You do realize Eddie, that Ronnie's speech was in opposition to Medicare. Why don't you ask protesters at the town hall meetings what they think of anyone who would try to take it away today.

Ronnie is absolutely right. Republican Congressional candidates this is your call to action. You must do away with Medicare. Make it part of the platform.

I'm sure Ron and Nancy didn't allow any public money to be spent on his Alzheimer's treatment and his end of life care.

Helath care reform? We don't need it. And you can shove Medicare up your collectivist asses, too. Oh, and Social Security? Privatize it or lose it! ~The New-Old-Born Again Party of No Formula for Success

The funny thing is that Ole Ronny was proved to be wrong. He was talking about Medicare which was passed four years later. We have now had medicare for over 40 years, but the government has not told doctors where to work. Reagan was wrong.

Reagan was wrong.
Consistently.

Pretty bad when the Right has to resurrect people from the grave in order to get one more voice to oppose healthcare reform, particularly when you consider that Reagan enjoyed (and his wife continues to to this day) the benefits of government paid healthcare (first by the State of California and then later by the Federal Government) for the last 30 years or so of his life.

Pretty bad when the Right has to resurrect people from the grave ...
But I'm sure you are fine with the left resurrecting people, right? Just a few days ago someone was mentioning that Roosevelt was for National Health care.
Or am I wrong? Do you feel that was bad, too, or do you adhere to a double standard?

Single Payer prices logically rather than for-profit.
Single Payer saves so much money we would all be entirely free from medical insurance entirely - and everyone would be cared for.
Watch Sicko - the English new mothers are laughing when asked how much they have to pay for the six month maternity room she is provided. They laugh at us.
Medical Insurance companies are parasites.

I guess it's easy to ignore history when you are ignorant of it.
Dominant theories of socialized medicine in the late '50s and onward called for the government to have sweeping, complete control of everything from owning hospitals to setting physician salaries.
One vestige of that was Hillary's plan to let bureaucrats decide what specialty a doctor would spend his career in. If a doctor has an affinity for orthopedic surgery, Hillary! was happy telling him to become an OB/GYN.
During the 1964-1965 debates on Medicare Congress was forced to insert specific language to protect doctors and private hospitals -- that was the price for some key votes.
So, you could say that Reagan was successful by warning of these dangers and raising awareness.

The only problem with Medicare is that 50% of the money sent to washington is spent on bureaucracy then the other 50% gets spent on patients.
We would all be better off if they just gave medicare patients the money directly and let them buy their own health care coverage.
But hey, then the democrats couldn't control it and tell you what a wonderful job they were doing and that you couldn't live without them.
Democrats want to force people to be dependent on them so they can get their votes by scaring them that republicans will take away their free lunch.

Link?
"We would all be better off if they just gave medicare patients the money directly and let them buy their own health care coverage."
Absolutely clueless.

Absolutely NOT true.
Myth: A plan with a Public Option would force everybody onto government insurance, bankrupt insurance companies, and lead to rationed health care.
Fact: A public option is simply a mechanism which would force insurance companies to reduce their overhead and the outrageous dividends as paid to shareholders and executives in order to provide quality care for less money. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, administrative overhead accounts for 31% of all health care costs in United States; for almost 12% of the costs of private insurance plans; for Medicare, overhead runs at 3.6%.
