Irish doctors may hold the key to early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers were able to correctly identify 95 percent of 345 people who had progressed from mild cognitive impairment to early Alzheimer's. An early diagnosis could help stave off the debilitating effects of the disease.

The Lead Researcher, unfortunately, already has Alzheimer's-and promptly forgot where he put the research papers........

Film at 11....

I mean I guess it would be kinda nice to be able to slow down the progression of the disease. But it also is a really shitty diagnosis to get and it's going to be depressing as hell to know what's coming when you're still with it.

"Mild cognitive impairment" is how I describe the two major American political parties. Alzheimer's is the inevitable result.

There are two major parties?
You could have fooled me ....wait ... what were we talking about?

How the hell did I get on this thread?

Next question-who the hell are you?
Fuck that-who the hell am I?

"Mild cognitive impairment" is how I describe The Dems.

Seriously deluded dangerous, and in denial-is how I describe Rtards.

The Dems could be helped with some mild meds.

The Repubs? Not so much, it'd take some serious meds, as well as shock therapy, and years of psychotherapy-to even begin to make a dent in those solid steel noggins......

I thought the first sign was participating in online forums......

Glad to see that Jimmy Carter is contributing to the advancement of medical science. Too bad they couldn't have discovered his problem in 1976.

Yes, discovering Reagan's Alzheimer's in 1976 would have been a boon to mankind.

The key symptom is creating a Drudge Retort account.

The real issue is testing younger males, particularly high school age - which is forbidden in American studies. But then the AMA couldn't sell us one of the three experimental beta-blockers, and that wouldn't be fair to insurance agencies to pay for "experimental" treatments earlier in life which results in possible life-extension, would it?

Btw - they are measuring the brain density, determining how much tissue has become spongiform. And I will assume that 100% studied are adult.

I found the cure for alzheimers.

But I can't remember where I put it.

Keep your brain "fit" by challenging yourself cognitively and seeking out novel stimulation...to hell with any medications being proffered by those in a position to profit!

Here is a decent introduction to how the brain is capable of rewiring itself.

Neuroplasticity.......learn it, live it, love it!

Preventative mental health is the name of the game here...

Finding a Psychiatrist or Psychologist who doesn't pronounce you cured directly AFTER your insurance money runs out and you can no longer afford the treatment might help!

But, if this will lead to something definative, more power to them!

So what? ObamaCare won't be allowing such treatment for the elderly. That wouldn't be cost effective.

I'll tell you what will be a fantastic predictor for early-onset Alzheimer's....just find those who voted for the Fuhrer.....In a year or so, they will all have forgotten they voted for him....There, I just saved billions of dollars!

Too late for HERM I am afraid.

.In a year or so, they will all have forgotten they voted for him....There, I just saved billions of dollars!

Too late, after 8 years of adulation, there isn't a single rightie here who remembers proudly voting for Dubya or even being in the GOP. They're all "conservatives" which they claim is entirely different from a deficits don't matter Republican like Reagan or Bush. SARAH!! has it too, judging by her "I was never for a bridge to nowhere in spite of being for a bridge to nowhere".
But it does explain why the right could never deal with reality....

I haven't seen any exodus of Bush voters...however, I don't think its accurate to classify Bush as a conservative....i know, you can't tell the difference...still, McCain certainly was never a conservative, which explains why he lost.....

Hate to say it, but that was pretty witty.

While we're taking petty partisan shots, I'll play too. Seems like Pres. Obama has a little of the Oldtimerz too. Seems he forgot that he was going to close Gitmo. And what happened to all those shovel ready jobs that were supposed to keep the unemployment rate under 9%? And for some reason no one can remember why we needed all this stimulus as fast as a frog's fart, and where the hell the money is supposed to go, or went. And where's all that help for all you struggling little people, trampled by corporate America. Oh yeah, Obama forgot and gave your help to Corporate America.

That was fun.
