By a vote of 68-31, Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed by the US Senate late Thursday afternoon. With this historic vote, Sotomayor will now become the Supreme Court's 111th justice. She is also the first Hispanic justice, and only the third female justice in the court's history.
She is slated to be sworn in on Friday, and President Obama is expected to make some remarks shortly.
The Hill noted the "modest display of bipartisan support."
