

Most of that change has come among Republicans and conservatives," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com

"IT was either him or Kinky Friedman. And Nader had the third best chance of winning."

That's odd. After talking so much about voting for Nader, Goatman doesn't know who he voted for.

And Obama once favored closing Gitmo, tax cuts for everyone making less than $250,000, pay-as-you-go, and troops out of Iraq by Spring 2009. Palin is a former AK governor, Obama is the current president. Where are MoDo's articles about how she was lied to by the guy she voted for?

mo dowd has turned herself, much like other so called journalists now, into just a shill for the obama white house so why should we even read what she has to say...
in last column she talked about the us being a 'democracy'.

uh sorry maam but its not..

of course I would still BOINK her anytime...and I wouldnt have to listen to that WHINEY voice either..

if you KNOW what I mean..........

Too bad Maureen like many others can't tell the difference between the gov't paying people to intrude and the folks doing the checking themselves with an Awareness Day.

Dowd is a moron. I've never heard of anyone with half a brain say anything other than that advance directives are important.

Of course they are. Even providing coverage for counselors was o.k. The issue is when the govt. takes over decisions on what is covered or not, which is a separate issue. Separate issue meat, a separate issue.

Palin is no longer governor. She has a facebook account.

AND YET, Libtards are still concerned about this woman who "doesn't have a chance!" ???

Keep pretending you're not concerned Libs. LOL...LOL

Consistency was long ago sent to a death panel in Palin world

Lawl.

Ah, Mo.

So droll.

Not much to add to OWS's post at #4.

Both Winkie and Newtie liked the idea until it showed up in a piece of legislation backd by the opposition. Good idea good until the other party embraced it.

Party over principal, party over country. the cry of the obstructionist Nopers.

-OWS

According to Murph and Somo this isn't about living wills at all but about the government making life and death decisions.

More properly this is about Government taking the ability to deny coverage away from the semi-monopolistic health insurance industry.

At present when yer claim is turned down their bottom line goes up.

Government run health care is superior to corporate care in that if it fails to cover large numbers of people or deny treatment due to technicalities then those responsible for those decisions are subject to getting fired at the polls.

When health care insurers deny coverage they give themselves bonuses.

See the difference?

Basically, the argument boils down to this...

Some folks, particularily those on the right, remain convinced that government run healthcare would definitely garner worse results than wot you got right now and Spud just doesn't think that's even possible.

Nobody on this planet gets as little health care bang fer their buck than Americans do.

How could anyone possibly fuck that up even more?

Be Well.

Maureen Dowd, once again, hits the nail on the head. She's the preeminent opinion writer of our time and her prose-like style is utterly beautiful to read.

My only problem is why even talk about this pathetic quitter/loser? Sarah Palin will never, ever be elected to a national office. Her 15 minutes of fame elapsed long ago. Though I can see why democrats want to continue talking about her -- it's catastrophic for the GOP to have her as its mouthpiece -- Maureen Dowd should move on to more pertinent subjects than one who couldn't even get through a full term as governor.

Encouraging the private use of advance directives is not the same as government-mandated "end of life counseling," especially when the latter is in the context of a government-run health insurance program that will likely be perpetually under-funded, thus making particular "suggestions" during the "counseling" more likely.

But despite all that, you'd think lefties would be against end of life planning if Palin was in favor of it. Oh well.

Sarah palin did'nt need a halfass group of morons lik acorn to drum up an audience for her speeches, people came from miles around on their own to hear or see her.
Welcome to the obamanation of desolation, where lies become policy, to circumvent and weaken the U.S.Constitution into meaningless gibberish.
the new banana republic, or as the marxist like to call it " camel lot " halacka halacka , helanga, helanga, simply translated " 2 humps or 1, jsut as much fun" second only to cuba, venezuela.

I hope obama fails, so America will succeed.

Where is Obama or his administration weakening the US Constitution. Please explain. There's stuff here, in their actions, that I don't like, but I don't see weakening of the Constitution. Fairly, that may be because I've not heard or read the specific action leading to that. I'm willing to be enlightened. (But please don't simply interpret. Show me the act or action or statement that weakens.)

I believe the U.S. should have requirements for anyone running for office.
#1 - they definitely have to know the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground.
#2 - They have to know the Bill of Rights, what it simply says, not what they can twist and spin it to say for their own power grab.
#3 - they obey the Constitutions guidelines.
#4 - understand that illegals are, well, uh, illegal, and they are breaking the law, and will even more so when they are in the country.
#5 - they understand that it costs Americans 35 billion dollars a year to educate and give them free health care.
#6 - required to show proof that they were born in the U.S., and not some crayon scribbled note from rahm emanuel.
#7 - that we are a Christian nation, that there is no wall between church and state, just a guarantee the the U.S. government will not adopt a national religion like global warming, abortion, liberalism, marxism, communism, health care..... only opens the door to circumvent other laws, allowing for the statists to spread their brain disease, and make it a precedent.
#8 - realize we are a capitalist nation, that liberalism, socialism, communism, marxism are mental deficiencies, or brain rot, that needs to stamped out in our lifetime, so ass not to infect the next generations. We want to stay Americans, individuals, not tied down with paying for someone elses free ride, we want our freedom/liberty and no administration will be given thepowerto oppress America like this moron soiling the White House.
#9 - that the American people don't want to change America, by supporting the parasites on the left.

These are just a few of the prereq's.

That being said, welcome to the obamanation of desolation, the new banana republic of the kenyon born leader baracccchhhhh! or simply, the new afl/cio u.a.w. controled " camel lot ", where hope and change is nothing more than dope and derranged.

Lord God please help obama fail, so America will succeed. Amen!
The veneer are coming off all these marxist clowns, America has had a chance to see how they have circumvented their Constitution, and the hippies of the 60s have screwed the pooch.

I believe the U.S. should have requirements for anyone running for office:
#1 - they definitely have to know the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground.

Thereby eliminating all republican conservatives. they do know, however, how to Drill, Baby, Drill. Which is Heterosexually Approved.

#2 - They have to know the Bill of Rights, what it simply says, not what they can twist and spin it to say for their own power grab.

Thereby eliminating all Republicans who think that the bill of rights is soley for WHite Straight Male Christians, and not for Women, People of Color, or Gays and Lesbians.

#3 - they obey the Constitutions guidelines.

Thereby eliminating Republicans who think the constitution is a 'GODDAMNED PIECE OF PAPER!

#4 - understand that illegals are, well, uh, illegal, and they are breaking the law, and will even more so when they are in the country.

Thereby eliminating Republicans who hire the Illegals by the truckload for their monster corporations which end up eliminating American Middle and lower class workers, who actually deserve a decent paying job.

#5 - they understand that it costs Americans 35 billion dollars a year to educate and give them free health care.

Thereby eliminating Republicans who think it's more important to have 15000 Nuclear Missles at a cost of 2 billion (for up-keep) each missle, which is obviously more important than having a healthy and educated public whom just might question republican sanity.

#6 - required to show proof that they were born in the U.S., and not some crayon scribbled note from rahm emanuel.

Thereby Eliminating republicans who wouldn't believe it if you waived a goddamn Birth Certificate in their face...

#7 - that we are a Christian nation, that there is no wall between church and state, just a guarantee the the U.S. government will not adopt a national religion like global warming, abortion, liberalism, marxism, communism, health care.....

Thereby eliminating the FOUNDERS of America who were clear as ice when they wrote that this was NOT a Christian Country (See the Treaty of Tripoli, Section 11, as written by John Adams)... and that the rights of the people were bestowed upon them by THEIR OWN IDEA OF A CREATOR (not the christian Jesus, Not the christian 'Lord').

#8 - realize we are a capitalist nation, that liberalism, socialism, communism, marxism are mental deficiencies, or brain rot, that needs to stamped out in our lifetime, so ass not to infect the next generations.

Thereby eliminating Republicans who a) Cannot uderstand that Capitalism is NOT a form of gorvernment, and that b) Corporate Welfare, republicans' favorite form of Socialism has DESTROYED American in 8 short years.

#9 - that the American people don't want to change America, by supporting the parasites on the left.

Thereby eliminating all ASSHATS like you, who refuse to understand that the MAJORITY of AMERICANS voted FOR CHANGE...and were willing to throw out every last christian repugnlican who could not steal their own election - again.

But thanks for playing, MORON.

Well said comrade Dumpling, well said.

Is it just me, or is the number of wingnuts growing by the day? (I may be an idealistic grammar policing pain in the ass, but wingnut no.)

Prag. I think you're just moving more to the left, away from the rest of the country. That's pretty odd, though. You'd actually expect people to become smarter as they get older, but it just doesn't work out that way sometimes.

Keep pretending you're not concerned Libs. LOL...LOL

See Goat, this is exactly the thing I was talking about in my post. We're always told we're 'afraid' of the Quitter.

You asked:

"Why? Afraid that the dems will lose if the republicans run a halfway decent candidate? LOL

I replied:

I'm always being told by FAUX News and your fellow righties on here that I'm 'afraid of Palin'. So, I say 'Run her' and let's see.

See Goat, this is exactly the thing I was talking about in my post. We're always told we're 'afraid' of the Quitter.

I understand. But still, if the best interest of the country was being considered people would say to their opponent, "Run your best guy and let the best man win". However, if it is simply a 'gotcha' moment you are after so you can gloat, "See, I told you so", (as you admit to wanting) then I understand your reason for saying "Run Sarah, run!".

Commondense and the rest of the leftards are so worried about Palin, they aren't aware of Pelosi dismantling their Party. Keep up the good work, girls.

"Commondense and the rest of the leftards are so worried about Palin"

You people crack me up. Palin is a leftie's dream candidate. I'll register Republican to vote for her in the 2012 primaries, if she doesn't self-destruct by then.

You people crack me up. Palin is a leftie's dream candidate.

Serious question, null: Do you want what's best for this country, or do you want to have a one time partisan moment to say, "We told you so" about Sarah Palin?

If the former, wouldn't you want the other parties to put their best people on the ballot and let the voters choose amongst them? Why would you want the other party to put their losers up unless you are a party over country person who only wants that moment to gloat on the morning of Wednesday November, 2012?

"Serious question, null: Do you want what's best for this country,"

Of course I do, and IMO what's best for the country is for rtards to be stomped into the mud.

If the Republicans can be driven down into the single digit range, it opens up possibilities for new parties.

And if I could go out in the backyard and harvest a twelve pack of Miller High Life off a fucking tree, I'd drink it.

IOW, you don't want them to put their best person on the ballot and let the voters decide?

IOW, you don't want them to put their best person on the ballot and let the voters decide?

I thought you were voting for whoever is the 3rd party candidate. Strengthen that party. Why would you care who the GOP runs?

I thought you were voting for whoever is the 3rd party candidate. Strengthen that party.

I do if I don't like either of the other two. If I do like one of them, but it is certain they'll carry my state, I still go the third party. However, if I like one of the two main party candidates and I'm not sure that he'll carry my state, I'll vote for him.

Why would you care who the GOP runs?

That's unrelated to my question to null (or anyone else who wants to answer) anyway.

Got it. It just seemed contradictory to your wish for a strong 3rd party. I was curious.

Thanks for the giggle, Somoco. (Actually, I'm fairly in the center compared to many, especially on DR.)

What is your peoples obsession with Palin anyway?

The more people hear about Palin the less they hear how your messiah is wrecking our economy.

This endless Rightnut harangue really ought to be copied and sent around to thinking folks as embodying everything that The Party Of No does stand for:

Christianity forced down the throats of the unwilling. Capitalism, that economic system which has patently, blatantly failed because its computers wrote PEOPLE out of the equation.

These people struggle hellbent against their own health care, against mending a broken system that threatens their own survival. Hatred of a dark complexion in the White House does drive bigots to untenable positions. herm

Palin.. Rush is correct in this.. the left is SCARED TO DEATH OF SARAH PALIN.. there's no other logical reason for the continual and unrelenting attacks on her by every left wing nut with a keyboard.
