It is surely the biggest Big Brother project yet conceived. India is to issue each of its 1.2 billion citizens, millions of whom live in remote villages and possess no documentary proof of existence, with cyber-age biometric identity cards. The task will be led by Nandan Nilekani, who coined the phrase "the world is flat", which became a mantra for supporters of globalisation." ... But we have the opportunity to give every Indian citizen, for the first time, a unique identity. We can transform the country." The card will include a computer chip with a fingerprint or an iris scan. It may even be tied to criminal and credit histories. With about 7 percent of Indian society registered to pay income tax, this new database will certainly aid in the government's collection of funds.

If we had a card like that here and used it for voter identification. dems couldn't be elected to anything ever again.

WRONG! if we had a card like that REPUBLICANS would never vote, because the book of revelations tells them its the mark of the beast... they would never get the RFID cards or implants or any of that crap. or risk going to HECK!
so, even though i'm against it, i'm for it before i'm against it, because at least the average voter IQ gets raised in the process... oh, we're talking about INDIA though... yeah, it's wrong there, too.

If we had a card like that for employment our illegal alien problem would be swimming south over the Rio Grande.

If we had a card like that for admission to schools and hospitals, their financial problems would disapear south over the Rio Grande.

For employment purposes, it would be no better than a SS card. Employers that want to will still ignore the law.

Why don't atheist lib scum fucks like SONOFSAMMYY quote from their own Commie Manifesto instead of the Bible.

If we had a card like that it would be easier to catch muslim terrorist inside our country during random Mosque round ups.

Sounds like one of our friends from the right side of the fence needs to read his own Bible to know that the name calling and foul language are not part of being a good Christian.

"Workers of the world unite"

If we had a card like that here and used it for voter identification. dems couldn't be elected to anything ever again.

This statement is so stupid that it's embarassing to post on the same message board.

There are no liberal democrats. Not one.

Fwthom?

Do you pray with that mouth?

Better to quote the Bible and be on the left side of the political fence than to claim one is a right sided Christian and not give witness to the teachings of the Bible that you critize someone else for quoting.

FYI...I am not a liberal.

"Workers of the world unite"

It's Wednesday Bruce laid off the sauce

Bush and the Dem legislature tried this. My Governor and our state legislature unanimously agreed it was bull shit. Montana was the last state left in the way. As a result Real ID failed, at least so far. You're all welcome.

RE: #10
FWThom, i'm not an atheist, or a liberal, really.
and i never finished the communist manifesto.
but i have read the bible a bunch of times. your bible. jesus would have hated the idea of biometric IDs, RFIDs, and the like. he also hated the idea of borders, classes, war, and politics in general. jesus would have laughed at the concept of forsaking individual rights in the name of 'national security,' and then he would have spit in your face. :)

You may now call me "Nostradamus".

In my next quatrain, I will reveal the secret to world peace.

"If we had a card like that here and used it for voter identification. dems couldn't be elected to anything ever again.

Don't worry I'm sure you could easily come up with another conspiracy theory. I'll even give you a few ideas for you to float around your next gay train: WALNUT, COCONUT, PINE NUT, MACADAMIA and the granddaddy of them all PEANUT

Pakistan has had NICs (National ID Cards) since the 70s. Doing anything without those is impossible.

They are convenient to use and solve many problems.

These days they are linked to one of the largest databases on earth... NADRA... which is had proven VERY valuable against "taliban", crooks, infiltrators and various bad guys.

India has finally woken up... too late I think... to use the the same idea.

I said "too late" because a third of India (an area larger than Pakistan) is out of Govt. control and in the hands of people like the Naxalites and Maoists who murder Govt. workers and cops whenever they feel like.

So I wish them luck. It's a great idea... if they can make it work.

Lisa, Potty mouth aside, I think FWT was responding to Sammy's stupid comment and mocking of Scripture.

(Sammy is also misquoting Scripture; the Book of Revelation is about the persecution of the church during the First Century. The idea that it is about some future end-of-the-world only came about in the 18th Century by the Millerites -- a heretical group that morphed into the Seventh Day Adventists)

On topic, many countries have national ID cards. It's no big deal. Everyone in my family has an ARC (Alien Resident Card).

When I return to Taiwan from a business trip they don't even ask for my passport at the airport half the time. They want to see my ARC, which was issued by their government.

Jeff, give Let-U-Spray a break. At least he managed a whole (one-sentence) post without mentioning Bush. You know that had to be a struggle.

I'm neither a Republican nor a Christian. I wouldn't get an implant either. RFID Chips are nearly impossible to avoid because they're already being put into things. Debit/ATM cards. Passports already have them. I can shield those items, if necessary. An implant, on the other hand, is an invasion of my privacy. It has nothing to do with "the mark" or any other religious beliefs.

I think loony left cock suckers like Lisa should decide if they believe in the Bible, want to hide behind it or just trash it. Why don't you MFers ever quote the Manifesto?

I've had my own disagreements with Lisa, but if there's a heaven and a God, you're probably not going to meet him. I'll save you a seat on the bus to Hell. You want window or aisle?

Pakistan has had NICs (National ID Cards) since the 70s. Doing anything without those is impossible.

And one day, someone decides that a segment of the population doesn't deserve to be called Pakistani. Then they turn them off. Ahh, good times.

There are no liberal democrats. Not one.

I think that's what the "hope" was for.

And one day, someone decides that a segment of the population doesn't deserve to be called Pakistani.

That's against the Constitution buddy. Can't happen.

We can talk about India and not see the bigger picture. What about biometrics infiltration beyond "cards" already here in US?

We have already seen human biometrics use in supermarkets, border security, theme parks, banking, employment screening (the few I'm aware of) and numerous cases of marketing of "voluntary" uses such as pets, children, implanted microchips.

National ID Cards ... They are convenient to use and solve many problems.

So I wish them luck. It's a great idea... if they can make it work.

Yes, you're a Good Little Communist, Wanker. Lenin and Marx would be proud of you.

That's against the Constitution buddy. Can't happen.

*guffaw*! okay. keep telling yourself that. you need only look at the multitude of examples across the planet to see that having something written in a constitution is meaningless when the population protected by said constitution is complacent.

I point you toward Washington, DC.

I point you toward Washington, DC.

The US is hardly the example of a functioning democracy one should use.

Over here, there is a thing called "Constitutional Petition" which one is free to submit into the Supreme Court and which can bring down a Prime Minister or two.

Just one reason, that is.

It can't happen for a variety of reasons even if the Govt. wants it to. Too many checks and balances.

Yes, you're a Good Little Communist, Wanker.

Nothing to do with being a Commie, Zit.

........the Bible is funnier........

Judging from the responses above, Americans are... for some reason... afraid to stand up and be counted.

I don't understand what the fuss is about?

This is not communism at all. This is all about security. My fingerprints are on file in the NADRA database and are encoded with other data on a bar-code on my card.

That card is me.. nobody can steal my identity. It's a good thing.

If we didn't have NADRA... if we didn't have CNICs (Computerized National ID Cards)... it would have been a lot easier for the taliban-types to sneak in and pretend to be from this country and spread havoc all over the place.

ID cards are a life-saver.

On topic, many countries have national ID cards. It's no big deal. Everyone in my family has an ARC (Alien Resident Card).

Google what countries have and don't have i.d. cards. It's quite revealing.

My fingerprints are on file in the NADRA database

you may volunteer what you wish. Americans have constitutional rights to their privacy. Once that is "taken", it's a slippery slope of what is next.

it would have been a lot easier for the taliban-types to sneak in and pretend to be from this country and spread havoc all over the place

As far as the "zombie fear" they keep propagating to pass draconian laws to strengthen the executive branch and steal our personal liberties, your idea further does more of the same. All the details behind those truths are slowly coming out little by little as Cheney is now in very hot water.

Judging from the responses above, Americans are... for some reason... afraid to stand up and be counted.

No, Wanker. We don't want to be tagged like cattle.

We do not want to be required to have to show our papers at the behest of some nosy apparatchik of the state when simply walking down the street.

Those of who who think and are responsible have no need or desire to have the state further control our actions, our choices, our lives.

You want the state to be your mommy, your choice. Stay where you are. Make sure you show your papers to that sneering brown shirt or you will feel the baton of authority on your back. Or maybe you won't because you already have the jackboot of the state on the back of your neck pressing the free life out of you.

We do not want to live in fear or our government.

No, Wanker.

Yes, Zit.

We don't want to be tagged like cattle.

You already are so stop complaining.

Or maybe you won't because you already have the jackboot of the state on the back of your neck pressing the free life out of you.

What drama! Bravo! Oscar Award performance!

clap clap clap

We do not want to live in fear or our government.

But you do live in fear. Orange alert, yellow alert, red alert, WMDs under your bed...

You let a Chimp steal an election because you were afraid.

Now you have an empty suit in office because Cheney scared you shitless. LOL

In the last 20 years, I have not had to show my ID to a cop. Why would I have to?

All this talk of people like Zit, that they will ask for your papers at every street corner is just spoken out of fear of the unknown.

Or rather, fear of the American state.

The lessons of history elude you it seems, Wanker.

The lessons of history elude you it seems, Wanker.

My history is not your history, Snot.

In my history, an ID card is a GOOD thing.

But that's my history.

I wonder what India will make of it?

History is history, Wanker.

I suppose you'll welcome the personal RFID then; why carry that bulky ID card when they can perform deep implantation. I can only surmise where you'll tell them to stick it...

History is history, Wanker.

Not necessarily, Snot.

why carry that bulky ID card when they can perform deep implantation.

You have quite an imagination, Snot.

Nobody needs to implant anything in anyone since the new ID cards carry an RFID chip on them.

Nobody needs to implant anything in anyone since the new ID cards carry an RFID chip on them.

#48 | Posted by Tosser

You are a greater fool then, Wanker, than I would have believed if you think that They will stop at a card considering the tech that is available today.

Deep implantation will be the technique employed so that people cannot easily dig the unit out. A surface implant is too easily removed where one stuck deep into the body cavity, or even directly inserted into the folds of the brain, will preclude removal except at great risk.

An implant can't be lost, transferred, destroyed, set aside, or powered down. It could be tampered with if one has the appropriate tech.

But then again, your "Not necessarily" comment indicates you lack the capacity to analyze and extrapolate where this lead and how far it will go Amazing that fools such as yourself blithely accept it as a Good Thing to keep you safe and " can't understand what the fuss is about."

"You have quite an imagination, "

You are totally bereft of one.

Are you all quite willing to be nothing more than counted cattle over there?

Nobody needs to implant anything in anyone since the new ID cards carry an RFID chip on them.

"In today's news, Congress has moved to pass law that would require all citizen carriers of the National ID Card to be implanted with new RFID Chips. This legislation is in response to the theft or loss of National ID Cards."

Slippery. Slope.

Tosser, you know how people like to make generalizations about you based on where you come from? You're guilty of the same.

You are a greater fool then, Wanker

You have watched too many movies, Snot.

They

Bloody schizo... LOL

I don't watch the kind of movies you do.

Tosser, you know how people like to make generalizations about you based on where you come from?

Sure.

Shows everyone how typically stupid you guys over there are.

You're guilty of the same.

I don't think so.

This legislation is in response to the theft or loss of National ID Cards.

Lost/stolen card is reported and flagged. Since it's got your pic on it (plus other data) it is useless for anyone else anyway.

Apply for a new card and you will get it in a few days.

No drama.

Lost/stolen card is reported and flagged. Since it's got your pic on it (plus other data) it is useless for anyone else anyway.

Driver's license have a picture on them too. Doesn't stop them from being used by minors to purchase alcohol.

Apply for a new card and you will get it in a few days.

Meanwhile, hope you don't need it for anything.

You can have all of the ability to petition your government you want. If the government is run by people who decide to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to you, your power is worthless.

History repeats itself. Your country is not immune.

I don't think so.

*ahem*

Sure.

Shows everyone how typically stupid you guys over there are.

Yep. No generalizations in that statement at all.

They can't even tell themselves apart.

Does Jindu the Hindu get one, since he was born there? I mean, nobody has produced an American Bobby Jindal birth certificate.

Meanwhile, hope you don't need it for anything.

They issue a receipt that the card in process. That piece of paper is enough for emergency use.

If the government is run by people who decide to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to you, your power is worthless.

I was talking of the courts. It's their job to fuck the Govt. if they have to.

Driver's license have a picture on them too. Doesn't stop them from being used by minors to purchase alcohol.

The pic is imprinted onto the plastic of the card. You can't tack another pic on it.... it will be seen.

I was advocating a similar ID be issued in Iraq (and now Afghanistan), so that if a person does not have one, or is out of his area, he can be treated appropriately, hanged or whatever, and a person not registered would not be able to get food except through a black market.

Tosser, you know how people like to make generalizations about you based on where you come from? You're guilty of the same.

What's wrong with genralizations. What kind of reasoning would disappear without generalizations, inductive or deductive? Or does it matter?

www.nakedscience.org

Excerpt:

Deductive reasoning arrives at a specific conclusion based on generalizations. Inductive reasoning takes events and makes generalizations

Axiom opposes generalizations. Ergo, Axiom is opposed to reason.

Gosh, when yoiu criticize this fellow Tosser, I need to rise to his defense as he is a minority, an abhorred minority inputting here and often made to feel unwelcome as he is the target of jibes and arrows of outrageous comment; merited, but outrageous.

Johnson syllogizes, "Axiom opposes generalizations. Ergo, Axiom is opposed to reason."

An oxymoron, very funny!

Hark! Did I hear yonder Fundo speaketh?

Nawww... must have been someone farting.

I need to rise to his defense

Try watching and reading fact instead of fiction, Wanker.

"Consider the human body as well. Applied Digital Solutions has designed an RFID tag - called the VeriChip - for people. Only 11 mm long, it is designed to go under the skin, where it can be read from four feet away. They sell it as a great way to keep track of children, Alzheimer's patients in danger of wandering, and anyone else with a medical disability, but it gives me the creeps. The possibilities are scary. In May, delegates to the Chinese Communist Party Congress were required to wear an RFID-equipped badge at all times so their movements could be tracked and recorded. Is there any doubt that, in a few years, those badges will be replaced by VeriChip-like devices?"

And much more here concerning RIFDs and chips, benefits and abuses:

Source:

www.securityfocus.com

(Note that this article was published back in 2003.)

And there may come a point in my employment milieu because of the type of work I do at which I may be required to be implanted because of increasing security issues and the risk of IDs, badges, entry codes, etc., being co=-opted. And that will be a major decision point for me. Do I want to be chipped as a requirement to keep my job?

Do I want to be chipped as a requirement to keep my job?

I would become a homeless beggar on the streets first. I think there are enough people who agree that the workplace would collapse due to lack of workers.

Try watching and reading fact instead of fiction, Wanker.

What you call facts, is garbage that doesn't apply to me, and what I call facts are beyond your understanding, Snot.

I wonder. There are those like the Wanker who would cheerfully welcome being chipped; easier than carrying around that pesky RFID card, keep 'em safe and counted.

The tech is already here. How many concerned parents well voluntarily have their kids chipped up. How about when the schools start requiring kids to be chipped to ensure their safety? How many parents will have the "eh whatever" attitude? Wanker has not a fucking clue what he is so gleefully advocating.

I suppose that we will eventually have to learn one of two new languages: Ovish (baaaaaaa!) or Bovish (moooooooo!). (Sorry Goat. Though Caprish may sound similar to Ovish, it will not acceptable in the New Wanker Order.)

How many concerned parents well voluntarily have their kids chipped up.

Too many, I'm afraid. I was surprised how many had their kids fingerprinted when that was the craze a few years ago.

Caprish

LOL

(or is that 'baaahaaaahaaaahaaaa')

Are you innately so incredibly obtuse or do you take classes?

Whatever fears you have mentioned are not borne out by my experience.

It's just a damn card with your data on it that makes things easy for good people and hard for bad people. It has been working well since the 70s.

Case closed. "Slippery slope" is just nonsense.
