Detainees May Be Moved to New U.S. Prison...

As well it should be. Closing GITMO and moving those detainees to a prison in the USA is a long overdue move in ending a national disgrace. The whole argument of "not in my district" is baldfaced political theater. As the world's leader in incarceration, the USA is eminently qualified to operate a Supermax prison on US soil for terrorists. Keeping these people overseas (GITMO) was a calculated and cowardly act engineered by BUSHCO to avert US Law and congressional oversight. Result? A torture chamber that disgraced America's moral authority and standing in the world, and kangaroo courts that yielded minimal convictions. In short, a complete, dismal and utter failure.

Bring these prisoners to the US is the right thing to do. How in the world can the US expect other countries to take them off our hands when we refuse to bring them to the US? It makes no sense. I like the idea of courtroom and prison together so that there is no need to shuttle them from place to place. Holding these people without trial is a festering sore on our image in the world today and it must be healed. The president is on the right track.

DO NOT let the looney Republicans take control of this issue. Do the right thing.

America incarcerates more of it's citizenry per capita than any other comparable sized nation on earth.

Where better to bring these detainees who are guilty than to the country with the most experience?

2008 and previous were when the crises we are dealing with in 2009 began. We are dealing with grown up problems now, and trying to correct for the childlike behavior of the previous administration, so take it easy and check back in 2011 when you can hopefully see that everything is going just fine. No doubt you'll be picking your Republican horse for the next race by then regardless.
